I haven't been keeping up on the latest gaming tech and the Witcher 3 recommended specs. I see that the recommended is a GTX 770 and an I7. I have the below and was wondering if I could run it at ultra at 30fps / 1080p.

GTX 560 Ti - SLI
i5 Intel at 2.8ghz (not sure of exact model)
8gb ram

Thoughts? I want to max it out...

Eh? The combat system is the greatest thing about BB/Souls and is by far Witcher's glaring weak point.

Every game shits on Skyrim though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5pycqmx0ec

But this looks so much more fun to play than BB. You are dodging here, you are shooting magic there, you are parrying sword to sword, shit is nuts. Guess thats how I should have started my argument. But I get what you mean about BBs combat and why you feel the way you do about it.

Because YouTube reaches the greatest audience imaginable? With all due respect to my favorite guy Blimblim, no one gives a shit or knows about Gamersyde except GAF and other superfan gaming sites.
Now that's the sad part, isn't it? Most people don't even know what compression is.

Nah. You just don't understand the concept of internal consistency within fantasy.

Fantasy doesn't just mean, "Who gives a fuck, just add blank in, its just fantasy right?"

"Why aren't there sharks with laser beams on their heads in Game of Thrones?"

"Why arent there Plasmids in Fallout 3?"

"Why arent there Asian People in Elder Scrolls?"

Etc etc

Not every fantasy lore needs to include every conceivable thing in it just for the sake of having it. That is, as you tried to frame it, not what fantasy is for.

Are you comparing darker skinned humans to sharks with laser beams on their heads? I'm not saying add Super Saiyans to the game. Just people of different complexions.

Edit: Also even if there aren't Asian people in ES, that doesn't change my opinion on it. There should be and with a character creator there is no excuse for there not to be any characters with Asian features.

It's interesting that in the trailer they call it "The Witcher:Wild Hunt" and not "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt"- I wonder if they're playing down the sequel aspect to help them attract newcomers to the series.

Have you ever played a Witcher game?

....yeah? I don't know what you're trying to call me out on. All the Witcher games have had elves.

I was laughing specifically at the "even racism" line because they're touting it as this unbreakable taboo, but they hit it on the surface level like every other fantasy RPG does.

Yeah, thats true. Based on the amount of "Never played the other two, will I be lost in this?" Its not a bad idea..

Little chance I'm afraid. A 770 is considerably better than a 560 Ti and even "recommended settings" doesn't mean maxing everything out. I honestly don't even think you'll be getting 30 fps with a medium/low mix.

But that's just me, you'd better wait for confirmation next month.

Can't say for sure until the game is out but probably not. Recommended specs rarely aim for max settings.

Someone already addressed that in another post directed at you....

My point, hyperbolic as it may be, is that because of the lore the game is based on, there is no reason for their to be Asians, Africans, Latinos, Islanders, etc all in one place.

This game isn't based in the melting pot. I am all for diversity, and in a game like say, Mass Effect, or Halo it makes absolute perfect sense to have the most diverse cast of characters possible. However adding diversity just for the sole sake of checking off a box is not the right way to go about it.

Edit: Also even if there aren't Asian people in ES, that doesn't change my opinion on it. There should be and with a character creator there is no excuse for there not to be any characters with Asian features.

No. There really shouldn't be. There is nothing in the Lore that could explain that. No different than the reasons above. Don't just go adding things to fantasy lore just because, that helps nothing.

Forcing every single fantasy universe to be a melting pot just because you think it should be is silly. Just as silly as whitewashing ethnic characters just for the hell of it. These are not good practices.

It is obvious that they are doing this ever since they changed the game's logo.
And it makes perfect sense to do it.

Not every game has to be 100% politically correct in order to try and appease everyone. But by the same token, they are not trying to discriminate. The region just so happens to be Slavic in origin and that is what they are trying to portray. There is nothing wrong or racist about that. The only problem lies within your own perception. Can't you just enjoy the game from it's own regional perspective?

These "complaints" are getting ridiculous.
How will that change your enjoyment of the game? How will that make the game any better? A fantasy world doesn't have the same "races" as the real life world... it must be shocking.

Dwarves, elves, undead all in there. Not a single black character shown.
There are black characters in the Witcher universe, but they are rare in the northern kingdoms. There are black people from Zerrikania (e.g. azar javed)

Edit: Beaten by a long shot

Hairworks is just for Nvidia Card isn' it ? :(
No, but it will probably run like dogshit on AMD hardware. Not much AMD can do about that.

Real life world also is not composed solely of melting pots. Hello Japan!
Or my own country, Czechland!

Dwarves, elves, undead all in there. Not a single black character shown. So? I just find that bothering.

Edit: Since you edited your post, I'm not outraged. I just find it distasteful that doesn't mean I won't buy the game.
Do you hate lord of the rings too?

Not one black person in the shire, why.

Should probably wait for the game to come out before complaining like this.

The last time people had a big uproar over race in a game was The Order.... and it turned out one of the biggest characters in the game was Indian.

But seriously where are my night elves?

Damn, I never knew black people were on the same level as night elves and Plasmids.

And even if there was no Indian, the outrage would still be moronic.

What "level" is that? I am not comparing the things, I am talking about consistency. I already said my examples were intentionally extreme. If I was reading a book about early humans, cave men, and some of them were Asian, Some White, Some Indian, etc, it wouldn't be very internally consistent. The reasoning for them appearing that way wouldn't be rooted in facts or lore, it would literally just be

"Because diversity, that's why"

Which is silly.

Oh man oh god oh man.
Hope you're right. I don't necessarily plan on buying one, but I am planning on buying the next big thing, so this will probably result in the green following suit with their next GM200 based card.

Oh and I just remembered, it'll mean I'll need to hold off on games like this, GTA5 and maybe Batman for a while until these cards show up.

Dunno about you guys but that last clip was the best to me. Watching those things swoop in trying ti take other animals and panning over to see other giant monsters walking around looked awesome.

So brutal and fluid.

I'm happy that they've changed his fighting style to look more like the books describe it, with pirouettes for dodges and more momentum and centrifugal motion. He looked like a fool rolling around in the dirt all the time in Witcher 2.
