Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

It's probably best not to expect GT7 to pop up at any specific place. That way you aren't disappointed if it's not there. We'd already seen GT's running on the PS2 and PS3 by this point in their generation. In fact GT3 had already been released for the PS2 and we had GTHD on the PS3. I can't find when GT1 was first revealed, so it's possible that it was already shown by this point in its generation. I know that it released three years after the PSone launched.

But it would be the perfect show closer for E3 this year. Especially if it's coming sooner than we think. I just can't wait to see what it looks like. Especially since PD no longer has to deal with the PS3's architecture. I mean the GT5/6 trailers still stand up to any racer this gen and they're just GT5/6 running at a higher resolution with cleaner visuals.

I wonder if Amar knows of anything regarding GT7 at E3.

The birds will sing....

They have no other option as they are receiving punches and uppercuts from other racing titles... the E3 is the perfect timing to swing back!

As if they care.

They don't.

With every new racing game coming out it becomes more and more clear how much GT5 was ahead of everything even 5 years ago.

Polyphony achieved the miracle on hardware less powerfull than new LG refrigirators. Not even to speak about aheer volume of options and details all other genre titles can only dream about.

Kaz is sippin his Italian wines and smokes his mentols and smiles.

Time works for them. He can be very proud.

You're not wrong, last night after I'd done the 2nd academy round, I was watching the replay and just marvelling at how natural that sunset lighting was on the car. Still shocked that they pulled it off with the PS3.

Still waiting for my GPS course maker though...

Was discussing this in the Next Gen Faceoff regarding graphics and how GT5/6 were pushing almost as many and in 6's case more pixels while holding a fairly steady frame rate than the XB1 version of Project Cars, on a machine with 256MB of available memory.

What they did back there was mind blowing and what they eventually bring to the PS4 will be pushing the hardware again like before.

How does GT6 compare to that new Car Project game?

Doesn't come out until the 12th in the US for consoles. Conjecturing off of impressions it seems the physics are a bit better. Career mode is weird and doesn't really give you a sense of progression.

Please bring back that wind simulation. Anyone got the gif of the car going offtrack and the wind interacting with the dust?

Racecars: pCARS>GT6
Road cars: GT6>pCARS

Just coming late to Academy party!

PSN friend requests to chillumchilla please, I want more squiggly lines.

I hope you like bronze squiggly lines because that's about all I can muster right now. I'm by no means a top contender so I'm just trying to advance to the next round to get the free car/gear/chip/whatever when this thing wraps up.

I haven't played this but have you tried Assetto Corsa? Easily beats both in race and roadcars?

IMO, AC is the "most realistic" sim at the moment and easily the one I play the most. There are some strange characteristics but it gets the most right and the least wrong. Also the modding community is really strong. Physics wise the bar has been set pretty high for GT7.

Sounds awesome. Gonna pick it up on a sale and hope my 7850 can handle it. Looks like I missed it for $25 in December.

With spending afternoon with my GT buddies in PCARS and trying out private lobby and unexisting options...

GT5 was a masterpiece in that area as well, while GT6 with all new Club additions is the untouchable king.

I made a time trial event for the GAF club. It's a shame that we never made good use of it.

Let me know if it works properly.

They seem to be there, but I'm not sure I understand the format, it says there's qualifying for a time trial?

Also, does the '30 min' mean we only get a set amount of time to set a time, or can we try more than once?

I loved GT5 but it was extremely unpolished. I also believe it never would've been polished because Kaz would've always found something new to fix or work on and I guess that's why it was delayed often.

All I want from GT7 is the original vision of GT5 polished but with no standard cars, better damage models and sound. Sounds like too much to ask though. Over 1000 premium cars? Sounds impossible.

Hope for the best though, especially since I skipped out on 6 because the PS4 came out.

Best wishes

Been testing that PS3 XMB video capture (uses 16MB of memory) that GT5 was supposed to use and no wonder it was cut, the performance is abysmal with more than one car on track with replay cameras. running a single car with on-board cams is just about passable.

What is this?

Any more info about it? do you have a hacked PS3 or is this a beta version of GT5 and what exactly does this do? lets you place the camera wherever you want.?

I'm putting this here just in case one of you is crazy enough. Zavvi have the GT5 Signature Edition for £59.99

Also, is Ferrari Challenge the good one, I forget? It's £6.98 anyway.

Yeah, it was one of my favorite racing games on PS3. Last I tried with my T500 it didn't work too well, but I put some hours into it before I ended up losing my save. It's got solid physics and a great track selection.

However, I think the Ferrari game you're probably thinking of (and the one amar praised) is Test Drive Ferrari Racing Legends. I haven't put much time into that one.

Well, if I had that money now, I would buy another for the collection instantly and never unbox it.

FC was great at the time, it works best with G25/27, but it takes some time to get used to. However, it is pretty great title considering it was almost an indie production.

We made that Ferrari Challenge game, I thought it was good for its time, doesn't deal with kerbs well.

Boomarking that signature edition for payday...

I got that too based on Amar's recommendation, but I couldn't really get into it... lol. Almost forgot I had that game.

Its confusing (surprise, it's PD after all). The way I tried to set up was a time trial with a 30 minute limit, unlimited laps. It does require a practice session for some reason, and to my disappointment, a room needs to be created inside the event and the results are limited to that room in particular. So asynchronous time trials aren't possible. Maybe I expected too much.

Still love the community features, it points in the right direction for GT7.

So we'd all have to be online and setting laps at the same time? Shame if so.

You can make multiple rooms, even at the same time, but the problem is: there's no general leaderboard. So you'll find several "room results" and you have to manually copy/paste and sort every lap time. Typical PD thinking.

Also, the penalties are different from seasonal/arcade's time trials. And you can't restart as easily

And if we could do that we might as well just have a race. I think we managed that once or twice but not much more!

I'd quite like to see something similar to the club and user challenges from Driveclub in future iterations, they are a good concept that would fit into GT very nicely. I'm not sure why PD has been so shy to embrace leaderboards and asynchronous stuff, rivals and autolog were great fun and I always assumed GT would do something similar given the inherently leaderboard orientated nature of academy events.

I haven't updated for ages (mostly because it's such a painful process!) so haven't seen any of the new multiplayer or community features past the quick events. Maybe I'll leave the PS3 on over night and have a crack.

Hows the online for GT6? I had it during release then sold my ps3 and the game the same year. Now I bought a ps3 and been wanting to buy GT6 again after playing pcars. Is the online still populated and did they finally add quick race like GT5 prologue?

lol, that can't be the name of the PS4 game? I remember reading somewhere that Kaz wanted to move away from the number game, but sport is ridiculous.

Must be the name of a new studio.

Well if it was a game title I'd think it would be like a cut down thing with mainly performance cars and fia licensed tracks or something.

Maybe this is the "prologue" of PS4? Not sure how Japan uses the word sport when it comes to cars so it could go either way. I see either something Forza Horizon's ish, to test out a more grand touring type mode for GT7, or this will just be something to match up against Project Cars until the full game comes out. IE, mostly licensed tracks and race cars.
