I got the email but the link does not work and just brings me to a login page

Here is what the email says

CASH BACK OR MERCHANDISE OFFER FROM
SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT AMERICA LLC

Dear Customer:

Our records show that you purchased a PlayStation Vita handheld game console prior to June 1, 2012. The Federal Trade Commission has alleged that some SCEA advertisements for the PlayStation Vita during this period were deceptive. Although SCEA neither admits nor denies liability in connection with this matter, SCEA has agreed to settle the dispute with the Federal Trade Commission by offering either cash back (or credit on your PSN account) or merchandise to customers who purchased a PlayStation Vita before June 1, 2012, and who have not returned the product for a full refund.

Accordingly, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to receive a check for $25 (or a $25 credit on your PSN account). Alternatively, you are eligible to receive a merchandise voucher that you can use to select from a list of merchandise, video games and/or services. The selection of merchandise, video games and/or services that are available through this offer has a retail value of $50 or more.

You are eligible to receive either a check for $25 (or a $25 credit on your PSN account) or a merchandise voucher, but not both. For details of each offer and to make your choice of the $25 check (or credit) or the merchandise voucher, please click here.

You MUST complete and submit the information requested in the above link by June 30, 2015 to be eligible to receive the $25 check (or $25 credit on your PSN account) or merchandise voucher worth $50 or more. Please be assured that your acceptance of this offer does not obligate you to purchase anything.

For more information on our settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, please visit www.ftc.gov and search for “Sony Computer Entertainment America.”
If you have any questions, please call Sony Computer Entertainment America claims administration at 1-800-410-5484.

$50 is essentially a free game right? At least they are doing something about it, unlike many companies (even non gaming ones).

Is this a scam? I just received the email but the link leads me straight to a generic account login page. This smells phishy.

Got an email this morning, came right to Gaf because I figured if it was legit people would be talking about it here. I had no idea this was a thing but that's cool. I bought my Vita less than a month after launch.

I was just reading this thread and getting salty about no e-mail when I got mine. I don't know what "registering" your vita means, though. Still.. waiting to see if anyone manages to log in or not.

I have yet to receive an email. I got mine a week early for pre ordering it. When they had the special and it came with Little Deviants.

I never had a US Vita but I got the email to my US PSN email address. I think I'd used my japanese launch vita with my US account I guess so it must have been registered there. Not going to say no to $25 PSN credit, but I'll wait until others have logged in, that website is odd looking.

Got one a little bit ago. It certainly does appear a little janky, but I've participated in many other settlements like this where the websites look like an afterthought. They're made quickly and cheaply to serve the purpose of the firm, Sony, whoever.

Edit: not saying it's trustworthy, of course-- just that piece of shit websites tied to these things isn't necessarily a red flag by itself.

Is it supposed to be our PSN login?

if it's legit it's more likely the web page broke and that's just the interface for the admin login. there's zero chance they would allow you to log in with your psn account from a third party web site

since it's not may 1st I wonder if this is a phishing scam to get PSN login names.

I would change your password if you tried to enter one in

So when officially where they supposed to give out the free stuff? I think I registered an old launch Vita so that's maybe why I got an email.

Checked out that email address and apparently it is the same one the Apple settlement came from a couple years back.

Probably legit, but I'll be safe and wait a bit.

Lame I bought one day one and may have owned a couple by June. No emails for me. I don't know that I registered any Vitas though either. Is there a way to check by a PSN account or something? Or would that be totally separate. Any way to get in this without having registered the Vita?

I don't think that's how it works. Someone could potentially walk into a store and purchase a launch Vita right now.

It seems that as long as the Vita was registered within the specified time, I think it's automatically applicable-- it seems to be tied to our PSN accounts, which would obviously tell them when we first registered a Vita and the emails they're sending these out to.

Unless proof of purchase will be required after registering and applying for the settlement via this site (and that's entirely plausible), then even those who had a used Vita tied to their account before the specified end date are eligible for the compensation.
