Asked earlier but didn't get an answer.

Anyone know if Unicorn will get a rerelease on Bluray or should I just plop down the $250 or so for all 7 now? I do kinda like the Japanese packaging...

Right Stuf is doing cheap DVD releases of Unicorn, but I doubt we'll see a cheap Blu-ray set thanks to Japan and NA sharing region A. Sunrise is nuts.

I'd even cave and buy blu ray re releases of 00.

But most of the franchise got dubbed. We're only lacking dubs for Victory, ZZ, and the more recent shows, Zeta should really get redubbed.

I meant hard subtitles on the Japanese audio track. Sunrise seems crazy protective and afraid of any reverse importation if they're priced differently (why Unicorn was so expensive).

Yeah I did hear reverse importing was becoming a thing and I get being paranoid about it. I guess they have to figure out some kind of work around without pricing their product out of the price range of their intended market. I love Unicorn, but I wasn't paying $60 per 50 minute movie.

It's actually cheaper to order The Origin I blu-ray direct from Amazon Japan than it is to buy the Limited Edition version being released domestically (with a completely untranslated artbook).

For some reason they're only releasing Origin over here as an expensive Limited Edition. I just want the Blu-Ray...

And yes, it's just like unicorn. The discs are identical.

I'll buy the rereleases of what I don't currently own, but ugh...I can't with the prices of newer stuff, I have my limits.

Anime prices in general are just absolutely insane. Older series can get released in pretty good complete packages sometimes at least. New stuff though? You're fucked.

You should feel sorry for Japan because they pay three times as much for 3 episode per DVD whereas we get 6-7 episodes per DVD for $20. Blu-rays probably get fewer episodes per disc in Japan too.

But they get it first at least. I'm still sitting here waiting for some Jojo blu rays.

Turn A Ep 34:

The episode where Harry Ord tries to shout down a squid shaped spacecraft. Harry Ord really does seem to be a good person. He has yet to do some seriously reprehensible shit, man has an honor code behind his bad wardrobe.

lol check out this quote from Tomino regarding the BD release of Victory Gundam:

"This is a series that I want to deny completely. Such a result was all my responsibility. If you watch this Blu-ray due to some kind of mistake, please find what went wrong with 'Mobile Suit V Gundam.' If there is anyone who can learn something from it, we will have a meaning to release it as Blu-ray."

Roasted.

He's so ashamed and remorseful about that show.

I'll never forgive him. The 32 episodes I watched are the reason I can't feel joy anymore without unhealthy use of alcohol.

Does Tomino flat out hate Victory because of the story or because of the behind the scenes meddling that went on with it? It's not like the show is AGE or Seed Destiny bad. It's heavy handed at times yes and Chronicle as a villain was lame, but Katejina made up for that.

Gundam Reconguista in G Episode 3

Some of the moments were kind of pointless or things I had never wanted to see. For example first time seeing them using the toilet in a gundam, and nothing I think anyone ever wanted to imagine or entertain. The lieutenant also drinks a bit too much, so many water bottles in the episode.

I wish the show was a bit more series and dramatic as even when they were stealing the G-self, the one leader just said it like it was a common occurrence and had no urgency to address the situation. The battle was also too comical and light hearted. Bell was not in any rush to do anything. At least next episode suggests that a real battle finally happens. Im hopeful.

Noredo is also annoying with her love lines :/

Ha! This image... I remember seeing it last year.

I have a few Ball customs in the works. I'll share my progress so far. I have fun thinking of new ways to build Ball fighters.

Ball Tank. I want to replace the track with something with better detail (aftermarket 1/35 track perhaps). Still thinking what else to add to it (probably some Zimmert)

Ball fighter (no weapons yet, will probably shave down the top a bit)

Dreadnought Ball (still thinking what weapons for the ball itself)

I have a few more in the wings but they aren't together enough yet.

Just picked up a Grimoire HG for like, $15 at HobbyTownUSA. Apparently they're on sale. lol

(I also spent $100+ on other shit because I'm bad with money. So much paint...)

I like that kit! It's a cool looking suit, happy to have it on my shelf.

MG G-Self when. Will we see that and an MG Burning this year? I hope so.

Damn so that Rightstuf distribution deal doesn't mean that they'll bring them over at a reasonable price over here? My enthusiasm for that deal just went down to nothing.

Turn A is coming to DVD for around $30 for half the series, but there was never any chance brand new OVAs would arrive cheap. Sunrise is calling all the shots in this deal, after all.

Ah that's not bad. Maybe I'll get the DVDs then. Why do Blu-rays have to be so overpriced?!?!

US shares the same Blu-Ray region as Japan. People started reverse importing from the US because Japanese prices were too damn high (and you can't really sell dub only anime in the US)

A lot of anime companies are ok with stuff coming out in North America on Blu-ray at normal NA pricing. Sunrise however, is not ok with reasonable prices on Gundam here. Bummer.

And honestly, it could be worse. It could be like Macross. [stares at my Japanese Macross Blu-rays]

God don't gloat about Macross!!!! It could be like the VOTOMS series...why didn't that take off here? At least release the Code Geass blu rays. I love some Sunrise shows, but man they infuriate me.

I don't have that much Macross on Blu-ray. DYRL, the Frontier movies and the first and last volumes of Frontier TV.

Mecha just isn't popular here. Votoms is too hardcore/old even with the newer OVAs, but I think Frontier would've done well. Thanks Harmony Gold you sons of bitches.*

*Music licensing would probably be outrageous, too.

I'd love a Macross Plus blu ray...ugh...how is Votoms too hardcore? This is Merica.

I'm building the RG Zeta now, finished the two legs so far (NOTHING BROKE!!!!), and wow, this is fucking easy mode compared to the RG Exia. Really like the detail on a lot of the parts, especially the internal stuff which fit together as the armor gets layered. This feels like a totally normal gunpla building experience. Why couldn't the Exia be like this?! :p

So no chance of Zeta Duckroll Custom 1.0?

Oh man, the RG Zeta of all things? Be real careful with that thing. Honestly surprised you're having less trouble than with the Exia. You've only done the easiest part, though That thing is gorgeous, but fragile as hell. Be extra careful with the chest assembly and the shoulders. The joint that allows the cockpit to pull up and over the head and the sliding shoulder extension pieces on the inner frame are super, super fragile. Also just be extra careful if you ever transform it. The pieces I mentioned as well as the ones in the hip that allow the legs to swing around all seem (or from experience, are) easy to break. It's not doomed to break like, say, the PG Strike Freedom, but it's real easy to snap.
