Same, I think they are giving folks who were in the beta but never bought the game a free weekend (its not this weekend, though)
unfortunately, I'm getting the "new browser/pc, enter security code plz" message, but the email with the code takes an hour to arrive and is no longer valid.

Stopping by to say I received that email as well. A quick google search looks they are indeed inviting players who played the Beta and never purchased to the free weekend to entice them to buy.
Though looking into it, an 80gb download for only one weekends access and a $60 to $80 purchase price if I want to keep playing after that results in a rather steep entrance fee for my tastes, especially considering I have a hefty back log at the moment. I've heard good things lately though so maybe if they do something like this later on, I'll give it another shot.

Yeah, it's a free beta weekend. They emailed 5 million people with the 'you've redeemed a code' email, which has killed their outbound email system and caused them to get RBL blocklisted for phishing (lol). Because of this legit customers are getting locked out, as you need email to get the auth code to login in.
For reference, the download is also 40gb, not 80gb - they mixed up disk space and download size.

Somebody on Reddit built up a 1.7m bounty by grinding AOE murdering NPCs from VR1 to VR14. They thought it was hilarious. Two fails:
- When you get killed, they take your coin - but unless you have 1.7m gold, your bounty sticks.
- When/if they introduce Enforcers, it's based on gold wanted amount - so he's going to appear on every other players screen, and presumably keep his bounty in a similar way to as with guards.

To be honest, my if was based on how they've talked about it in the latest ESO Live shows... it sounds like they might be backing away from the PVP elements of justice system now. We'll see how it plays out. I know Zenimax Online are having some financial woes, the console launch needs to go smooth and big.

I think so as only GAF members were invited when it started. I didn't put any restrictions on members as I assumed we'd all be pretty cooperative. Guessing I'm a little too trusting.
Hope NA GAF has better permissions than me for the returning players

Nobody really puts anything in the bank on NA. I suppose we are less trusting.
I'm such an idiot then. We had 1000's of items. Purple v14 armour sets, motifs, stacks of ingredients for any food you want. It worked great so that you could take an item out of a set you were looking for. Make a stack of food for any level. 100's of recipes to help out.
WeaselKing if you're on GAF will you at least send me a thieves message? I can accept being robbed by a sneaky thief. Joke of it was they could have asked for loads of it and I wouldn't have minded. They will probably never use half of it or sell it all to buy gear which I'd if helped them get myself.

How active is the game right now? Is the GAF guild active? If so i would like to try it out again. I have a max level templar but gave up due to veteran rank grind. I disliked it. Obviously i am talking about the launch timeframe. I don't know if they changed veteran ranks now. Please let me know. I don't want to re download the client again if the game isn't very active anymore.

Hmm, good question. It may well be tied to a code, we don't know yet. I do know they count buying the game as buying a license to use the game from them.

It'll be really shitty if they don't give a code to everyone who has taken them up on the console upgrade offer, considering we've already bought the game on their website.

They sent me an email telling me to take a survey and get a code for my account. I will not be doing that however, as I have neither console, nor will I be getting one for a while.

I must be honest, I kind of feel like a dick for saying anything, as I have already deleted the email. In my defense, I just got off work about two hours ago, and I worked 60 hours this week. I may be a little bit loopy. I am truly sorry. Next time I will ask GAF if they want the code first before deleting any emails like that.

Judging from his post history he's also quite active in the buy/sell/trade thread, which makes warning about his behavior even more relevant. I wouldn't feel too comfortable dealing with a person that has no qualms screwing you over if they could get away with it.
