Can someone tell me why that messy HUD is showing when he's just walking?

lmao @ Geralt's weather widget

Because the person playing has it set up to do so. Theres a shit ton of hud options so you can show as much or as little of it as you please.

  • Light armor (Cat): is a best pick for skilled swordsman. It does bring lowest armor boost from all armor types, but brings increased damage and cricital damage for fast attacks. Best armor type for person who loves to be quick and deadly sword fighter.
  • Medium armor (Gryphin): is useful for person which uses/specializes in signs. It boosts your vigor regeneration and signs intensivity.
  • Heavy Armor (Bear): gives the most protection, gives damage boost for your strong/heavy attacks and gives you additional HP. Good choice for Alchemists who have good healing capabilities and doesn't have much critical chance, also it will be usefull for swordsmans who choose Strong Atttack skill line. At example Bear Armor is heavy armor.

I thought I would go for medium armors and play with a bit of everything (sword, magic, alchemy), but I really like their heavy armor designs mmm.... decisions...

Yeah, Apparently this is hard to grasp for some...

Anyway, I'm holding off with watching more vids for now. Showing Ciri's gameplay is a fuck up and should be labelled as spoiler. Fortunately I've not seen it and I want to be surprised as often as possible while playing.
I know all the mechanics and visuals now so only things I'm interesting at this point is some PS4 footage and good reviews.

You know a fantasy game has hit the right notes when you look at a village and say 'Yeah, I want to live there.'

Hell, or even just a snowy field at the foot of the mountains, gorgeous cliffs by the sea with Viking ships in the distance or a fjord with beautiful streams flowing through it. This game is just dripping with both majestic atmosphere and old world appeal that actually looks medieval, outside of the fantasy stuff.

Always on HUD is a gross idea. I get it, there's some options. It doesn't change the bizarre truth that they spent time making a widget that says in text what weather you see with your very own eyes.

They put time into making a HUD that says too much, with an style that is lacking subtlety to avoid intrusion. Many have said so here, even in the Gopher videos, and it adds another bad layer to see images of what is either poor contextual/fading HUD elements that cause it to be on inappropriately or the baffling choice of someone to want an information overload when walking indoors.

Inquisition had armors with hammer detail and other smithing details like various splitting marks in the metal. It's a nice change from more polished armors so I'm glad W3 has a lot of details like that.

I shouldn't be surprised, Inquisition is a very good looking game. I probably missed it because I was running it on low-medium for the most part, and no screenshots had it jump out at me.

For such a small touch, it adds a remarkable amount of character to the armour.

Yeah, looks great.. I love this scene as well: (bad YT quality, but still looks great) - and one detail, only Geralt's hair reacts to wind :)

We need to start an upgrade fund for you or somethin'?

A customizable HUD is a fantastic idea though. I could not care less what they spent time making as long as I have the option to do what I want with it. If you think the weather widget is dumb you can turn it off. If you think the quest log is too large, you can make it smaller. If you want your health bar to hide unless you are in combat, you can do that too. As baffling as it may be to you, maybe there are some people who want it there? I can show you some WoW UIs where there are maybe 6 inches of the screen not buried in hud. I dont know what other people want, I do know what I want and I'm very happy that they've given me extensive options to tweak things to my own liking.

So basically you're complaining about devs time management now? Ok.
They've made customisable HUD so people who like weather widgets can keep it and people who don't can get rid of it. They've spend time to cater for wide range of gamers.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I have next to no problem with the hud and I'm usually picky about them. Seems pretty simple and basic to me, easy to turn off more intrusive and useless stuff.

Does anyone know if the Witcher's medallion plays a role in gameplay in Witcher 3? In the previous games it always signified monsters or magic, vibrating in the UI.

I havent seen the medallion up top vibrating. However, someone did say that the medallion causes the controller to vibrate. No idea how that would be handled on KB/M.

Some high res goodness:

lol, did you blur out the quest info, or did they?

Fortunately, I'm Witcher ready now. Couldn't resist playing a new Witcher day-1 on something more than a potato this time.

The days of 640*480 Witcherin' are over.
Hold your tears; I only had to do it for one part of Witcher 2's prologue, and the pentultimate boss battle. It was glorious.

The HUD element and Geralt mentioning it was generally enough in the previous games, at least for the less common uses of its powers. Like, for finding secrets.

Maybe have medallions eyes glow bright when it's "vibrating" so KB/M peeps also get a hint? Will be little awkward if you need pad to get medallion functions.

This reminds me how tight my budget is and need keep squeezing life out from my old horse :(

Edit:

They are learning! Soon they will take over the world!

Sorry if it has been posted, but anyone know if one can assign hot keys to the minimap in such a way that it can be toggled with a hotkey and not just with an options menu? I'd like to be able to roll most of the time with no HUD, but often in an open world game you need to see where your quests are etc.

How hilarious would it be if you came to a town at the dead of night, killed all live stock while the people slept, hung around until dawn, and the villages freak out and leave

Has the Ciri gameplay been posted yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHNOLytV6hU

Those YT comments are... well, they are something

News update from Jesse Cox:
Update on Witcher stuff..Turns out the problem with Adobe is my HDD is near death. So I've saved everything, but I need to re-install and fix crap. What this means is the big edited video will take longer to get done. BUT, the good news is, I found a clip I want to show you, that's unedited and would be a great lead in to my "preview video". I'll get that for you for Fan Friday.

Two scoops of downgrade, a dash of gamersgate, a pinch of console wars, and a little piece of incest to top it off. Delicious...

I will buy a PS4 for this game and Bloodborne. I am looking for some good deals but i might just stop waiting and get it for Bloodborne already. Cannot wait much longer.

uhhh? It is a tree. Rather, a bunch of trees with a house in front.

Reframe:

DDDBn7T.jpg

It looks like trees, then one big green texture, then back to maybe trees again further away. LOD/pop-in glitch? It seems to go from trees into one huge green texture.

The furthest trees look more like trees than that texture in between the higher detail ones and the furthest set.

Holy shit, you are me. I could only get the game up to 800x600 though.
