Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PC/PS4/XB1) [Update: Big images in OP]

I'd actually prefer that they take out the third-person cover system. It worked fine for sneaking and shooting, so it didn't bother me--but a lean system would work about as well, and would be less jarring. It took a long time for me to get used to the constant switching between perspectives.

Then...why did you call it "the single worst screenshot of Human Revolution" you'd ever seen? Maybe I'm missing something.

Well he tried to say I was wrong in saying that it looked barely better than Human Revolution. Why he chose to post a screenshot to prove me wrong from an older Deus Ex title, I have no idea. I can only assume it's from DX:HR if he's trying to make the argument.

It wasn't even an older DX game, it was Black on the PS2 lol.

is that why he calls himself Daedalus

watching his creation (human augmentation) get destroyed?

Had some terrible grammar in my comment that I fixed in case I wasn't super clear.

But yeah, I believe that is the general theme that follows everyone that pursues transhumanism. It's done with the goal to become more, but what else is there more to become. The human experience is more what you make of your own life, and what you do to help your fellow man. But most who roll out augmentations see it as a step of human evolution. Casting aside the limitations to become limitless. Ultimately using to get the upper hand. To enable the individual into a being of higher power. To be above his own environment.

But at that point transhumanism does nothing to evolve or progress the human condition. It only weaponizes social darwinism. But the core essence of humanity is never improved upon. So as a result all efforts ultimately fail. He is the Daedalus that has enabled so many to play the role of Icarus.

DX: HR was definitely ugly in a lot of places though. Even with the upgrades in Director's Cut it wasn't looking too shit hot. Jensen's hair, specifically, was terribad. I wouldn't say the game ever looked as good as that screen you posted here on my PC, or if it did it would only be in very specific circumstances.

Everyone complained about the yellow filter in Human Revolution. But they removed it in the Director's Cut, and...well, I never thought I'd miss the buckets of yellow paint thrown on everything, but I did. The problem wasn't the black-and-gold theme, it was that they implemented it with a filter, rather than with the native lighting.

I agree hear. The game already had a lot of gold and yellow aesthetic, so the filters just made it even more intense. But some of those CGI shots look really good with the mixed lighting. Hopefully that sees it's way into the real time rendering of the game.

Here's a non bullshot of Human Revolution.

i personally liked the gold filter. it was part of the art direction. it added the renaissance feel that was primed in your mind with the first deus ex trailers.

The gold in HR was awesome. Seeing all of these day time screenshots of DE looks weird because of how little you play in day time areas in HR. Just not used to it lol. The gold does look a lot better when it's night as opposed to day. In the day shots that we have, it's almost giving me a dudebrobrown filter feel.

I thought Human Revolution was a good game but felt it to be somewhat repetitious when it came to combat. True, the Augmentations kept the combat somewhat entertaining but there was still a real linear feel to many of the enemies that made the game feel like it was overstaying its welcome (hide behind box, wait for enemy to turn back on you, sneek up and execute enemy).

Hopefully this game will keep the overall experience fresh and offer up new gameplay options.

The gold filter gave the game it's own identity and look and feel. I personally enjoyed it also.

Just give us another 100G achievement for not killing anyone in an entire playthrough and I'll be a happy human. That was a challenge, but it was so worth it.

I agree. One reason I prefer Deus Ex 1, which I first played in 2011. Is that as you level and spend points, the combat changes around you. Early in the game everything is solved in a number of ways, but it only requires low level stuff. You can feel out what style you prefer in gameplay. Then as the game progresses you specialize. In doing so your approach to the world also changes. You then get further choices in how might you solve problems. Each specialty of combat also feels different as you level. This perhaps works so well because things are pretty gimped until you invest in them. Where as modern game decision dictates that Jensen is pretty much adept with most of his gear right from the start. Leading to less progression.

Who do people insist on posting screenshots of Human Revolution that makes the game look terrible?

It had some pretty nice graphics. In fact it had great graphics.

Though, saying that

They better reconsider how they do the endgame again if they do this.

I didn't kill anyone in that game but it was annoyingly difficult/stupid when everyone was an aggro zombie.

Same here, never had an issue with the filter or thought it would be one till reading online about it.

If they're gonna have another no kill or no alert trophy again then they better at least have a fucking stats screen this time so I can tell if I accidentally messed up along the way. I never got the no alert trophy, and I have no idea why.

O my god the Game Informer trailer got me so excited, I am SO GLAD everyone from the DXHR dev team is back. I'm hyped as fuck, haha!

Any news on McMann?

You picked the single worst screenshot of Human Revolution i've ever seen. Here is a more comparable one:

Now sure, the new game looks better. But I don't think it looks like a generational leap.

And you picked a badly slapped together piece of photoshop art.

Please dear god of awesome games everywhere, make it so that

1) this game ends up being as awesome as it ought to be

2) nobody has the terrible idea to make it a temp exclusive to any 1 platform

Not actually that important

I did? Where?

What the... are you drunk mate? Or maybe you don't know how quoting works judging by the other replies you've posted. Seriously, don't want to sound rude tho. I've posted a screen from a notorious Black bullshot/mockup because it reminds me a lot of the screen mockup I quoted (and it worked, you even thought it was from HR lol), it had nothing to do with any argument that I did (NOT) previously have with you, you must've confused me with someone else.

Those screenshots in the OP are probably post processed and bullshotted to hell but holy dear god that looks funking incredible. Day one.
I thought some of them were not even screenshots... they look like they took the gameplay FPV gun overlay and just applied a filter to it over top of environment concept art...

especially the one with the Zenith handgun, the background just looks like all the other environment concept art (like the Czech food market concept art)

either way, i don't mind how they present the game at this point. just my impression... excited regardless.
