Aksys teaser site - news and updates

Well, since this is Aksys' announcement (as opposed to Spike Chunsoft), the English version may be the first one being released. It's quite unusual for a localization firm to announce a new game, so if this does end up being ZE3, then it might be closer than you think.

And the ZE series does do much better in the west than Japan...

You said that it is quite unusual, but has it happened before, like, ever?

I agree with you guys - I feel rather exhausted too. Theres over 2 months left and although the speculation may be sound (Uchikoshi and Aksys tweets etc), we still arent 100% certain if this is ZE3 or not.
Has anyone tried the Japanese ZE website? Is that still down?

That's the site listed on wikipedia and it's (still) down

http://zendesu.chunsoft.jp

edit: but that doesn't mean anything either way, it's just the site for VLR which was called "Kyokugen Dasshutsu Adobenchā: Zennin Shibō Desu ("Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die")" in Japan.

Well, at least we were able to predict the next 20 minutes :) new word -> #4infinity tweet
Btw, zoom works again for me in the browser, but the relative position of the words to each other doesn't change like it did before when zooming in/out.

Yep, the size is back to normal now, and it looks like they've fixed the other issues it was having with positioning. I guess the stationary words and countdown are all a single image now.

I'm really anxious about this site. So many signs point to this being ZE3 yet we really know nothing for sure. I played through VLR last year and I couldn't put it down once I started. I had never played a visual novel game before and I had only played VLR because I always downloaded the free games on PS plus and the only thing I knew about it was what I read in the description. I can say without a doubt that was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Even without knowing this was a sequel (I did go and get 999 once I found out) I loved the story and the twists
the reveal of Sigma especially
were great.

That's why I'm really hoping this site is teasing what I think it's teasing because I'd really like to experience that kind of game again (especially after my "disappointment" with Danganrompa).

Makes sense, explains the level of pixelation on parts of the site that scaled with size before the update.

999 was that game for me. Also, welcome to GAF :)

I've been thinking for a while that maybe these words represent potential participants in the assumed ZE3. Words like Ice Cream and Firefighter are super specific.

Ice Cream and Firefighter are self explanatory, coin could be a gambler. I guess ring is too vague to associate with any specific job, could be a vicar or a jeweller?. We should know who a number of the participants in ZE3 will be though, so if that's the case then we might have more evidence for this theory in a few weeks.

It doesn't necessarily have to be all related to occupation, but I could easily see each word being closely affiliated to the different people...

YEsss yesss keep the positivity going and I'll keep my pessimism at bay!

I love this idea. VLR Spoilers and following Q&A spoilers:
Wasn't one of the participants in ZE3 supposed to be the lady that Luna was based on (Diane or something? It's been a long time since I played the game). Do we know anything about her occupation? The next word could be related to that!

Yep, Diana. All we know is that she is supposedly responsible for not containing the Radical 6 outbreak, and that she was the only survivor of the test along with Sigma. (One person is also unaccounted for.) It's left vague if she was directly responsible for the other six participants' deaths, or is just saying so in a general manner.

In case anyone was wondering, it seems that images A and B contain "ice cream" and "ring", respectively.

This (found in the "view page source" option you get when you right click) seems to be the source of "firefighter" and "coin":

Code:
<div class="entry-content">
		<div id="main-img"></div>
<p style="margin-top:11.5%;">
<h1><marquee behavior="scroll" direction="left">coin</marquee></h1>
<p style="margin-top:29%;">
<h1><marquee behavior="scroll" direction="right" scrollamount="5">firefighter</marquee></h1>

	</div><!-- .entry-content -->

Edit: Somehow, "firefighter" was given a scroll amount, but there is no such thing for "coin". Weird.

No idea how it looked before this.

It was from a post on the Court Records forums in their ZE thread, looks like a website that Aksys hosts.
http://forums.court-records.net/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=20675&start=2200
Theres a better explanation of it here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/ZeroEscape/...the_website_brarius_have_anything_to_do_with/

I should give credit to the ZE Subreddit who found it really, not me :) Unfortunately the phrase itself (Nice Try) points to a massive troll.
Every phrase put into it seems to have something to do with Anime Expo or a VN, eg "wolfrhythym" was about Hakuoki, that otome game.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing (and props to whoever found this).

So this site has been displaying the phrase "nice try" for over 3 years now, but adding words after the / in "li.brari.us/" will link you to other pages on the official Aksys site.

e.g. li.brari.us/wolfrhythm => Hakuoki Page

My only question would be how people on the subreddit found out about this now, after nobody saw it for 3 years. Is it just because nobody was looking for it? If someone from Aksys nudged them in the right direction or let it slip unintentionally, it could be related. Otherwise, I'd say it's just another weird coincidence.

Has someone tried this with the words on 4infinity?

Edit: "coin", "firefighter" and the reverse of both lead to the main directory.

This is the search bar thing all over again isn't it? There's probably some explanation for why certain words work that has nothing to do with this teaser.

Ah awesome there's a thread. Really ridiculous why this isn't allowed on gaming sections. Feels someone has a personal grudge against this game for some reason.

Anyway, didn't know about any of Uchikoshi's comments/tweets/replies to people about it. Making me believe it is ZE3 more! If not... Uchikoshi is pretty mean for not putting those rumours aside straight away.

It's definitely something Uchikoshi related at least, if not ZE3. If it wasnt theres no way he would have tweeted the mysterious numbers and the "Did you scream?" thing.

This itself would make this the best gaming news of the year, and that is saying something.

Also, while I am not sure if it is this way for other devices, but on my laptop "firefighter" seems to be scrolling exactly half as fast as "coin". Might be significant.

Edit: I think the speed difference between the words is different on my phone(much, much amaller) , so feel free to disregard the later half of this post.

Honestly, if it weren't for his tweets I would've mostly brushed this whole thing off.

Also, that's an interesting idea. I hadn't considered that while this might not be ZE3, it could still be an Uchikoshi project. I can't speak for everyone here, but if it's an Uchikoshi project I would be satisfied (or at least interested) with the result of this teaser even if it wasn't ZE3.

We're expecting a change in the counter later tonight, right?
As for what it could be, didnt he say he was working on a game version of Punchline? It could be that.

Yup, at 17.15 EST the counter will go from 0202 to 0201. According to an interview late last year in Famitsu, Uchikoshi had plans to work on multiple games in 2015 (one of them being Punchline), I'll add a bit of that stuff in the next thread update.

A counter reading Zero-Three-Zero-Three with this font from Aksys that goes on for almost 4 months; Like lazyproblems, I'd be pretty OK with anything Uchikoshi related, BUT not with a localization of Punchline. And honestly, I can't see Aksys being that stupid/deceptive.

True. Aksys arent stupid, they know we'd all freak out over "Zero-Three-Zero-Three", and Uchikoshi's tweets dont sound like they suggest anything about Punchline really (imo).

It's fun to look at Uchikoshi's two twitter accounts, it's a bit like looking at someone with split personalities using separate accounts of each one of them ;)

On the Japanese account, he goes on and on about Punchline.
On the English account, he doesn't mention it at all and he talks about VLR/999/Ever17 and shares pictures from Japan.

You're not missing out on much. He talks about Punchline episodes, podcast, fan-meeting, youtube trailers, and wouldn't you know it, the theme song is in the Anime Music Top 10 on the Japanese itunes store...riveting stuff :)
