None of us really know. I imagine Bloodborne will sell very well, but Kadokawa may decide Miyazaki would be better served making Dark Souls games instead of a platform exclusive as I think the IP is theirs (even though the trademark is registered in English territories as Bamco's). On the other hand Sony may offer good rates for developing Bloodborne sequels so it would make sense for From to keep both of those plates spinning. I get the feeling that Miyazaki is in an esteemed position at From, and Kadokawa probably can't force him to do anything he doesn't want to do as I'm sure other publishers (particularly Sony) would be more than happy to offer him a job.

Most of Kadokawa's games are only released on PS platforms, so I doubt they'd have an issue with Miyazaki making an exclusive.

Nope. It's registered to Bandai Namco in Japan as well, they just let From publish the Japanese releases.

But it's not like Dark Souls 2 was a flop or anything, so why would Kadokawa step in? Miyazaki is their star developer, they'll let him do whatever he wants.

I think it's more that they have cheaper alternatives, they definitively have the money to buy studios.

Yeah, Y2Kev has pointed out numerous times that they "hurr Sony's broke" posts are wrong. They have plenty of funds available to them if they wanted. I doubt they will though, they're probably best off right now keeping devs like Quantic Dream, Clap Hanz and Ready at Dawn as second parties.

Interesting, thank you. I had a similar discussion with someone else a while back and he was adamant that the IP was From's and Bamco only registered it on their behalf (which seemed plausible to me; I know little about Trademark/IP ownership).

In which case I suspect Bloodborne 2 is just as likely as Dark Souls III. I hope From don't butt heads too much though, as launching Bloodborne and DSII:SotFS a few weeks apart does not seem like a particularly clever move! And yes, I know the publishers would have final say on the release dates.

So with the layoffs at Evolution Studios (55 People - 55% of the studio) and Sony San Diego (around 40 people)
what do you think about this situation? More strategic decision or due the dissapointing performances (Driveclub fiasco)

With the Playstation Brand beeing on of Sonys Key Divisions now, im curious how Sony will handle the first Party Studios over the next years?
More Studios? a stronger Focus on the quality Studios (naughty Dog, Polyphoni)

Lay-offs are always strategically done after a games launch and DLC plans, so this is normal. it's also good to know AAA quality games can be done with less than 15 people just look at hellblade. So there is nothing to worry about the layoffs except those affected of course. When the studios get another project green-lit they will go on a hiring spree again.

I'd rather From just keep creating new IP...souls premise, different Era and slight tweaks (souls in the future on a derelict spacecraft for example)

I didn't know they let people go from Sony San Diego. Aren't they the baseball studio? And they're making Kill Strain? I thought the baseball games always did pretty good business for Sony.

In the future, I think Sony, like almost every publisher, will most likely consolidate themselves around their big franchises while new IPs will tend to be smaller projects such as Journey or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Mega new IPs like Bloodborne and Driveclub will probably become more and more rare.

I don't think the Evo layoffs were just strategic. They cut 50% of the studio and said that working on Driveclub was their plan for the future; that does not seem like a healthy and ordinary decision to make.

I agree with the consensus here, but if they clearly stated that their plan for the future is to keep supporting Driveclub, then going back to the point why would you need 50+ staff members for DLC plans? I'm sure when they have another greenlit project by Yoshida their staff will have a boost again.

With Zelda U being delayed to 2016 and not to show up at E3 this year, it would be perfect for Sony to re-reveal The Last Guardian at any time this year. For Holiday 2016.

Ha!

yeah i rememeber :p But he didn't say when we will hear about this.
Think 2015/16 is the year of red dead redemption 2

Cant find the quote but I am sure he said it will be 'Lockstar' & it will be a exclusive game --> Agent

Hopefully we will hear sth about RDR2 :( Really need dis game

Honestly, I've given up caring about TLG at this point. If they ever show it again and give a release date there and then I'll be right at the front of the hype queue, but as things stand I have zero expectations and I can't be bothered to waste any hope on it.

I'm much more excited about Gravity Rush 2, any other potential new games from Japan Studios, Guerrilla's new game, Bend's new game and Media Molecule's new game. At least we know these studios can actually deliver.

Wish we knew more about guerilla's new project. Also what level 5 is doing with Sony.

I really hope it's Dark Cloud 3, but I suspect it's more likely to be one of their Japanesey franchises that I have no interest in. I think with some cultivation Dark Cloud could have been a strong perennial series for Sony, but they need to get rid of the randomly-generated shite and make properly designed levels and better combat.

They said they're aiming for something big and epic, doesn't really seem to suit DC well. I guess it'll be something closer to WKC.

Ugh, I hope not. I really tried to like WKC, but it was so bland and charmless.

Rogue Galaxy 2

BELIEVE

I would be very okay with this. I loved the first game in most aspects besides the level design. Level-5 in the PS2 era were far too keen on corridors, which I really felt spoiled the level design in RG and DC. But I loved the style, charm and characters.

Yes, fair point. I misread your comment and thought you meant another WKC instalment.

I've always wanted Level-5 to try and make an action-adventure akin to Zelda. That series does not have enough direct competition and such attempts have resulted in some of my favourite games of all time, like Alundra and Okami.

A Level-5 made Alundra OH GOD YES!

I know it's probably a crazy request, but I really want Demon Souls port, remaster, PSNow, whatever lol. I impulsively sold my PS3 the day they announced P5 on PS4 and I forgot that I still played Demon Souls and GT5 all the time on the damn thing, and now I have no way of playing Demons!

Would the fact that Atlus published the game in NA be a wall in Sony releasing it here on Now? I know with a Remaster something like that wouldn't be an issue.

I just want more Demons. I'm on a frenzy of BloodSouls

Once PS Now is really up and running properly I see no reason why Demon's Souls wouldn't show up on there. After all, it is a first party release even if Sony didn't actually publish it themselves outside of Japan.

GG robot dinosaur game. I want to know more about that!!

Haven't seen much since the concept art leaks.

I expect we'll get a reveal this year (probably their big game at E3, with a lot more coverage at PSX) and they'll be looking to release late 2016. Sony are not going to rush this out, and from the snippets we know it does sound crazily ambitious.

Pssh Virtua Fighter 6, WE WANT SONIC BOOM 2 RISE OF LYRIC 3 WITTON ALBION 1 MULTIPLATFORM

This may sound selfish, but I want Sony to collaborate with Square ala Bloodborne to make the next Dragon quest numbered title. Sony footing the bill means that the game will come out on the bigger screen

Oh, and another Suikoden please.

I really hope we see Bend's survival game soon. Those are some talented dudes and they always get the most out of the hardware they're on.

How is Star Ocean related in any way to Sony Japan... ?

Yeah Sony isn't even making the game.

That is what I what to see more than anything along with GG's Horizon. I want to know what Quantic Dream is up to as well. I hope more than a Beyond 2 Souls remaster after all this time.

Fixed alittle.

I don't think Japan Studios' game is Star Ocean. I took from Verendus' hints that it was an big in-house JRPG project, and he insinuated that it's on the size of FF. Unlikely to be a sequel and I doubt it's a collaboration as Sony will want the IP if it's a major investment.

According to Kagari Sony Japan is helping with Star Ocean, but I highly doubt that is the big JRPG. If you wanted my guess I would say it might be the Level 5 game, with Sony Japan working together with them.
