Legend of Legacy being localized by Atlus?

DAY ONE!

POOR BRAVELY DEFAULT!

still believing that SQEX-chan will announce it this E3 lol

Well, at least one of the two "saga" games is getting localized =P

Anyway, the game seems fun but I heard pretty much nothing after it came out =X

Published by Furyu. Developed by ex-Square staff. That said, I didn't end up liking it nearly as much as I wanted to. Masashi Hamauzu's soundtrack is fantastic, though.

Details? The people I've spoken to seem pretty happy with it--not blown away, but they expected diet SaGa and they got it.

That's what smart people would do, don't forget we're talking about Square Enix here

They released their own MH-like for 3DS at the end of last yeae (Final Fantasy Explorers) but it's just another game to throw on the 'y'all ain't never gettin' it" pile, I suppose.

My problem with the game is the game flow. It comes down to exploring big boxy maps, filling them in, then returning the map to the king, repeat repeat repeat. There's not much else to the game. I didn't find the fields to be very interesting to explore to begin with, and battles take a lot longer than I'd like. It's certainly SaGa inspired when it comes to combat and character growth, but the stuff around it wasn't interesting to me. With a better game loop, or a more interesting combat hook, I might have felt differently. Hell, even if the battles were a little faster, I might have felt differently.

My thoughts exactly on this game. I enjoyed it for the first hour or two, but after playing 5 hours and realising there was nothing more to the game, I just dropped it because I no longer had any desire to do the "repeat repeat repeat" you mention. If there was a deeper, more interesting story to occasionally interrupt the repetition, I'd probably have enjoyed it more.

To be fair, a lot of SaGa "stories" are just randomly-presented chunks of nothing, framed as a "branching narrative" or whatever, so it sounds like business as usual with LoL.

Fair enough. That much seemed evident from the pre-release info, so I suppose it's reassuring to know it's merely dull in a way everyone sorta presumed it might be, rather than in some new and shocking way.

Pretty pretty happy with this, I wonder if we'll get some of the neat bonuses that all those Japanese retailers gave out too?

I've played and enjoyed Saga games in the past (Saga 2 on the DS is one of my favourite games ever), but none of them felt as empty and lifeless (and repetitious) as this game.

I think the other 3DS game he mentioned is Langrisser Revival, that fits the bill to a tee.

John lets LoL slip with this:

“That’s not to say we’re not looking beyond not-not just Aquaplus and Spike Chun, and everything. I hope we see a lot more Japanese games come over here. Actually, we did announce The Legend of Legacy is coming over here, and we have another one in the can, too, that I can’t talk about yet, ha ha ha ha. But another really niche Japanese game that actually isn’t even out yet—we’re bringing it over for the 3DS later this year. What could it be?”

I listened to the entire interview and he never mentions Stella Glow. He most likely got the two mixed up.

I liked it a lot, especially the battle system which is the highlight of the game.
Though it's certainly not a game for everyone. I think I'm the only gaffer who actually finished it :(
And the only one who thinks the soundtrack was meh.

Hmm, or he didn't mention Stella Glow and there is a third title. Only time will tell.

Yeah, why would he be so secretive about Stella Glow.
I could understand if he just mixed up the names, but that description wouldn't quite match up to this.

Eh, sometimes people just forget when they work on so many titles. If you take into account what Aeana said earlier, it makes sense that he could've just mixed up which one was already announced since they sounded like they were together.

Either way, a PR will probably be out next week now lol

Would love for Atlus to grab Rorona 3DS, but NISA should grab that if KT don't do it themselves since they were doing all the Atelier games before and now work on Nintendo systems again with Rodea.

Langrisser looks... not that good IMO if I'm honest.

Hope they clarify if this "not out in Japan yet) 3DS game is neither LoL or Stella Glow.

sheeeeit, man.

I'd have to check, but is this possibly the busiest year ever for Atlus? They are importing an awful lot of product these days.

With this game added in, we have what now, 6 3DS games for 2015 alone? And that doesn't even include other platforms yet.

It's like they've gone beastmode, and I for one am very pleased (and will buy all of the games at launch).
