NPD Sales Results for March 2015 [Up1: Nintendo numbers, PS4 placing]

Weird... may have already been asked, but given their month long trade in deal for a PS4, could this have affected the chart? Does Amazon count "bought with trade in" as a different type of sale? It seems odd that the system would die out likes this, during a month of promotions of all months. Has any of our Retail partners chimed in? (If not, I will wait until the April thread to speculate...)

No the PS4 was sold out, the main issue is TLOU bundle which was struggling int he bottom 60's or less for most of the time until a few days ago.

Also weird is ther PS4 is coming back up and despite being the best selling SKU everywhere else and being features the Halo MCC is struglgling.

There should be one more update to the chart after today, but it's weird how strange things are. Now ACU is dropping, PS4 regular is rising, TLOU is falling, and Halo MCC continues to struggle in the 60's area.

As for the PS4 deal you spoke about those should count. Just liek the XBL,Nba2k15,ACU bundle counts.

At BB if you traded in a 250GB 360 or PS3 Slim you could get an Xbox One for $175.

It was one week though, but the Gamestop one was 3 weeks long.

ohhhhhhh. Ok. Sorry haha, thought you meant $175 for Xbox One on its own, no trade in deal thingy.

I was indded oddly correct, Amazon did include the first 2 days of may for the april results (since those 2 days are part of the same whole week) now the AU and PS4 are right next to each other.

If not mistaken, April NPD tracking ended yesterday according to another user.

However, unless this is the month amazon is wrong, looks like the winner has been decided for this month.

Yes, PS4 wins again.

I'm actually kinda surprised it still managed to outsell the XB1 SKUs what with it dropping out of stock for an extended period multiple times. No doubt it comes out on top overall for the month since there haven't been any reports of stocking issues outside of Amazon for whatever reason.

Looks like the PS4 wins again, even on Amazon despite the stock issues. Wonder how much better it did at other retailers.

Just goes to show even with stock issues from Amazon main seller people still bought from third party retailers on Amazon and it still managed to beat AC Bundle & MCC Bundle.

Actually that's not what happened at all, what happened was the PS4 started high before the stock issues gave it severe drop,s and remember, the ACU bundle was in the 80's heading out until it started magically rising, so it's not surprising that the ACU bundle didn't win, it's more surprising that it's even that close, point blank range, to the PS4. While the Halo MCC pretty much stayed around the same 5 spots on monthly, and struggled even being featured.

Hm, after looking at Amazon + "PS3/Xbox360 trade-in" deal for the XBO..... seems like it's possible that XBO "won" April NPD.

I actually think it's still possible, the ACU and PS4 bundle are spit next to each other, and the Halo MCC bundle is only a few spaces behind both of them. I know Amazon can't use numbers, but considering the positions of those 3 are close it may be possible that the Halo MCC and ACU combined are actually more than the PS4 and TLOU sku's. (TLOU bundle didn't even chart.)

But we'll have to wait and see for that.

Yeah, it's amazing to see the PS4 standalone ahead of the Halo MCC XB1 bundle for a while despite being out of stock.

It may be possible, but doesn't the PS4 have any special offers at Gamestop as well? Also, according to Abdiel, the PS4 was ahead at the stores in his district.

It didn't start magically rising, it had two special offers, the ACU Bundle with Extra Controller & the ACU Bundle with NBA2K15 and 1 year of Xbox Live. Meanwhile PS4 had stock issues for 2 weeks while that was happening. Even though Amazon paints a pretty picture for the Xbox One we have gotten confirmation that it isn't the same for the other retailers. It's highly unlikely Xbox One wins April IMO.

There was a PS4 stock issue at amazon?

To keep it short, yeah sorta.

Agreed. While Amazon had stock issues, other retailers most likely had the PS4 ahead of the XB1 in sales like all other months aside from holiday 2014.

As long as the PS4 was available in regular brick and mortar stores it will comfortably win the month isn't it?

I mean, I saw that stat saying Amazon USA counts for like 5% of sales overall so even with PS4 Sku quite close to the Xbone one that likely doesn't mean much.

Edit: nvm seems Javin98 was right on the "nose" before I posted.

The ACU bundle did come out of nowhere before the deals, and the deals themselves were already done before which is why people thinking those heavily bumped the ACU are confusing to me, and I find it strange the interest in those deals are gone only a couple days into the month of may, so that seems to kill the momentum argument, and also removes doubts if they alone were the reason for the ACU bundle to jump up like 40-50 spaces in a 3 week period. It doesn't add up my friend.

Another thing that seems odd is that those deals pretty much did nothing for the Xbox One before so why do a significant random increase now? Then cut off in May, while the deal is still active?.Also, If I'm not mistaken the other NBA deal was the same as the current one WITH an extra controller, but I may be wrong on that.

But the point is the PS4 regular isn't really being brought as an explanation as to why it still managed to be ahead, it just started the month high off of march, and yes, that was a very strong March for the PS4. Also because the PS4 is ahead on Amazon I'm not sure what you mean by paint a pretty picture unless that pretty picture is the Xbox one losing.

That depends, Online Bestbuy has the Xbox one ahead, but a Best Buy worker here said the Xbox one isn't moving much.

That's interesting.

I guess I'd still expect more people walking into stores with the intent of buying a PS4 but maybe Best Buy had some nice online deals for a XBone?

You lost me, what doesn't add up?
PS4 Stock issues + XBO deals = XBO Sales boost
Just look at the hourly charts now in May, since the XBO deals have ended and PS4 is no longer having stock issues it's next to the ACU Bundle. Granted that is TLOU Bundle but the Standard SKU is also climbing up.

Edit: Also, I don't know where you get that the AC Bundle was sky-rocketing before the deals?, those look like regular bumps for it being lower than the PS4 to me.

Actually yes, in the first part of the Month, the free Windows Phone offer was still in effect,t hen they switched to trade-in deals where you can get an Xbox one for a low price if you traded in your 360/PS3. But the last one was in store only, so that wouldn't effect the online site.

Nope, doesn't work.

It doesn't add-up because the deals didn't work before, and the ACU bundle was yding despite it having deals and despite the Halo MCC NOT being features, then all of a sudden ACU busts out of nowhere, THEN the deals happen, but the deals are not directly features, the Halo MCC is put on the features list (The NBA ACU deal does rotate on the rotation features list but you get different thing all the time with that) and Halo MCC struggles (Until recently) for weeks while the ACU bundle is gaining grounds.

It's even more strange sicne the NBA bundle took awahile to actually take effect since NBA wasn't moving much until a week ago.

Also remember the PS4 is still ahead, all I'm saying is your comment about people still buying PS4's which is why it's ahead isn't really the case, it started off april strong and ACU bundle was way in the back. I was never expecting the ACU to win the month, but it almost did and that is very strange.

Edit: it skyrocketed by jumping from being in right next to the last 10 and heading off the charts, to the upper 50's and all of a sudden the Halo MCC nose dives. Halo MCC was doing that before the deals as well, and Halo MCC was featured in the front page listing wheel for video games.

Again it's all very strange so we shouldn't look in depth to Amazon. But I do think there's a chance considering the positions on the chart of the PS4, Halo MCC, and ACU bundles. But I'm not going to say anything concrete as Amazon is confusing.

Don't worry I'm not trying to pin you in a corner lol, I get your point to some degree but the deals & stock issue due have some factor to this weird month is all I am saying.

What really amazes me though is how much did MS ship on AC Bundles and why do retailers still have them even though their is another recent bundle being shipped?

That is what I really want to know!

I am pretty sure that Microsoft shipped ACU after the holidays. Because if they didn't the ACU probably would have been cleared off by now and completely replaced. On some charts the ACU bundle is still a top seller, I do believe Microsoft overshipped for the holiday, I DO NOT believe they overshipped so much that you can stack them all past the Ozone layer on top of each other.

I'm sure Microsoft sent out another 1 or 2 shipments of the ACU bundle because it's the only explanation. However, to answer your other question retailers have them because apparently they still sell. I guess not everybody brought Unity yet for some reason.

Oh of course, I don't doubt MS did 1 or 2 extra shipments do to demand but we have gotten 1 or 2 bishchecked folk around here saying that they want to clear out AC Bundle stock.

I think one of those extra shipments was one too many and now retailers have a lot of extra stock therefore making deals like Amazon & GameStop to clear them out.

I'm just amazed since the MCC Bundle has already been out a month and retailers haven't managed to clear AC Bundle out yet.

Insiders confirmed there was massive back stock of the ACU SKU after the holidays. Combine that with the very very low shipment numbers following the holidays (1.6 million 360 + XB1) it's far more likely that whatever stock was sent out was their new SKU the MCC bundle.

You've posted a lot in this thread continuously obfuscating actual information with very broad assumptions based off of unreliable or genuinely suspect information (best buy online charts, Target online charts, Walmart online charts, GameStop online charts and Amazon hourly charts). Why are you so insistent on pushing a dialogue of surprising success for XB1? You throw weight behind numbers and stats that have very little actual significance and use them to extrapolate this exaggerated positive outlook for XB1 sales. It's obnoxiously blatant.

Amazon April Rank up to April 27th.

#41 PS4
#42 Xbone AC bundle - this bundle never ends
#52 Xbone MCC bundle - people choose the AC over MCC
#62 Wii U
#96 PS4 Batman bundle - It won't count for this month

PS. It is not the full amazon month yet because it needs the update sales for half of last week.

Charts are near meaningless without context. A costly lesson I had to learn myself.

Context: this month Amazon had stock issues multiple times with the PS4 SKU for some unknown reason while also hosting multiple value added bundles for the XB1 ACU bundle (NBA, Controller + live). Both of these would impact sales and skew the results in XB1s favor indicating a likely deviation from the market at large. Despite that deviation PS4 still outsold both XB1 SKUs. So, logically, since these market skews are absent in the retailer market its reasonable to assume that the difference in sales will be far more pronounced in said market than on Amazon.

That might be there area, but this isn't just at Bestbuy or Walmart this is all over where the ACU is still being sold and still being a best selling item. In fact, I DOUBT they are trying to clear them or stores would have ACU deals with something extra or so TO clear them.

When did I post walmart or target online charts? In fact, i have constantly in this thread said let's look at MONTHLY Amazon charts for POSITIONS on the chart, I never once tried to analyze numbers directly. I haven't pushed any dialogue, i even said XBox most likely lost due to the current amazon ranking 3 TIMES.
Even Ehtomaz, who you're not accusing of pushing a dialogue, below your post here, is saying Amazon monthly is not done updating, I thought it was, so he's opening the subject back up again, is he pushing for Xbox success to?

Where's the information at? Is there a page showing it's not done updating?

Why are we even doing this again? We all know if nothing major happens Xbox One won't win NPD until October. Please guys Amazon will not make Xbox One win, stop adding days to the monthly charts. We got our data from it let's just move on.

Where are you two finding out which days are not updated I can't find anything, you guys must have the secret codes

Only secret code I know is the Konami code.

If Amazon doesn't have the next week available to look at, it usually means that the current week is not updated yet.
