74 days after release, 343 still has not standardized dedicated servers for Halo:MCC

I've been finding matches very quickly on the weekend constantly for over 3 weeks now with 3 people in my party (Halo 2, Halo 3 and BTB Playlists), Parties are kept together after each match and nearly all matches have equal teams. I'm a happy camper right now.
I'm actually somewhat afraid of the patch, since they are overhauling everything it might break it again for me ;)

Btw. I know we are apparently the lucky ones. And maybe time of day makes a big difference since we are from germany we don't play during the us rush hours.

I still believe in this getting fixed, since I believe they want halo 5 to integrate into this interface. Which would be ingenious actually. Think about all the burned customers not wanting to play this anymore who still buy halo 5. If there is still the option to just jump into halo 1-4 within halo 5, they will try it. And if it works then, the userbase can still be saved....

Optimism is great...

Man, this thread makes me so miserable every time I see it bumped. ;_; I was going to buy an Xbox One, exclusively to play these games (at least until Scalebound or Tomb Raider arrived). For whatever reason, I was unable to get an Xbox One on the day of MCC's release. Then, I read a review, and another - fan reviews started coming in, in which they spoke of connectivity issues. (The critic reviews mostly blew off these issues, from what I recall. But I read about it quite a bit here among other places.) I thought, "OK, that's pretty normal, but just to be sure, I think I'll wait." I generally don't expect a game to work perfectly on day one. Most of the time, I give a game a window after release (say a few weeks), because let's face it, not all games work day one, even if some of us lie to ourselves about it. The game has been out for three months and it doesn't seem like it's any closer to being fixed. It's just crazy to me, how they can re-release games that worked perfectly when initially released, and muck it up the way they have. I'm not going to hold some grudge against the studio for the rest of my life or anything like that, but I'm damn sure not trusting the brand the way I used to. I'll play the game when it is fixed, but I am saddened by the lack of a solution. I've just got to hope that by the time I get an Xbox One (Holiday 2015) that the game works as intended (if it was ever intended to work properly).

It works because your playing by yourself, add a friend to the mix in a party and watch the whole thing burn to the ground in a heap of steamy shitty goodness.
??

It works on my setup just fine. The only issue we got was a long lobby wait once that we had back out on.

I think it actually has to do with how many people are playing simultaneously. Would explain why people in europe have vastly better experiences right now than people in the us. (Can some us folks that tried recently chime in)

Like i said, it is working pretty decent right now for me and my two halo playing friends. (all from germany)

This would also explain why they released it like this in the first place. It worked with a few k in a test run just fine but when they released it the big number of people broke the system.

Another session from the other night went smoothly for me, Northeast US. I've abruptly gone from matchmaking basically not being functional to working like it should.

In theory this game was amazing lol, 4 campaigns and MP in one package. Wouldn't mind a developer doing this with Gears of War and actually making it functional

As always, Ryan proposing theories but not accounting for proper execution and longevity ;)

343; embarrassment of the industry. I can't think of a single thing they've done right in this entire charade.

"We'll tell you everything once we know what's happened" we were told three months ago. Still no word on what caused this or any kind of explanation to the lack of dedicated servers.

"We'll give you ODST free!" Well, that's great unless you bought this still broken game after Dec. 17th. Otherwise, fuck you.

"We're going to fix matchmaking!" yet here we are 3 months later with no dedicated servers and a prayer that they'll have their act together for the next patch. If not, we're all fucked. Again.

And what's worse is they haven't even really discussed fixing major problems with the campaign crashes/disconnecting. After the matchmaking is fixed, they're probably going to pack it in and start transferring resources to H5. I can't see them staying the course to right this ship considering all the short cuts they've already taken.

I had a lot of hope for 343 and didn't mind Halo 4 that much. Now I feel like they (and MS) are the poster child for what's wrong with the AAA industry. They have completely shit all over their fans and whatever legacy this franchise has. Absolutely incredible. Bravo fellas, way to kill 4 birds with one stone.

Same applies for Halo 5, after Halo 4, Halo fans rallied against sprint, unbelievably we had a feeling they were going to do ADS and fans were saying to not implement it before Halo 5 footage was even coming out, did not want over the top abilities, and wanted strategic team shooting Halo and Halo caliber maps, and again 343 continues to ignore the Halo fanbase. The maps in Halo 4 and Halo 5 beta are severely lacking in Halo quality.

What's disrespectful is there whole approach acting as if they are including fans in their feedback and attempting to be open with things like the sprint videos, inside videos, and community updates that claim they are implementing player feedback and listening, but they are not, and are fully intent on changing Halo.

Totally disrespectful to Halo fans.

There needs to be a new achievement added for people that actually come back to the game called I survived The Master Chief Collection.

My fiancée bought me my Xbox one for my birthday just so I can play halo and halo only.

Until January I was not able to play one MP game so I just gave up. The biggest most expensive dust collector I ever had..

I was able to play MP solo with randoms on day one. Were you trying to play with a party?

I finally broke down and tried to get a refund a few days ago. I was told they weren't giving any more refunds until the upcoming patch has a chance to work. Funny that they think they might need to resume issuing them even after the patch.

Pretty fucking annoying that I've barely got to play it since I paid full price three months ago, and people can get it for $24 now.

Then the dedicated servers suck according to OP's experience.

People seem to think that Dedicated servers fix the issue of latency or inequality in latency across all player.

I played a game last night before I turned it off again where it was very smooth, but there was huge latency as none of my hits were doing anything.

138 DAYS HAVE PASSED WITHOUT STANDARD DEDICATED SERVERS IN MCC.

Okay, yeah, sorry for the caps.......

My full team have not played in awhile, and we were able to get games in with all of us yesterday, and my god, the lack of dedicated servers is still infuriating. How is this still not working properly?

You don't have to read below but in sum, frequent Halo matches resulted in laggy experiences causing players to not play.

Our first few games were ok, then a lot started to become laggy and warpy. It is completely disheartening when playing Warlock (a small fast paced map), and down 11-2 right in the first minute of the match due to extreme lag, without host, where we had it and decided to play Halo 4 to mess around and we NEVER do, for obvious reasons. That game is bad for multiplayer. There were several times where I can blatantly tell a player had host, and of course it is Halo and one of the player's gamertag was something like 'Fubarrr' lol.

We played two Halo 4 matches suffering lag and frag release delays that were not happening in MCC, but equally laggy. We ended up friendly firing each other messing around no scoping with the snipers before we all quit midgame out of frustration for the day.

Anyone else want to share their experiences currently?

Can Frank or someone provide an update on dedicated servers in a patch for MCC??

The only issue I have had from the start was framerate issues on splitscreen. I fired it up today to check out the patch changes. Had three players on halo 4 splitscreen for hours and it ran pretty much flawless. Before it would chug with just two players.
