Thanks bruh.

I don't mind the battle theme. Would have preferred it without lyrics but its not something that'll be a dealbreaker for me. Kinda like it.

I can also understand people not liking his style, but worst composer that ever lived? lol this is getting out of hand. Complete nonsense.

I think ppl can't let go of the xenoblade soundtrack and "try" and get used to the new soundtrack to an otherwise new game not sequel in the franchise.

Dual blade will be my main weapon :3

Someone please take that picture with girl and the creature, and get rid of the Xenoblade title and add the Last Guardian.

And make a new thread. Troll the whole forum.

do it.

You.

I like you.

Understandable. The Xenoblade soundtrack was really good and fit the fantasy setting well. I personally think the composer of choice here is fine though, given the tone and story Takahashi is going for. The whole thing seems to be sci-fi rather than a "basic fantasy" as Takahashi put it (I think) and given Sawano's history with composing for these sorts of stories (Gigantic Formula, Gundam Unicorn and Aldnoah Zero), I think he was a good choice. Gundam Unicorn's OST (and Attack on Titan) iirc has been really well received.

Takahashi was also a fan of him, so I'll trust his judgment. Would prefer less tracks with lyrics though.

Being a Sawano fan is tough on these forums.

Wasn't Persona 4's music heavy on lyrics? Still haven't gotten around to playing P3 and P4G.

Music isn't a deal breaker for me, but Xenoblade music was so good that my mother heard me playing and asked me to put those song on her cell phone.

I can totally see how too many vocal tracks might interfere with the game's enjoyment of some people, imagine hearing singing voices for the entirety of a movie.

The combat looks great as usual.

I remember hearing the battle music under the narration in the Treehouse video so I already knew about the rap. It takes a bit of getting used to, but considering the game's vastly different setting and style I can see what they were going for. It's a large departure from the original game's soundtrack, but I'm pretty sure that's the point.

I also really like the new music on the website from the E3 2014 trailer.

I do hope that they are not recycling to much monsters a lot, by just changing the color pallet en sticking a higher level on it.

I have seen a certain beasts to much in different areas in the game, the rest of the game is looking freaking awesome !

I don't mind having lyrics but I think the music is just...bad. It's ridiculously repetitive and never goes anywhere. I'm beginning to hope there's an option to mute it.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Its because some of the music is made to be looped without being obvious. However a large majority of the music we've heard has been without context, chances are majority of it are for cutscenes and the like.

I'm still pretty surprised that the gamepad isn't used for the commands. I thought Xenoblade would've benefited from it rather than having to scroll the options with the D-Pad.

Isn't that the girl we saw fighting in the party at the end of gameplay from the Xenoblade X Battle video?
it definitely looks like it so it seems she's probably pretty important

also that battle song is terrible good god bring back Shimomura :(

why couldn't they have done a split soundtrack with ACE and Kiyota again

I know, the music is the worst part of the game so far :-\

Made the new thread for the new stuff (I hate how irregular they are with the update times :D). It's also time to gather our common energy to summon StreetsAhead!

I'm not in love with the music, but I don't dislike it either. Hopefully there will be some more standout tracks.

(The song played at the end of the last direct when they were introducing the playable characters was pretty cool IMO.)

I promise I wont mention the UI again, but that UI looks like a parody of an MMO

I won't rule out the option of moving some/all of those HUD elements to the Gamepad, but for now, this is the only way for them to show how the combat system works during play.

"You must be wondering who that squid-headed female alien at the end of the battle video was, huh?"

"You can tell she's an evil creature. She's very popular with the development staff. We think she turned into a really cool character. The design was made by Yoko Tsukamoto by the way."

Thanks, adding that to the OP!

Never (knowingly) heard anything from Sawano before. Of course it depends on taste, but i don't think it deserves some of the harsh criticisms here.

The first Xenoblade OST was something really unique, the symbiosis of music and setting was in my eyes one of gamings biggest highs. But we shouldn't expect the same style while Chronicles X opens up a whole different setting. I was expecting something different as soon as i saw the setting and already let go of former expectations (in a positive way).

Personally, i like, what i've heard so far, expecially the "Exploration Trailer" track(s). The music really conveys this hardcore futuristic setting, this eerily and alien world, while also giving a sense of huge sci-fi epicness (kinda like BSG imo) and danger. I think, so far it really fits the theme of survivors fighting on an undiscovered planet full of potential enemies and creepy creatures. This is not the "boy from village discovers world around him" setting, the first XB had in the beginning.
I also liked some of the tracks played while showing NLA. They really fit the more urban, futuristic style of this seemingly big town.
Still, i'm sure, it won't be to the taste of everyone.

But if Monolith gained ONE thing from XB (and Baten Kaitos 1+2), it is my trust (or call it benefit of doubt, if you want) in their overall game design, and that includes their choice of music/ composer. I'm sure, it'll fit quite nicely while playing the game.
