AVGN Adventures Miiverse Screenshot Disabled

Lasted just over a day after the game released this past Thursday. Nintendo approved the game and gave it a Miiverse page. Given the content, I was kind of surprised the screenshot featured was even enabled. It's unfortunate but it highlights Nintendo's ever continued censorship mentality.

Uhm, i don't see why Nintendo censor the game after approving the game?
Probably, just a small issue behind the scene.

Could it be because Miiverse doesn't have PEGI/ESRB rating or something similar? The game is properly labeled for its contents but the Miiverse isn't, if I remember correctly.

Edit: Oh wait, just saw it has a rating plain as day. Then it is indeed weird.

But you just said you believe it shouldn't have had the ability to begin with? Is it actually a problem, and does it actually show Nintendo's "censorship" problems?

Don't they require you to put an age in when creating an account?

Limit M rated communities to 17+ profiles. Sure, lots of kids lie about their age, but that absolves Nintendo from blame if parents get all upset about it.

Nintendo ACTUALLY cares about the kids.

So what is the death toll for screenshots disabled post-release:
Mario & Luigi Dream Team : Frame buffer glitch allowed you to post the last photo the 3DS camera viewed. i.e. any jpeg. 4chan wet themselves in excitement for a day (animu spoilers gallore, cory in the house and shrek in SSB)
Kid Icarus Uprising : Someone was using AR mode to post porn (as AR mode shows the view from the camera)
AVGN : Fred Fuchs.

Even the M rated communities have rules against using foul language. Posting screen shots with foul language kind of questions the rule existing.

Disabling community features for people after they buy the game is a bit questionable.

It is pretty much the norm for this generation and the past generation of console/PC gaming. Hell EA makes a business out of it by shutting off various parts of their sports titles.

Can I get a refund?

MIIVERSE was a big part of me buying this particular game on this particular platform.

It seems like keeping Miiverse kid-friendly is important to Nintendo, so this is hardly surprising or upsetting tbh.

And it's kind of tacky of OP to call this censorship when actual censorship has, and is, used to restrict people's rights and freedoms by oppressive governments. That is a serious crime, so stop fucking diluting the word with this inane rubbish.

Probably. Call Nintendo about it and explain the situation. They'll delete the game off your system, too, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Binding of Isaac next?
Does it have swearing and other Miiverse TOS violating info in graphical and hence screenshot form?

It might also be possible that the publisher elects to disable screenshots (they probably won't as you know that makes them look like the bad guy).

Did the Bayonetta miiverse pages ever have issues about content? I know I posted a screenshot with profanity and never had a issue. They are also usually filled with sexual content but some of it gets removed.

This doesn't affect the game in any way. The game is not censored. What is the controversy? Nintendo knows that miiverse is for all ages so it makes sense that content deemed inappropriate shouldn't be posted there.

Not surprised in the least.

To quote a post I made in another topic:

It's interesting, I remember when moderating on Nintendo's NSider forums, we would regularly have to remove links to his material that people posted thinking they were "funny" or whatever, due to the vulgar language that he uses.

And now a game featuring him is coming to a Nintendo system.

Quite bizarre.

2015, much the same as 2007, they don't want people discussing him on their message boards (or current versions thereof)

Nintendo is the least censor-happy of all the first parties.

Nintendo, MS and Sony all generally enforce that content posted in public places stays around general public content guidelines. Microsoft will blank out your profile for having 'fuck' in it. This is separate from game content, which as you can see Nintendo allowed the game itself to be on the service.

Since Miiverse posts can end up on the front UI, they obviously treat Miiverse posts a bit differently than game content.

Exactly. Nintendo doesn't censor actual content released on the system. They haven't since a Mortal Kombat 2 released on the SNES with all the blood and gore of the arcade version. I think this is getting attention because of the Angey Joe thing.

The forum is still there, the game is not censored, just the screenshot function was disabled (and is not the only game with it disabled later...or right from the start).

Is not like they banned the game and closed the forum.

In one of the levels, it spoofs those Atari porn games. There's several sections with a naked man pogoing on a giant pixelated wiener. Underneath him, are slippery ledges covered in white stuff.

Game is goofy as shit and really fun, but it kind of makes sense to disable the feature in this case unfortunately.

Either that, or have some sort of age verification for the community.

I'm so sick of this shitty argument. Yes it is censorship, it is not POLITICAL censorship, and no one said it was. It's a form of private censorship.

They have rules which users must follow. Same as message boards not allowing porn. Why is one censorship and the other not?

I'm sort of surprised screenshots were allowed to begin with. It'd be nice if certain menu screens were enabled a la Sniper Elite but then even those have have fucks all over them but who knows.

Maybe if people didn't constantly flaunt posts with F-bombs and the like they'd have got away with it. I've posted screenshots with swearing to Miiverse, including a screen with the word shit on it from Deus Ex, but I didn't act like it was the end of the world, and what do you know, Miiverse is still enabled for it.
