Yes, the negative mipmap bias has done wonders for the finer foliage textures over distance.

Texture rendering improved!?!?

Ah can't wait to get home and play some more, is it a noticeable difference at all?

Edit: Ah just saw the above post, HELL YES. CD Projekt Reds support for this game on PC has already been phenomenal

You realize the amount of work required to test and fit the text for all languages in a larger font?

But why do they always wait until the game is done to try and fix it...didnt they notice it was too small during the whole game development...why dont testers mention hey guys, text is too small...I am talking in general, all developpers do this and never fix it...been there since Dead Rising on the 360 and that was only 720P...must be real hard indeed.

The biggest problem with the loading is that stupid narration I have to listen to for each manual load. Still no option to turn them off?
Also, they really need to rebalance the fall damage - a 4 foot drop shouldn't take off half my health.

Aw only enLarge text for looting? Need to enlarge it for everything really? Also I hope this patch stops the game from getting black screens and forcing me to hard reset

Looks amazing, looks like by the time I get around to it, it'll be closer to what people were hoping for out of the PC version

Im super impressed that not only have CD Projekt Red been patching to improve bug fixes and such but are also making real attempts to improve the graphics

Fantastic, best developer out there imo

Can't wait to test if I can get 60 fps on high with Hairworks on a 970 after turning HW AA down/off now.

Now if they only fix the ponytail clipping through the Ursine Armor's scarf and I can die happy. It's the only downside of this set.

Also this, so much. The fall damage is ridiculous, more so if you consider that Roach is apparently immune to gravity.

Wow, the foliage does look much better with that negative mipmap bias. I guess I'm turning Hairworks on again, see what kind of performance improvements were made there.

One of the best things about this game is the loading.

The game loads up and closes faster than anything I've seen. Loading a save isn't too bad either.

Press Space while loading to skip.
Press Jump while falling to roll.

It's not that hard.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Will that texture update make it console-side?

Even with the saving roll, doesn't change the fact the damage you take when falling is ridiculous. Dying from jumping a bit higher than waist height ? C'mon son.

When you play, you just shouldn't have to worry about fall damage except in certain extreme conditions. You worry all the time, kinda breaks the whole Witcher ultimate bad ass immersion a bit. And it's just annoying.

I do agree with ypu, im constantly worried about falling when im somewhere even slightly above ground level

As expected the negative mipmap bias improves texture clarity across the board. Detail on everything can be seen clearer, further.

You know, major rant here but the thing that has been pissing me off for years is that almost all AAA devs had disabled the ENTER key from being re-binded on pc games and i need that option and of course i was severely upset that once again GOG had the ENTER key used as a game menu until today. Thank you GOG for actually caring about left handed gamers and letting pc gamers reconfig any of the keys they see fit.

What are your system specs? What resolution/frame rate are you running at?

I'm currently at max settings 1080/60, but considering halving the frames to up the visuals more.

Even if the game had bad loading times, which it doesn't, you only load every 2+ hours or when you die, which is not often. How is this possibly an issue?
Playing on Death March on PS4 means that you see long loading times often, as dying is relatively common if you get surrounded by enemies.

Yeah, I want hairworks on, but even with SLI 970's, during combat I get into the upper 40's. Its an incredibly taxing feature.

Yeah chasing that carrot.

Soon as I'm home I'll give it a shot. As of the 1.03 patch, no AA on the hair, its playable so long as the camera doesn't swing too close to Geralt's head or five wolves show up at once :p

I'm probably asking too much of the GPU

I don't think CDPR gives a sh*t about consoles now, unfortunately. They made the game for PS4/XONE, got their money, and that's it.

The game is HORRIBLE in PS4, and there is no sign of an update, we're still on 1.01.

You know you could skip that after its done loading, which takes like 3-4 seconds for me. Just mash on your controller's X button or Space I believe on the keyboard.

Looking at your pics EatChildren, the improvememts are looking really nice and visible eventhough I am just viewing them on my phone.

Yep, tried to give it a shot on PS4 and had to go back to PC. Will probably trade it in soon.

Patch 1.04 changelog:

still no AA fix, I really wish they change their awful AA solution.

Witcher sense "effect" need to go, just give us the yellow and red without the making Geralt a drunk fish.

anyway, textures seems sharper now ( but why it rest the texture quality to low after the patch? it's not a big deal, but if some people don't notice they'll most likely play with ugly textures for the rest of the game)

Now they just need to throw tessellation back into the buildings and we're set.

Agreed 100%. If there's one graphics improvement left I would love to see its the addition of high quality tessellation. If they added that it would take this already gorgeous game to the next level

Of course you are on 1.01. The game has been out less than a week. You realize consoles have certification process that PC doesn't right? It will ALWAYS take console players longer to get patches

Really?

CDPR has been nothing but good to it's customers. Why would they care what they're gaming on?

The game has been out for a week. Patches for consoles need to go through the console maker (Sony, Microsoft) first. They need to check it and push it to their networks. That stuff always takes some days. And the certification team doesn't work in the weekend probably.

Be a little reasonable with patch times man.

Console cert time is notoriously long. No need to make assumptions without knowing the whole process.

Edit: ClosingADoor gets it!

You're joking, right? I've played well over 20 hours on PS4 and the only issues I've had woth performance are in the bog and during storms. We already know there's a patch in cert, it's probably just getting held up because of the the holiday weekend in the US.
