Last one, then I have to go get dinner.

GGs. I have no idea how to deal with rolls online :/

The timing is making me hard read everything.

This game is frightening to play, especially after a hiatus, haha. I need to figure out those shadow stuff since I'm sure I'll be seeing more of it in 2.0

woot, I can hit my j.C loops again. Cant wait for 2.0 to remove them!

That must kinda suck, learning a useful combo/technique that will no longer work. (But tbh I don't know exactly what this j.C. loop is for Marie)

I don't think my main got hit that hard, luckily. I'm a pretty bad Adachi player, and I think Adachi's getting a couple of buffs and some nerfs. So I don't think wake-up / random EX Atom Smasher's going to be as good anymore, and I can't combo off of counter DP mid-screen anymore.

Edit: oh yeah, I might lose unblockable set-ups with Heat Riser in the corner. Not that I've ever really landed one online.

Marie's j.C on some characters can extend a combo by jump cancelling a 5BB

5BB> jc > j.C

5BB> jc > j.C

Oh ok thanks, I never really used Marie outside of extremely low-level (spam j.C and autocombo), but I think I know what you're talking about. When I thought j.C. loops I first thought of Adachi's use of jump (or hop?) cancelling into j.C. in the middle of combos.

I imagine that this nerf kinda sucks for Marie players. I would be kinda sad if I lost the j.C. cancelling as an Adachi player.

I'm pretty sure Marie j.C extensions still exist in 2.0.
you might be right. When the original changelist was announced the properties changes list had everyone saying that there are no more j.C loops. I just checked dustloop and it looks like that was wrong.

it looks like the loop goes into autocombo though, so the damage is nerfed quite a bit. On the plus side it'll be more universal (still wont work on sho, teddie or labrys, but now works on adachi)

How are shadows different from normal characters?

In 2.0:

-They deal 10% less damage
-They have increased meter gain
-They have more HP (+1000 or +500, depending on the character)
-They lack awakening, but can use awakening supers are any time
-They have access to regular burst (when you're in hitstun) and Shadow Burst
-P4A Shadow characters use their old autocombos. Most of those autocombos have new properties

1.1
-no burst
-no awakening (no defense boost and meter capped at 100)
-characters returning from P4A have their old autocombos
-damage reduced to 80%
+2000 HP more than their normal counterpart
+much higher meter gain
+meter carries between rounds
+awakening supers usable at any time (for 50 meter still tho)
+shadow frenzy: when you have 100 meter you input A+C+D as a cancel or in neutral to go into a state where specials and supers can all cancel into each other, and all supers/meter uses (guard cancel, OMC, SB moves) are usable at a limited cost. you basically get crazy combos from this that let you turn games around

the only viable shadows in 1.1 are chie, mitsuru, naoto, yu, and yosuke, for the most part. 2.0 is a different story, hopefully someone else can type that out since I don't have time to rn.

edit: yay go PK

Been playing P4U2 netplay more since it's the easiest way to get practice during this time of the school quarter.

I notice a lot of people online try to bait wakeup DPs with roll. Guess people just aren't confident and wanting to just hard read. It's really weird. Also I'm convinced after years of vanilla and P4U2, the average person online still doesn't know how to properly avoid Narukami's super cancel options after baiting a DP. I still see people trying to roll past me just as I land.

Rolling on somebody else's wake up is probably one of the dumbest things you could possibly do but people online still do this constantly and I'm just like please I need you to stop.

It's becoming a pet peeve of mine, for sure. Especially when they give up real estate and oki.

In other news, school's getting in the way of the Evo grind but this weekend I'm going to mess around with utilizing SB Raging Lion more. Been neglecting it for so long, but I've at least messed around with j.B fuzzy air SB Raging Lion B Issen etc or using it in a combo after baiting a burst. Although I think I can do 2A link after air SB Raging Lion too? I guess after that, it's onto learning better CH combos.

So much catching up to do .

Does Ultimax have Throw Reject Miss like BBCP does? Bit random but it never actually occurred to me whether or not it was a thing in this game. Dustloop wiki doesn't have it listed but just making sure.

jesus christ my character looks so stupid now. not that i didn't totally expect that or anything though

Also considering she's looking this strong even with Attsun (who isn't exactly the strongest, imo), I'm looking forward to seeing strong players make her look as good as she should be. People still aren't doing optimal combos with this character and that's really sad. But yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to 2.0 lol

That looks pretty annoying to deal with but props to that Yu player for having a fairly good defense.

You pretty much have to bide your time until you can get close enough for a it hit then try to stay in as much as possible.

Heh, going against Yukari should be like playing a shmup. That looks pretty fun.

Anyone know where I can pick this game up for a good price? I loved P4A, but I've been a bit hesitant picking up Ultimax knowing there is going to be $15 of DLC on top of what I pick it up for in order to get the full roster. It would be easier to justify it to myself if I can find it cheap.

...Now I feel like an idiot, but may I ask how in regards to Narukami? Today I was playing and completely forgot that he could super cancel after and he got me as I was trying to ghastly whail him with Liz.

Online is going to be YOLO as hell once everybody gets the new AOAs. Well, more so than usual at least. My dumb self already gets caught by the oddest AOAs and now with them being more safe on block? Game over, man.

Block DP > walk behind him. If he instantly super cancels into Ziodyne just roll on superflash.

OK thanks. I'll try that next time I block one, though that happens pretty rarely for me.

Well, I already play super YOLO, so this'll be good for me. For example, I throw out random C or SB Atom Smashers when I play Adachi, and piss people off if I get them, especially if I can combo off of Counter hit SB Atom Smasher. And as both Liz and Adachi, I'll occasionally run/airdash up to someone and go for Ghastly Wail, especially if they're shocked. Basically lag/netplay tactics

Heh, I wouldn't even call that netplay tactics so much as just playing Persona. It's funny, if people pulled the crap they do in P4AU in any other game it'd be infuriating, but here it's mostly just amusing. Disrespect is pretty much the strongest skill a player can have.

So Mad(Arc Revo winner, top PSR Teddie, dude who just solos OCV team tournaments for giggles) finally put up his early P4U2 2.0 tier list. He comes from a strong region and plays strong players often, and has one of the best ideas of what the game probably looks like right now, so his list is worth looking at a bit more so than some others out there right now. Rise and Adachi are excluded because he doesn't know anything about them quite yet. He also says something along the lines of "if you're startign now don't pick chars below S Teddie"

At a cursory glance, the 2.0 metagame looks marginally better than 1.1, but I suppose it's still too early to tell at this point. Overall, I'd much rather fight the 2.0 gods.

I've really dug all of the the changes they gave Labrys. They pretty much gave her everything I could've asked for. I'm torn on the new Kanji. I don't like the changes to air Cruel Attack and the lower damage on his grabs, but his new gatlings make his pressure way better and more interesting. I just don't see the reason to pick him when there are characters who already play that same pressure game better.

Sho is more "Well Balanced" than Pershona? I don't understand.

I know this sounds stupid, but the icons that are off screen are all just unknown right? As in, it is too early to tell? Just wondering because I saw some tier lists (both serious and not) put characters actually off the Cartesian plane.

Looks like Yosuke took a hard hit. Narukami isn't as much of a god as he used to be :p

As a general trend, the shadows seem to be equal or higher tier than their non-shadow counterparts now. I'm not looking forward to those unburstable 6k combos.

shadows being awesome, mitsuru being absurd again, marie being terrible. Im really not looking forward to this patch.

I wonder how much Naoto carries over, maybe I can start learning her now. Off to dustloop

EDIT: So apparently Yume is playing Marie these days...that kindve makes me want to retract my frustration and stick with her

Yume hit 800 PSR with her like a week ago (apparently he wanted to see if she was as bad as people say) and now he's in the 850 range with her haha. I'm pretty sure she's still weak, but not as bad as the actual bottom tiers in this game. Yume was THE P4U god and works on the game so this is just amusing now.
