Definitely looks a helluva lot different than the previous incarnations, which was obviously a goal here. Overall I like it, if for no other reason than they're trying something different than the typical clown look. I'm witholding judgment until we see him in motion, in character. I remember when we got the first image of Ledger's Joker:

...and a lot of people thought it was boring as shit until we finally saw him in the trailers.

But now that we got the look outta way, the real selling point for me is the voice. Is he using his normal voice like Jack, or something awesome like Ledger?

Some people have theorized that Leto has been teasing his "Joker voice" lately. For example, this video of him at a concert from a few weeks back.

The tattoos are too self-aware for Joker, especially "Damaged". He's uniquely deranged, not theatric. At least, that's how he should be IMO. Hopefully they're just for this early reveal pic. However they end up going I'll wait on the finished product, because Leto can certainly act.

Let's just make something clear here, by my own guesses

- this joker design is intentionally as far from ledger as possible. They couldn't go dirty/deformed like ledger, and I would argue they couldn't really go back to a joker similar to Nicholson's either.

- the photo released is purposely shot to amplify the differences to the previous two actors, but especially ledger to an extreme.

- I would guess he will be shown next wearing a suit, likely with its own look but still very joker. He's not gonna be ass naked for the whole film.

I don't mind punk Joker, but upon reflection, these tattoos are way too "face value" for Joker.

He would get tattoos to troll the world. I could see him getting a tattoo like "mama" or "yolo", not at face value, but because of how stupid they are.

I could definitely see him getting a Batman tattoo.

After looking at it longer then the last 3 seconds before posting. I must say it is pretty good if that is the final product.

Only issue for me personally, is the damaged tattoo, tacky and out of place really. But I do love the teeth because if the rumors are true that suicide squad takes place after man of steel but before batmanvsuperman. Then it would make sense that this joker is what caused batman to give up the cape and it was because joker pushed him to far and batman in his anger punched him to much he broke all his teeth. So for that idea I like it.

Just that forehead tattoo I can't get over. The other tattoos are fine but that damaged one, I don't think I'll ever get over it.

And that would be fine if this was a one-off. But this is a franchise character that they've ginned up. Can you honestly tell me that you see this character as being taken seriously by what we've seen of Ben Affleck's Batman?

I can't even take Affleck's Batman seriously at this point. I'm withholding judgment until I actually see him in action, just like I am with Leto's Joker.

I'm not a fan of knee jerk reactions.

Like I mentioned before, I was super hard on Ledger as Joker, and he won me over hard. I'm going to let Affleck and Leto do their thing first. We've gotten a lot of very different interpretations of the Joker over the decades, from Romero to Ledger. I want to see where this one goes that the others haven't. It's actually kind of exciting.
