Bloodborne load times look to be a bit longer than hoped

There is a patch out that people who have the game early have updated with. There is going to be a day 1 patch as well (the patch out right now is not the Day 1 patch). I am not positive but I think its very unlikely that load times are affected in the Day 1 patch.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, it sucks to hear that. As somebody who suffered both Skyrim AND Arkham City on the PS3, I can suffer through this, but at the same time I've also become very accustomed to the fast loading times of DS and DS2 on PC, so it will be a harsh adjustment. At least the producers are aware of this, so maybe there will be another patch soon after release.

That honestly doesn't seem all that long to me.

Based on my memory: It's exactly in line with the load times in previous "Souls" outings on consoles. It's mainly an issue for people who have been playing these games lately on PC...and even then, I suspect, it's a minor issue.

I'll probably just check my phone for new notifications during the longer loads. No problem.

Thx.

Theres still hope.

Whoa...
Then what we call this current patch?
Reviewer patch to enable MP?

Do you have an idea on the size of the patch?

It's truly not that bad. It's the fact that it's basically the only thing to complain about with Bb, and some would really love to throw a wet towel over everyone's hype.

I love GTA V and find it near-perfect. But their load times are abysmal and it's the biggest glaring flaw of the game. I know I'm going to love Bloodborne but these loads times actually are bad. Not only that, there's absolutely nothing to at least read while you're loading unless you have a hard time with reading the title of the game.

You can be critical of things you love.

I wouldn't mind getting some lore tidbits to read during the wait.

Spoiled children these days ;)

Ever played Monkey Island 2 on Amiga with 11 disks and one floppy drive?

And now we complain about 30 seconds. Get your phone out and tweet about it in the meantime :p

GTA V only loads on start-up though, not throughout the game.

In the end we'll all forget about this when the game comes out. i always sit with my phone and so whenever a loading screen comes i switch to mobile. No matter how long it is.

Once the game is out, everyone can complain, or play instead. We will see from the quota of players vs. complainers how bad it really is :D

Yeah, its painful to wait and watch.
I was amazed how quick Sleeping Dogs: DE loads on my SSD, just a couple of seconds, even if its openworld game.
PS - you can call me spoiled, but i waited for fucking 5 minutes to run zx-spectrum games from tapes in my youth and i don't wanna this times to return again.

Just out of curiosity, if the choices were between getting artwork (like Demon's Souls) or getting item descriptions (like DS1/2) during loading screens, which would you guys prefer?

My vote is with character artwork. I fuckin loved the Demon's Souls load screens.

I was watching a stream last night with my bro, and yeah they are some long load times.
The loading screen is a little dull too, give us something to read if we're waiting that long!

My bro said those we watched are patched waiting times, I don't know how he knows that.

Tom pls

He's less ITK than Turok ¬¬

@Odd, art but a much greater selection. Must be so much nice concept art, just make sure its not spoilerific, and if it is make it so it only appears when you've already seen what it pertains to

Item descriptions. I love reading the lore

Artwork by far. Environmental artwork for areas the player has already visited would also be neat. Yharnam is a stunning setting.

Maybe both artwork and item descriptions?

What system were you playing Souls on? Because I have them on PS3 and PC. The load times are not this long. They're long, but at least there was something to read while you wait.

This isn't an anti-Bloodborne thread. This is talking about a legit complaint people might have with the game. Long load times have affected scores in reviews before too.

Considering you are the one who suggested this thread in the "games with the worst loading time" thread I'm not surprised I guess this is the new concern and docking review points because of long load times? really. I wonder why not add points then for best loading times ... hint The Order and Driveclub.

A dynamic dream state would be nice. Kind of like Destiny's flying ship which changes just at the very end, but here instead, a flashback of the location you're about to boot up at. It mask the load times nicely...

PC load times have spoiled all of us...

No fucking joke. DS2 load times were, like, 5 seconds on PC.

This better get patched. I don't know realistically how much I should expect that given From's batting record with technical issues, but jesus christ that's long.

The game isn't installed to GDDR5.
We had similar assumptions about the system for playing games as they install or are downloaded, when that's really more about getting ENOUGH there to get going and not about making load times magically disappear.

Hell, install times haven't really gone away, they just reduced to like 30 seconds before you can play the game, and happen automatically when the game's inserted rather than requiring booting.
