Finally, after many months, there is another update for the backers of 90's Arcade Racer. First a nice video:

And the list of tracks:

TRACKS

Here is a breakdown of the race tracks:

Oval: This is the most basic track in the game, it's a good place to practice and get accustomed to the game's drift mechanics.
Difficulty: Easy

Oval Infield: A few tricky corners can catch you out so you will have to use the brakes.

Playroom: Another bonus track, this one is inspired by Scalextric, the famous slot racing toy.
Difficulty: Medium

The game might still come this year, although at this point I don't know how reliable is any estimation from the developer or the producers.

Edit: just to be clear, this is scheduled also for a PC release.

I had been wondering where this disappeared to. I hope it makes it to release! I didn't back it but it sure looks like fun.

Music sounds like it was done by an early 90's Amiga demo group.

I came in thinking I was going to be criticizing the game for that. Then I remembered the game's title.

Spot on.

The low-poly look of the VR track is spot-on. I know, Nicalis, never coming out, etc etc, but... please come out soon!

I like the colours and the themes and car selection but some of the track layouts look way too simple for the speed...the initial long stretch in the video was painful.

Do different vehicles do different speeds? That'd be good. Doesn't seem like much difference at the moment from the screenshots on the kickstarter.

God damn I need this

Placeholder announcer was a little bleh (I assume it's just a developer) so hopefully that'll be replaced with some over the top voice to complete the package. Regardless, looks fantastic

Not actually that important
The video put some big question mark in my hype for the game: track layouts seem waaaay to tame. Outrun 2's handling needs O2's crazy ass chicanes filled tracks to work and be fun and demanding. Uhmm.
Visually it looks amazing, a lost Sega arcade game... basically my dream game.

I fear it won't support FFB wheels and if they don't it's gonna lose a big part of the experience for me. I guess we'll see when the game's come out on PAL WiiU a couple months NX's release.

Lol at the announcer's Spanish accent! Why? XD
Hopefully it's just a placeholder... I need mah Sega-man impression right down to GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES

I was so excited for this last year. Glad to see it's not dead but with no release date, I'm still skeptical if the Wii U will ever see it!

Most anticipated game for me since I first found the Kickstarter. Game looks like it's coming along really, really nicely.

Why don't you just hunt down some arcade machines?

Wow, 9 tracks. I thought there would only be 3-4.

Oh now I see. 4 tracks, but 2 paths through each. At least for the first couple.

Looks good with one car but thought I saw some jutter during the toy track bit. Be interesting to see other cars at once.

I dunno who the dev is, why does everybody say it won't come out?

I wasn't that impressed with the last footage I saw months ago but this looks better for some reason. I'm back to being interested in the game.

Looks amazing! And the bonus Pang arcade remake at the end, oh wow :D
Can't believe this is the WiiU version though, looks way too good with too many details and effects for running at 60fps. Only one car on track though but I'm still sceptical. Delayed for a future NX release?

This game doesnt look "Amazing" by any means, but I would pick it up if they gave it some more arcadey and attractive audio. Right now, the experience looks a bit stale. If they're going 90s they have to go all in and make it extreme.

Also, was that Buster Bros at the end!?
Hell yeah!

Lol, I always forget about this game, and then when I see it again I really want to dig into it. This is no exception, I think it looks great, we all know how that release date will be, but man when it does release, i'll be a damn happy guy.

If this ever does come out, please let it have an unlocked framerate on PC. I need a fun racer to play at 144fps.

Like it was mentioned in the Youtube comments (hey, something worthwhile in the friggin' Youtube comments!), this really needs an announcer yelling "CHECKPOINT" every checkpoint

In what way does this footage look better than games like MK8? And MK8 is 12 cars at 60 fps.

as I was saying in the other thread, I'd buy it it it will ever come out. it reminds me a lot of Sega Rally x Daytona
