Is that so, They always used the playstation version during streams, Conan, and demos so I thought that was Sony paying for marketing.

So how bout that link?

And btw I was strictly talking about what I saw promotion wise with the tournament and tv ad's I saw for it that flashed the new price of xbox one at the end.

Yeah, 114k is pathetic when you factor in the new SKU. Clearly the New 3DS didn't reinvigorate the platform like Nintendo expected it to. At least Xenoblade kinda did well...?

There werent any big releases to drive sales and there's little incentive for upgrading to a n3dsxl.

Price is also a huge factor, Nintendo is price gouging. $300 for a wiiu is way too much to still be asking and the n3dsxl is $230+adapter+tax. Regular xls are $200. Before the n3dsxl released the regular XL would go on sale for $130-150 regularly. Since the n3dsxl there have been no sales on either unit and prices remain at the overpriced msrp.

The Splatoon bundle will do okay, but it's only going to make a difference if it launches alongside a major price cut. I suppose Nintendo could still be planning a cut at the last minute, as they wouldn't want to completely kill sales in the meantime.

If they haven't done it by Black Friday, you'll probably be able to get an new XBO or PS4 cheaper than a new WiiU.

I don't see how they announce a price cut on the Splatoon bundle when they already sent out a PR stating the price. I also thought the bundle was Best Buy exclusive.

Either way, Mario Kart bundle >>> Splatoon bundle.

Gratz MS. I aint even mad, they probably only won by a few thousand units.
PS4 either had a shortage, people are waiting for Batman bundle, or BloodBorne was crazy front loaded.
Who knows....

As an Xbox One owner I'm trying to think of what was happening to cause the win. I bought MKX, but that's multiconsole. I really have no idea.

Good for them regardless.

Impressive, most impressive. This sort of thing keeps everyone on their feet, no stagnation between these big boys. Gonna be a big battle at E3. Bring it! Though I still want longer recording times with the DVR function, hmpth.

Impulse purchasers jumped in on Bloodborne after all the 9s and 10s, died a million times, and told their friends that it sucked.

Casual word of mouth won't be carrying it, but it's probably already sold enough and will continue to do so to have been worthwhile on Sony's part.

It is also quite different from prior games despite people calling it a souls game. The diminished variety of items and types of viable gameplay make it less of an rpg and more of a strait up action game, and not a particularly good one imo. And then there is the art style which may not be as appealing.

You realise BB is selling more than past games that were multiplatform?
I really doubt tbh,

I say it mostly because the numbers used for comparation last month didn't had the sales of the PC version and also don't include the re-release of the SoTFS version.

Some retailer did $125-175 trade-in to buy a Xbone this month.

So you could buy it at $175 + (PS3 or 360).

Really random X1 win since there were no big releases. Where there any new bundles or promotions?

And it seems Bloodborne has no legs in the US. Sales were very front loaded and it lost momentum. It still did great numbers but I think more was expected.

ps4 not winning april npd is obviously the result of the constant delays of the few exclusives announced by sony, refusal to remain priced competitively against xbox due to sony's obvious cockiness, relying on third parties and indies, lack of meaningful system software updates; have you seen the screen shots image quality on xbox one? ps4's only critically acclaimed exclusive so far is incredibly niche it is not hard to see why ps4 did not maintain momentum, the better console won this month

Wow. Seems like you want to get something off your chest.

Surprised by the Xone sales, PS4 really drop off.

So to answer your question more generally, here are some major franchises and what they have been selling recently:

GTA: 35 million (or 45 if we want to count PS4/XB1, but I realize there's a lot of rebuying here)
CoD: 20-25 million
Diablo: 20+ million
Elder Scrolls: 20+ million
Battlefield: 15-18 million
FIFA: 12-14 million[/b]
Pokemon: 10-14 million
Assassin's Creed: 10-12 million
Watch Dogs: 10+ million
Smash Bros: 10+ million
Borderlands: 10+ million
Far Cry: 7-10 million
Tomb Raider: 8.5 million
The Last of Us: 7 million
NBA: 7-8 million
Fallout: 6+ million
Resident Evil: 6+ million
Madden: 5-6 million
Gears of War: 5-6 million
Uncharted: 5-6 million
Need For Speed: 4-5 million

I haven't even listed out things like Mario or Zelda or Destiny or Gran Turismo or Halo or LEGO or Skylanders.

2 million isn't very big by today's standards, especially for a $60 retail title.

I think is unfair compare a exclusive game with multiplat sales.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Since the release of New Nintendo 3DS in February this year, especially for the large-screened New Nintendo 3DS XL, stock in stores has continued to run low in the U.S. and Europe, which of course is a sign that the game platform has momentum

From the recent Nintendo's Investor Meeting. Considering what said and how the XL is the only SKU available in US, I wonder if those had an effect, for a (lower than expected) April result fo 3DS.

I mean: if shortages were present in April too (as Iwata's statement imply), maybe the console would've sold more in line with general expectations, like 140,000-150,000

Sony on the defensive? Good lord. Its one month where they were most likely barely outsold. In ONE country where they already have a decent lead.

I'm more wondering what occurred on the Xbox side yo have the good sales. There weren't any releases of note were there?

No Sony is not "on the defensive", I agree. But maybe they'll get more "offensive"?

April NPD is only 1 month of the year, but the PS4 sales are down Yoy for the entire first quarter of 2015, -and- again in April.
Combine that with a missed sales target in FY '14 (14.8m instead of 15m), and that they have been agressive in the past (PS2) when already ahead if only to counter a competitor rising by doing a $100 price drop around the 19 month mark (next month for the PS4), then you'll see why many now expect a price drop sooner (June) rather than later (October).

Oh I know, it's a silly concept that one month of what is likely a very soft loss would matter at all. But E3 is coming and this time each year perception is currency. If they don't drop the price you can bet your ass they're gonna get a lot of leading questions from the likes of Geoff Keighley. Not saying it's a deciding factor, just that it might contribute.

People attack me when I say that PS4 is not so hot for a market leader in USA an this month proved again.

I know PS4 worlwide sales are amazing, but this isn't the case in America.

Just when Wii U was starting to do a tiny bit good las month compared to last year and this happens. The console already has Mario Kart and Smash Bros yet it only move 43k this month. All my optimism towards the console has lost and now im worried about Splatoon. What if it doesn't even chart next month and since this is mostly an online multiplayer game the lobbies will be practically dead a month after release... God damn it Nintendo :'(

Looking forward to an awesome E3 by Nintendo tho.
