Kojima was 'fired' by Konami, says Metal Gear Solid voice actress

Because no matter what you don't fire a man AND his team who worked so hard for you and gave you so much over 27+ years.
And is that confirmed, that his team was fired? It's not even confirmed that he was. He could have quit under bad terms and his team followed. Nobody knows what's going on.

This is going to make an extremely interesting exposé at some point. One I'd love to take in.

I won't buy MGS5
So you're going to make the however many months/years of Kojima's suffering worthless then? That's not the right thing to do. It's still his project. His game. Regardless of what the box says, we all know who made it. At least buy it used.

So Konami is saying that her claims are "categorically incorrect" but Kojima's name is removed from the credits anyway?

It's not like Kojima would quit and ask to get his name removed from HIS games.

You positive about that.

One of my theories is when Konami made KojiPro a brand and offer it to him, while he was a VP, He was granted the rights to that brand.

Now he is no longer an employee, his contract stated he owns his brand. Probably some bad blood with the new power had them say "Take your brand, and we are scrubbing it from our IP"

Watch this all be some convoluted marketing scheme to drum up interest in MGS5. It has all of Kojima's favorite things, unexplained conspiracies, revisionist history, and more than likely nanobots.
Kojima will be proclaimed the perfect troll if true. I'm all for this actually lol it could be fun to see the reactions.

UPDATE: Konami says Burke's claims are "categorically incorrect".

I smell PR bullshit in all honesty.

Kinda sad to hear, but it can turn out well. A new franchise from Kojima sounds really good to me.

Metal Gear was legendary but it's time to give the franchise a rest. Though Konami will probably still try to milk it after Kojima is gone.

Expect MGS VI,VII and VIII all through to 2020.

Konami will churn those out COD style.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Kojima and co. are still a contracted employee. That could be very well why the are mum... you know business ethics, employee rights, and all that.

Yeah, going from the staffs social media connections abound, a fortnightly promotion show, and more to "oops, can't talk about anything, bye". Its about ethics in business. I mean theres a point where playing devils advocate is more like thinking in a nonsense loop and speaking in tongues.

I'm sure plenty of people that don't like Kojima will be hoping beyond hope that its his fault or whatever. Disregard all the murmurs clearly indicating what went on and pledge allegiance to the one that has no purchase in reality because "donut like dat guy".

Him and Clarkson should team up and make Top Metal Gear

So why are people so quick to rush to Kojima's defense knowing nothing about all this?

Over the past decade, what has Konami done that would have given them the benefit of the doubt in this matter? They've been losing all of their top talent on a fairly consistent basis since Michiru Yamane's departure, and they've been content to let their various franchises die horrible deaths from mismanagement (Castlevania, Silent Hill) to virtually disavowing any knowledge of their existence (Suikoden, any Hudson Soft property). If they haven't done anything wrong here, then they've done an exceedingly poor job in conveying it.

Has Kojima done any tweets since the whole "heading off" one?
I remember only seeing retweets on his EN account atleast.

Don't the japanese fire their employees by giving them useless jobs where they can't do anything in hopes they'll leave due to labor laws?

Yep. Semantics at best. His job role changed to "You're obviously not allowed to leave until MGSV and maybe the first round of MGO3 DLC is out", but "contractor" is shorter. Dudes gonna be stir crazy by December just sitting on his thumbs waiting to re-launch a studio and get into new projects.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I won't buy MGS5

This is the wrong thing to do here.

It's still Kojima and Kojima Productions game which they've been working on for over 5 years now.

Of course Kojima wants his last Metal Gear game to be a huge success.

i cannot wait for the day people stop floating this ridiculous idea.

Exactly.

Losing Kojima and his team is a big loss to them, but surely Konami knew that, Can they really expect someone to replace Kojima and his team?

I'm pretty upset thinking about what this could mean for Silent HIlls. It must only be in the middle of development, right? It looked like we'd finally get another great Silent Hill after two mediocre ones. Dammit. They'll still push it out, I imagine; hopefully there's enough already in place to keep it as brilliant as PT promised no matter who takes over.

Part of me is imagining that Koji fucked the wrong execs daughter. Why else would they fire their meal ticket?

Hmm sounds realistic and reasonable. But they don't deny that he is no longer an employee though.

I believe they did indeed fire him and that PR is a half lie. They have fired him but let him continue the work on contract till the game is released.

Wow, he was the only thing keeping the company relevant. What happens to Silent Hills now? That was by far my most anticipated game. Now it'll probably be another shitty entry to the series.

Since we're all just playing the guessing game, I'll just guess it's him wanting out of MGS and Konami saying naw. Kojima is like fine I'm done and Konami goes cool but we're gonna be twats about it and scrub yer name. Kojima pops both middle fingers as he backs out of the board room.

it sure is going to be odd when MGSV releases and Kojima is not doing interviews or making appearances to promote the game...
