The pot calling the kettle black. You are so concerned about this game's loading times that starting a thread on gaf is enough for you, so you just have to let people more people know about your concern outside of Gaf. Congratulations your concern made it on N4G.[/QUOTE]

lol. you should take 30 seconds and chill out.

But it's par for the course with the series. Demon's could take up to 30 seconds to load, Dark could take a while sometimes and Dark 2's loading times made Bloodborne's look like a fucking PC game's times.

It was never an issue until Dark 2 but that game took fucking forever and you were dying and warping everywhere.
I think people just expected better loading times because its on a new console. I did. I'm not skipping the game or anything.

there's a real conversation to be had about console exclusives, PC ports and video game archival

it seems ludicrous to me that we can't play, for example, Journey on a modern gaming platform. There's no reason this shouldn't be the case. PC ports are vital.

Durante started that conversation two years ago, I guess you can bump that thread if you want to talk about it. Yes, open platforms are the absolute best and it kind of sucks there's no viable option for the console/living room market yet.

My very first playthrough of Dark Souls, which took me 80 hours because I was really bad at it, I didn't die for the first two hours of the game.

(And then I fell off a ledge.)

Look, these load times are a disappointment. I'm waiting for launch day, going to judge for myself, and if it's genuinely a pain, then I'll buy an SSHD if Gaffers report back that it makes a difference.

But "you die more than you play" is only true in these games if you YOLO your way around. (Getting well and truly stuck on a hard boss *might* be the only other time but even then I doubt it.)

Do you have a particular SSHD in mind? This one seems to be the best one I can find for the reviews/price ratio and IGN did some testing on it.

I've also heard that the HGST 7200 rpm drives outperformed the 5400rpm Seagate SSHD in some cases, and it's a bit cheaper here.

Found an old GAF thread on the subject: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716288

I think that was a fair expectation and it's a bummer that it isn't the case, but people are now acting like it's a different case from other Souls games on consoles, making it some sort of big deal.

I mean, I fell in love with the series with a game that took 30 ish seconds to load, why would this be an issue now? It just comes off as concern trolling even if it's not the case.

That one has really poor benchmarks.

Any load times from different kinds of HDD's been thrown around and compared yet?

that might be something that's going to have to be tested when the game actually releases tho.

I still get long load games on PC. Unless you have SSD it's hard to completely escape load times like this. Some games just have it.

Dragon Age inquisition

FFXIV

For example.

Have you ever played a Souls game? Dying over and over?

Yes it's a punishing game and you will indeed die, but this rhetoric is ridiculous. I probably die less in Dark/Demon's souls games than I do in nearly every other action game.

Good for you.

I have played both DS1 and DS2 and while I wasn't dying heavily for most of the game, there were still quite a few sections that required numerous attempts to get through.

Dragon Age was bad but not this bad on PS4. But I guess cross-gan may have actually helped there?

It's the retail 1.00 version. Reviewers on the spoiler page of reddit have noted they could see items during loadtimes, they're on the 1.01 version.

I wouldn't worry about it ..
what?

the people that played after the first patch confirmed that it's the same loading screen, no items. please don't post lies which are later copy-pasted in the OP.

SSD feels like its a damn near basic need for a PC in the year of our Goddess 2015. I had very short load times for DA: I and shorter still for XIV. =)

PS4 is a modern gaming platform. That isn't really a fact you can dispute.

The severity depends on what you're comparing it to, but they're worse than any other Souls game to date. DS2 on consoles had some pretty long loading times but no way was it 30+ seconds, PC versions of DS and DS2 had miniscule loading times so I'm assuming you're not comparing it to those.

It's not too outrageous to expect short loading times for a Souls game on a new gen console.

Never played DS2, but like I said Demon's/Dark Souls on PS3 had similar load times to this. I've been watching BB streams and playing both of these games recently. PC load times seem uncomparable since a lot of people are saying they are using SDDs (what I did when playing it on PC as well). Was it still fast when played from an HDD?

This thread just seems overblown by some people that probably weren't interested in the game to begin with. Load times didn't affect my enjoyment of either Souls game on PS3 and I doubt it will affect my enjoyment with Bloodborne. If load times are the worst thing about this game, I'd say it's a damn good game.

This is a real drag. I think the worst part about this is it could make the game even less accessible to new players who are dying more often and have to wait forever between deaths. i really wish they just had a nicer looking loading screen. I loved the item descriptions in Dark Souls and would find this long wait much more palatable if I could read some lore.

There are reddit rumors that there's a patch to show item descriptions during the loading screen. Unconfirmed, but it's giving me hope.

Who cares if it's on another website? Guess what. It was on Reddit too, which is where I looked it up and read the comments. It's even in the original post. Your attempt to "got you guuuuud" isn't working because I'm not posting anything about how horrible the game is or how I don't want it or how others should feel. If you don't like the topic, go away and "itch" somewhere else.

Load times are a concern for a game like this since a lot of new people will be dying a lot. Some won't care whatsoever. I do care about long load times. Terribly sorry I don't feel the exact same with you.

Seems like a crazy thing to ask your engineers to fix within a few days.

If they don't fix them day 1 then it's whatever. I personally don't see these load times as a big issue. I'm not too concerned with it, I'm just excited to play this game.

Dark Souls 2 loads fast enough that I saw no real difference between having the game on my SSD or 7200RPM HDD. It's not like it's a Total War game; you'll get fast load times from an HDD as long as your PC is decent.

I wouldn't have known about this issue at all if you hadn't made the thread. It doesn't diminish my hype, but for all I know it might have, and it might still affect me. Now I'm better informed. So thanks, and keep on keeping on.

Who cares? it isn't like you'll be seen the loading screen a lot because each level is pretty big. The first day patch will also have lots of improvements, loadings might be one of them (i'm not sure tho)

Yep, really really fast.

I played Demon's last, so it was really weird to me to see the loading screens for such a long time, but at least they weren't as boring as this one, so yeah, I hope the rumor is true.

This,

It does seem a thread is unnecessary but hey it's a Sony exclusive so we need to create a thread to complain.

A 6-page thread about BB's loading times that, afaik, you'll only encounter when you die? Well, seems like BB's gonna be fucking amazing if this is what people are concerned about. An absolute non-issue. I'm gonna try and avoid thread whining, but... Come on, dude. Come on.

This is false!

I've seen a stream of someone playing the game with the 1.01 version and there is still the same BLOODBORNE screen present. No items, no nothing.

Yeah I thought it was strange that the load screens was just a black background with Blood Borne (tm) dead in the middle.

Yeah, personally that's not a issue for me as well. Heck it'll make deaths more tense but mainly I'd just be worried about if my Blood Vials, or whatever it's called, is recoverable. It may discourage trips to the hub and back though.

First time i moved my gaming hd to SSD was on Dragon Age Origins

FUCK ME i could never ever go back to those dreadful loading at least on PC

Defending a 30 second load time?
Okay dude.

30 seconds every time you die.

In a souls (style) game.

Do you know how much that's going to add up? I really hope it's going to be patched, or at least fixed if you have an SSHD/SSD installed.

I mean, I know people are hyped and all, but this is an issue with the game when you considering how long the game might be, which is north of 50 hours.

That's a definite concern for me, with this being the first of this series so to speak that I'm really going to give a shot. I'm renting it through Gamefly, so I have little invested in it. If this proves to be a major annoyance, I'll have no qualms about dropping it and moving on to other games.

No, these were load times that were longer than we had hoped:

God fucking damn. Wow. I wan't going to bother, but are you by any chance blind? Have your eyes popped?

This "Don't say anything, but good things about a game before release." needs to stop.

I don't yet; I contemplated preemptively getting set up with one, but decided to wait until there's a retail, day one (not day zero) patch out and a wider net of people to poll on the question of which specific drives get the best performance out of Bloodborne.

I've been playing Demon's Souls this week and the load times are pretty bad, but they only really get to me when I'm farming upgrade material, and genuinely my least favorite thing about DeS is upgrade material drop rates; I assume that there will be nothing as stupid as the Pure Bladestone in BB so I am not too worried about this, though shorter load times are obviously always better.
