E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

Next Level is due but Retro isn't. I'm hoping for a Luigi's Mansion 3 for Wii U from Next Level for the first half of 2016. Retro probably have a game aimed for holiday 2016 on Wii U.

By E3, Retro will have been working on their current project for over a year and a half. I wouldn't be too surprised if we got some sort of teaser of what that project is, though I also wouldn't count on it.

Nintendo don't tend to announce games a year and a half in advance. Not saying it's impossible that they decide to show something but it's very unlikely.

Zelda for Wii U was a year and a half in advance, but I suppose big franchises are always announced farther in advance than anything else the company has (see also: Uncharted 4, Halo 5.)

Well, they did announce Xenoblade Chronicles X, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem and Yoshi's Wooly World over two years ago....

I'd say it's possible but I agree it's unlikely, unless the game is further along than we all think.

I'm most excited for Gran Turismo 7. I think Polyphony struggled somewhat with the PS3 and I'm optimistic about what they can do with the PS4.

Definitely want to see something on Ratchet and Clank, it was kind of glossed over at Sony's E3 2014 conference.

Uncharted 4 is a given.

Hopefully something about Rockstar's next project, if they even show up.

And I'm cautiously optimistic on what EA is doing with Need For Speed.

If I don't hear anything about Beyond Good and Evil 2, I'll be convinced it's really dead.

It's really, really dead. Michel Ancel, who probably was the only driving force behind it, left Ubisoft and is now working on a game with Sony.

Has Kojima said that Silent Hills will be exclusive ?

We haven't heard either way. Would be surprised to hear it's exclusive, unless Sony decided to invest on a horror game (which is unlikely since they have already a horror game in development with Sony Bend).

I'm curious what Nintendo has planned for the last part of the year outside of X and Zelda. I think Animal Crossing and maybe Next Level's game has a good shot, but I'm wondering if they've got a surprise game ready.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo's thing was longer this year, because I imagine they will talk about amiibo (new waves, card form, etc) and maybe even the new Club Nintendo alternative, but as long as I get an Animal Crossing U announcement I'd be hyped for days.

Two horror games are better than one :p

All Nintendo needs to show me this year is more Zelda Wii U and I'll be satisfied. No joke.

Yep. That, Star Fox, and Metal Gear V are what's mainly on my radar for E3. Other things should be good though and as always, hyped for any shocking announcements (Metroid).

Zelda U is the main attraction for me though and it's not even close with the exception of finally seeing Star Fox.

Yes, yes it would. I feel like there is a lot on the line with GT7. GT5 and GT6 didn't live up to a lot of people's expectations in terms of damage, customization, AI and more. GT6 sales were pretty weak, and Project Cars and Forza 6 will be some major competition. A prologue would be a great way to test the waters, try out some new features, such as a livery editor, get some fan feedback, and also fund the studio, as I'm sure there are many PS4 owners who are ready to get a Gran Turismo in their system.

Bottom line, Gran Turismo 7 needs to prove that it is the king of the console racers, like Gran Turismo 3/4 did on the PS2.

I had an e3 prediction while driving home today. Its not really a 2015 prediction though. Maybe a few e3s after this one. Anyways I was thinking that sony might release a smaller ps4 with no disc drive. 1 tb hard drive instead.

Next Level Games is almost overdue. They haven't announced anything ever since Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon in early 2013. EARLY 2013. They have TWO teams, one making a Wii U game and the other a 3ds game. They are guaranteed a game announcement for Wii U since their last game was on 3ds.

EDIT: Also, isn't the Animal Crossing team making Splatoon? I'm not sure why everyone is convinced of an Animal Crossing Wii U, unless I'm missing something?

What is the likelyhood that either MS or SONY has a huge VR showcase during their main stage presentations? When is VR even supposed to become available to the masses? Holiday 2015?

Last year was pretty fun on the sony side with Project Beast, Uncharted 4, MGS V, and LBP3. I'm expecting more of the same this year.

Sony

- Uncharted 4 Gameplay and release date
- No man's sky
- Destiny's new DLC
- GTA V's DLC
- Until Dawn release date
- Localizations ( Persona 5, Dragon Quest Heroes )
- PS4 ports ( Journey, beyond two souls )
- PS loves indies
- Vita's reel
- Gran Turismo 7 trailer
- new IP from Japan Studio
- new IP from Bend
- Streetfighter V
- Deep Down
- Ratchet and Clank reimagined
- Silent Hills
- Metal Gear Rising 2
- Tony Hawk
- Overwatch
- a game from Ubisoft, probabaly rainbow six
- a game from EA, probably star wars

XBox

- Forza 6
- Halo 5
- new IP from Rare
- Fable Legends
- Gears Collection
- Gears 4 Trailer
- Quantum Break Demo and the TV tie in
- Telltale's Minecraft game
- Indies
- Tomb Raider
- New Call of Duty
- Tekken 7
- AC Victory
- The Division
- Just Cause 3
- Rock Band

Going to stick with Nintendo for predictions since most of the weird Japanese and colorful games I like aren't getting made. The Japanese third-party games that are most likely appealing to a demographic I'm not in.

The few third-party franchises I'm interested in either have confirmed sequels like Batman, Ratchet, Borderlands, Kingdom Hearts, Yakuza, etc. or are absolutely not getting one. Level 5's RPG could be very interesting though.

Nintendo:

  • Mario Maker is released in September (should be August) so it's more of a holiday game.
  • No price cut. They will cur it to $250 in September.
  • Xenoblade X date for September. Japanese track is DLC.
  • Star Fox reveal and date for October. If it has multiplayer it's $60, if it doesn't it's less.
  • Zelda reveal and date for November. A bomber notebook is used with the Gamepad to keep track of sidequests.
  • Pokken Wii U port and holiday release.
  • Fire Emblem and SMTxFE trailer (it's revealed before E3)
  • Ni-Oh is resurrected as a Wii U exclusive.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate HD in Japan this Christmas early next year for NA.
  • Animal Crossing Wii U
  • Mario 3D Land 2 for 3DS releases this Christmas
  • A Mario Sports game for Wii U. Could be original could be HD collection. Either Tennis, Strikers or 3DS sports games.
  • Next Level Games next game is for 3DS in 2016
  • A Mario RPG for 3DS
  • Another New 3DS exclusive Wii port, I'm guessing Punch-Out!!
  • Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime Trilogy HD Collections for 2016
  • Metroid First-Person Game for Wii U for 2016

Edit:

Also Pikmin 4 for next year. Can't believe I forgot that. There will be at least one direct sequel on Wii U. There was demo just released and Miyamoto is big on it. Can just reuse engine.

Hopefully a realistic list except maybe HD collections. Would love some new IP's for both systems especially something along a Zelda/Metroid in terms of seriousness for Wii U. Really want Warioware D.I.Y. for both platforms with microgame-sharing and support for buttons, tilt and touch.

Microsoft:

  • Toys to Life with a traditional Toys to Life focused game
  • Smash Clone (knock outs and percentages) with 16 Microsoft + Third-party characters. Additional playable characters from toys
  • Another multiple entry third-party series exclusive.

I think they are going to go after families again as that's a way to overcome PS4. Toys to Life are selling well.

Just curious, what characters would you expect to flesh the roster out to 16? Are you suggesting that they would release the base game with 16 characters with no need for further DLC/toy purchases, but to expand the roster beyond 16 characters, players would have to buy figures?

EA, PLEASE come through for me here. Last year's show was so sad. Can we at least have a new SSX? A peek at Criterion's game? ME2? Amy Hennig Star Wars?

Well this should be fun. I'll start off with Nintendo and edit in some of the others a bit later.

Obviously by this point Splatoon and Steam will be out, and I think we'll be getting a June release for Yoshi's Woolly World and a June-July release for Mario Maker during the Spring Nintendo Direct. I'll admit I really have no clue what the heck Nintendo has in store for the 3DS. My overly asinine bold predictions in, well, bold.

Nintendo
-More Amiibo lunacy; Next Smash Bros. wave, Zelda & Star Fox lines in the works
-More New Nintendo 3DS exclusive ports
-Star Fox Wii U playable on the show floor, named, September 2015
-Xenoblade Chronicles X dated October 2015 in the West
-Zelda Wii U trailer, named, November 2015
-2.5D Metroid 3DS announced, Fall 2015
-Animal Crossing Wii U announced, Spring 2016
-SMT x FE reveal trailer at long last, 2016
-Fire Emblem if trailer, Spring 2016
-New Pokken fighter revealed, Wii U port not confirmed yet
-At least one new IP ala Splatoon/Steam last year
-WarioWare 3DS
-Next Level Games working on F-Zero Wii U
-Pikmin 4 teaser
-Paper Mario Wii U teaser

Sony
-Uncharted 4 trailer, November 2015
-Destiny DLC, as previously leaked
-Gran Turismo 7
-Silent Hills
-Couple new IPs
-Sly 5
-Last Guardian (lol)

Microsoft
-Treyarch's CoD (World at War 2 or Black Ops 3)
-Not a Microsoft guy so, other than that, not a clue

Bethesda
-Fallout 4, Boston, Amazing, You'll Love it, Trust me, Worthy of the hype, October 2015

I tried.

I'm really looking forward to this year's E3! I feel like the year old teasers have come out/coming soon, so let's bring on some new stuff!

Also I'm in team "Last Guardian WILL happen this year", or serve me a fine platter of crow!

Also also we better see some Digimon localization announcements...

- Cyberpunk 2077 demo
- Shenmue HD Collection
- The Last Guardian live demo (lol)
- Retro Studios game announcement
- REmake 2 announcement
- Banjo Threeie announcement
- New Ubisoft IP announcement
- DOOM 4 demo
- Fallout 4
- Deus Ex 4 announcement

And the big one:

- Nintendo's next generation handheld console announced. Little details given though.

so my updated predictions :

-SSX will have teaser trailer (2016)

-Need For Speed will get a trailer and release date for 2015

-Battlefront will get a full reveal and release date for 2015

-Quantum Break gets another demo and gets a 2016 release date

-Halo 5 gets a demo and a September 2015 release date

-Fallout 4 gets a trailer, demo and a 2015 release

-Rocksteady will tease that their next game is another DC property. the character or characters will cameo in Arkham Knight.

I just want you guys to know that I'll probably break down into tears if Fallout 4 isn't announced.

I'll also probably break down into tears if it is, but that's beside the point.

I really think it'll be there though. 2015. This is our year.

Are people really expecting a new SSX announcement? I thought the reboot wasn't regarded a success on last gen...? I can't see Fallout 4 getting announced and released in the same year; I also assume it will be at E3 this year, but don't expect a release until Spring 2016 at best. 2016 for QB would be lunacy in my opinion, but it being Remedy it wouldn't surprise me in the least. NFS, Battlefront and Halo I absolutely expect this year and I can see Microsoft making the smart decision to move Halo away from the overcrowded November release window for the breathing room.

There are 16 available characters. Examples include Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, Banjo, Jago, Fable Character, Conner and Joanna Dark. They may go deep and bring back Battle Toad, Blinx or secondary characters from franchises like the Arbiter. A good third-party example would be Frank West.

Microsoft's Toy to Life will have original characters like Skylanders. You can play as these in the game on top of the 16 included by putting them on the portal equivalent. Extra stages could be sold too like in Infinity.

Interesting. I'm not into the Smash style of gameplay, or the Figurine -->Game mechanic that has blown up, but I could see it doing very well for Microsoft. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Sony do something similar actually. Are you expecting a portal of some kind for the NFC to function or would there be another way of transferring the characters to the game?
