Comes out on March 20 in the United States. Walmart exclusive.

Full PR with the price (12.96$)

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mario has always been golden in the minds of his fans. On March 20, Nintendo will launch the Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition, a shiny gold-colored Mario figure that arrives on the same day as the Mario Party 10 game for the Wii U console. The Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition will be sold exclusively at 3,000 Walmart stores in the U.S. at launch at a retail price of $12.96.

Nintendo’s amiibo are interactive toys that come to life in compatible games in different ways. This new golden figure represents the third Mario amiibo. The other two Mario amiibo are:
• The original ‘fireball’ Mario from the Super Smash Bros. series.
• A new ‘wave’ Mario from the Super Mario series available on March 20, for a limited time bundled only with Mario Party 10.

The new gold-colored Mario amiibo is compatible with multiple games that support amiibo. For example, Mario Party 10 features a new amiibo Party mode that players can only access by tapping their compatible amiibo figures on the Wii U GamePad controller to customize them and bring them into the game as board pieces. Players can also save items to their amiibo, then use them strategically. Or players can train their amiibo to supercharge its stats and expand its abilities in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The full list of compatible games and amiibo can be found at http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/compatibility.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Walmart exclusive?

No thanks. That store is bad enough without having to fight people for items.

That's ridiculous. I can't even get regular amiibos fast enough, much less this.

At least it looks like it's not bundled with Mario Party...

And just how many employees that collect amiibos are going to keep this in the back and say they didn't get any in stock?

4 500 Walmart in the US is more than enough so everyone can find one near its house but still exclusives are so fuc*ing stupid.

I'm sure they'll produce plenty though so don't be afraid not to find one.

PR says it's only going to be at 3,000 of the stores.

So not coming to my state confirmed pretty much.
Also must suck for California which doesn't house many Walmarts. If by off-chance mine gets it, I will pick up an extra one.

I hate you, Walmart.

The people who live in South korea cannot buy Walmart stuff thorugh the website, and even if I want to send walmart stuff to my friend who live in US, Walmart completely blocked any payment methods from korea.

I have money and willing to buy walmart stuff, but they don't want to accept my payment without any reasons, huh? Walmart exclusive is totally bad for me. ;(

I believe the Silver Mario is due to be sold only at small Inuit settlements. Scalpers are already practising the Kalaallisut for "I ordered your entire stock".

That thing better be street dated.

Also, I wonder how rare it will actually be, since Nintendo is saying SMS Mario will only be in the Mario Party 10 Bundle at first, they may produce like 100k of these things.

well i live walking distance from a walmart so might as well..unless that doesn't include canada or something.

No, it does, Walmart Canada was tweeting about it last night until they deleted the tweets (Likely because it was a day before it was officially announced)

PR says it's only going to be at 3,000 of the stores.

Oops...didn't even read the whole PR. 3,000 seems ok too I guess :p
edit : just saw the gif answer... it seems 3,000 instead of 4,500 can make a big difference if "selected" stores are not in every areas

Still exclusive is a bad practice that has to go.

Oh yes, thank god this will fulfill the needs of all those Wal-mart customers who were just dying to get their hands on an exclusive amiibo. The discrimination is finally over.

Supposedly the Amiibo had 2 months of production, so it shouldn't be so bad to find it and get one the first week or so of release. Who gets the silver edition?
