Anybody knows if it's possible to re-bind the camera controls?

I'd love to be able to control the camera with WASD instead of the arrows since I'm right ended and that's where my left hand is sitting naturally.

The only RTS type game I know that lets you do that is World in Conflict and it's amazing.

In case people are still looking to get it and aren't aware, the VIP price from GMG is still active for the deluxe ($29.99USD) and regular ($21.89USD) editions of the game. You just need to make an account if you don't already have one.

Yup... Especially for a game like that, I value much more a hardcore simcity streamer's opinion on the game over a random dude from Polygon.

It was fun to watch all of Polygon's backpeddling with their initial score.

All the controls can be rebound. I think I saw an answer to that from someone who asked about potential issues with laptop touch pads and the reply from someone at CO that they were.

EDIT: (Ignoring my other edits) I found the source.

I think on Quill's stream he said the default camera control was on WASD already. He was talking with one of the developers and said how everyone assumed it would be on the arrow keys and were surprised at one of the public demos.

I have seen really few streamers using walkways, sips uses them in his tiny town and people use them. Should help with traffic problems in tighter cities also, just remember to build enough of those.

And not just for decoration but actually as a traffic reducing method since the "cims" seem to be willing to walk rather long distances if you give them opportunities.

Yeah, I have an intersection where the traffic only stops to let pedestrians pass. Never even thought about walkways. I'll be making a note to fix that tonight.

Not to mention that you could make better flowing grid design because you wouldn't have to put in so many roads and create those intersections.

I am so excited that we're finally moving beyond the outdated "Sims only walk sixty feet to find transit, otherwise they'll take a car" model from SimCity 4. Pedestrian walkways being a thing you actually need to consider is amazing.

I'm confused about the patch that came out a couple of days ago, it seems like some streamers got it, but others haven't? I remember it changed traffic behavior quite a bit, with cars waiting until the last moment before merging into their outbound lane, as well as pollution being recolored grey, but in many of the streams I've been watching recently - neither of these seem to be in effect?

I made that last night to let them walk across my "highway roundabout" (as there's no sidewalk on highway roads), I even put a park in the middle :D

Got the patch too, but it seems that it only works on new maps, not old build maps. I made a new just to see if the pollution was grey, and it was.

Wow, excellent idea!

The unbindable camera keys in Tropico made the 5th game unplayable for me.

I don't understand why the arrow keys have been the norm for these types of games for so long.

Unfortunately you can not put streets/rails on top of each other, because the pistons need to be put on a free space. Best you could do is a spiral.

Yea not literally on top of one another, with a gap in between each one but each on a different level. Although then would that really be traffic efficient?

Difficulty wise, is this game going to be harder to manage and way more complex than the average SimCity game? That's the only thing I'm worried about. I like these kind of sim games but I'm not necessarily great at them.

I feel like it is, actually. They don't have disasters, but you can easily cause them yourself. Build a dam in the wrong place, flood the city. Don't take care of your dead, massive outbreak of dying people who cause others to get sick and die. Shit, that last one happens even when you try to take care of your dead. Senior citizens seem to have a massive die off during points of the game and it's hard to keep up with if your traffic is fucked up.

Ah I see. I don't think I have anyone seen putting all height levels next to each other, but maybe someone in this thread having a copy could make a quick screen shot of this.

I had no interest in this game until I looked at this thread. Why do you do this to me. I've got no money or time to be buying new games now. Stop, please. Spare me haha.

If someone hasn't done this, I'll be defiantly trying something like this tomorrow or the day after. Maybe even put it on the workshop. Seen already some really good awesome looking highways.

Oh interesting! When you say old build maps, do you mean old saves? Or did they put in actual new pre-made maps to play on, and the changes to traffic behavior and stuff is only taking affect on those particular maps - which would strike me as really strange.

That is goddamn beautiful and you should make one to upload to the workshop.

I will once I get the game on my Steam account (tomorrow), as for now I use Gamersyde's one :)

Yeah, when I saw them use it, I was so happy, I stayed there watching them for a couple of minutes, then made more pedestrian paths to help them go everywhere without walking too much or taking their cars. It's so satisfying.

You can see an elder with a walking-stick using it at the start of this video.

Yes, old saves (made on the older build ^^), at least for the pollution color, I don't know about traffic, my city is not evolved enough I think, and they use my public transport too much.

I guess the patch does not update old savegames, so you'll have to create a new city to see the changes. I hope this is not the way going forward, it'll be annoying to have to recreate your city everytime a patch comes out.

Well it is the 10th where I am, so should I put it up now?

It's supposed to be on release day, check with a mod?

My guess is that, since the game wasn't officially released yet, they went ahead and did it that way while they still could. It would be a major headache to not plan to do that going forward, so they'd have to wait for a major update (i.e. large/major expansion pack that has some foundational/fundamental changes) to do something like that when the game's officially out.

Could you already check if the traffic behaviour was "fixed"?
It would quite impact how I build my cities.

And not just for decoration but actually as a traffic reducing method since the "cims" seem to be willing to walk rather long distances if you give them opportunities.

Is there any way to know exactly how far they are ready to walk?

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
I'll wait. It's still more than a day away anyway.

edit: nvm

Just verified with 2 mods:
OTs can go up "One day before with soft flexibility"

So, gogogo, we all want it :p
