Mad Max for Xbox 360/PS3 cancelled?

Nothing official from WB Games or Avalanche but a friend of mine received a call from GameStop saying the Mad Max game was cancelled per the publisher and needed to be refunded. I asked Christofer Sundberg on Twitter about it who denied it was canned so we went to the store today to figure out what happened and it was because he had a old preorder on the 360 version of the game which according to the sales associate both that and the PS3 version are now cancelled and will only be available on current gen systems.

Sure enough I checked both GameStop's site and Amazon and the only versions available now is for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

I guess this is why we haven't seen anything on the game in 18 months and I'm curious how it looks now.

Not shocked. What other AAA announced games still insist they're doing a last-gen version as well? I know Rise of the Tomb Raider is one...

One can hope, old gen needs to be laid to rest for big budget titles. Really looking forward to finally seeing this in action.

Tomb Raider also came out on the PS2 in 2008, it doesn't mean anything if you're on a current gen console.

MGSV?

Glad they're dumping old gen though and really want to see what it looks like now given the timeframe it's been quiet.

Maybe a re-reveal at GDC? If not then E3. I can't see the game releasing until after the summer now given WB Games is publishing Witcher in May and then Batman in June?

Thats my guess too! Either that or at E3 this year during the Xbox press conference.

I guess if it shows up at E3 it would be at Sonys, didn't it get revealed there as well?
And ya know, WB and Sony seem to be buddies lol

This is good but wouldn't the "damage" be done already as they originally worked the game to be compatible with last gen?

The next gen spite in this thread is fantastic.

Are there any cross-gen games confirmed for 2016 or beyond besides maybe Tomb Raider? Cross-gen really needs to die.

MGSV is coming this year, BELIEVE

There aren't any games confirmed that I can think of that are confirmed for 2016 full stop.

Well the game was originally revealed at Sony's E3 conference in 2013 along with the mention of having PlayStation exclusive DLC.

FYI the game originally began development 6 years ago as a PS3/360 title with Cory Barlog as the lead working with Avalanche.

I'm really excited for ''Mad Max", I'm looking forward to the next time we see it, why haven't we heard anything about it so far !!!

Anyway I hope the whole focus on Next Gen only brings the game to new heights.

I really don't see many last gen versions actually getting to be released this year. I still can't believe The Phantom Pain's last gen versions haven't been cancelled.

Tomb Raider is another weird one but the whole Microsoft thing is probably the reason why.

Too bad. I still play a lot with my Xbox 360. :-(

But for developers it's surely easier if they have GDDR-5 as VRAM, instead of the slow RAM in the 360.

Gound Zeroes looks fine on last gen, so why should they cancel it? PS3 is still relevant in Japan.

This is a good thing if true. I get the whole 160 million user base thing, but you know what? If they care so much about last gen, take a cue from Ubisoft and make dedicated unique titles for last gen like AC Rogue. It means more jobs in the industry and you're not leaving last gen money on the table all while leaving new gen games unaffected.

One of the developers wrote on Twitter that the game will be at E3.
