Tab doesn't do anything for me, I guess it became unassigned at some point. Are you talking about the 'Cycle Lap Info' display? Didn't realise I had that turned off actually, so thanks for that. It's not really what I'm after though...

I'm talking about what pops up in the upper right corner when I press 'tab'. Guess that is 'Cycle Lap Info' then.

Yeah I think I'm seeing the same thing. It's kinda useful but it's not... real time enough! :) I'm talking about a delta bar, like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5urASBtQ4Zw

I can't read Japanese but it's fairly self-explanatory - he lays down a sector 1 time and then uses the bar to compare launches. You can see how the bar fades from red to green in a very dynamic way, based on the previous run. I find it to be an incredibly useful visual indicator - much more so than just numbers and a flat colour.

Ah, I see.

I'm going to have to wait until the patch hits. The steering issues with the XB1 controller are really hurting my consistency and being able to find the car's limits. Hurry up MS....

I don't have it, will download it now. Might not have time to do a run today, but I'll let you know.
Appreciated !

Got pretty close by looking at the set-up, bit more lock on diff (pre and accel, was completely open and bit less camber (felt my fronts were pushed a bit to much) and soft tires instead off automated by weather (no clue which those are in TT, meds?). So no doubt there is as much to gain for you, if you want to ;)

So my best is now: 1.31.442

changing the gear ratios will give you some harder acceleration, at the expense of top speed...or you can go the other way...

Ha ha..! Well, I guess I invited that. Yep, I know full well what changing gear ratios does, I was just curious why kie25 would shift the ratios 'up one' as it was described, ie making what was second the new third. Wish I'd kept quiet now, seems like I misinterpreted a previous comment or something.

Seriously though, the wheel thing you hold - is it for turning?

:p

:p

Kind of... rotating the "steering wheel" will translate into a proportional rotation of each of the front wheels around an own axis more or less vertical to the surface the car is located on, which - in a forward moving car only (see "throttle pedal") - will induce a circular motion of the car (ideally) with its center where the two imagined rotating axes of the front wheels intersect.

;)

looks like some of the graphical issues i've ran into are being addressed, but no sound fx fixes? hopefully soon.

by the way, don't know if this helps but whenever the sound bug pops up (rumble makes it reverberate the sound and popping) I quickly pause and view a replay and run it for a few seconds, when returning from replay mode it resets the sound usually on first attempt.

You will also never find a single dropped frame. Turn 10 do not like to compromise on performance like other devs do, which limits them in what they can do, but I applaud this 'performance first' approach.

You can if you kick up some dust off track, you can even make it tear by doing donuts. But yeah, in general gameplay it's solid, but I also expected new generation to have enough power to give us something more than Forza 4 FullHD edition. Still giving it the benefit of doubt because launch are never a good measure for system's power, but if FM6 doesn't have night/weather then it's not gonna come this gen.

FM6 won't have precipitation. It'll have atmospherics, ToD and global illumination though.

Made a quick recording of my low quality driving. This is pretty much as fast as I can go at the moment - any criticism/tips welcome.

0:07, T1 - perhaps a tad late on the brakes, causing you to miss the apex considerably.

0:18, T2 - you're in the middle of the track - this is compromising your entry speed into T3. Try to stay as right as possible over the crest of T2, but make sure you've straightened up before braking.

0:22, T3 - try to track out more to the right, all the way to the kerb - you want to carry as much speed out of here as possible - it's a critical exit due to the straight that follows.

0:30, T4 - you're in the middle of the track - to carry the most speed around T4, you've got to get as far to the right of the straight as possible before turning in. You want to be brushing that strip of gravel on the right just before you turn left.

0:35, T5 - going by the way you take three separate turns of the steering here (and your pedal inputs for that matter), I'm guessing you're using a gamepad? Try to make it one steering input, as smooth as possible.

0:49, chicane - a chunk of time to find here. You're slowing too much for the initial left - don't be afraid to attack that kerb - and the you miss the right apex that immediately follows by at least a car's width. You've got to play chicken with that little barrier, straightening the chicane as much as possible, back on the power earlier, etc.

1:03, second chicane - a good braking point and initial entry. But you need to compromise your speed through the left turn that follows - don't track out to the right there - you need to get over to the left ASAP, as the right hander (T12) is much more important (as it exits onto a straight). Use all the left exit kerbing too. You should find seconds here!

1:23, T15 - double apex.. you miss both of them ;) Try to stay tighter around there.

Final corner... arguably the hardest on the track... was probably your best!

Just played Driveclub at a friend's house on his console. Game looks great, but goddamn that 30fps. More power to people who can enjoy that shit. I couldn't do it. Just an awful feeling.

It's possible that your friend has the bug that has hit me since the last patch, the framerate and everything is stuttering, before the patch it was very smooth for a 30fps game, but for me now unplayable, evo are aware the issue and hopefully they will get it fixed.

I've been in inching up the ai difficulty on this as I learn new tracks and the new game. After getting pole by nearly a second and easily getting first two races in a row, I upped it to 100%... And proceeded to get hammered!

First race, second lap in it starts to pour and has heavy fog. Visibility was literally 30 feet or so. Can't see shit!

Second race starts out light rain, but it clears up. I pit to swap tires and my rave manager tells me, over and over, that a lug but is stuck. I sit in the pits for ages!

Finish dismally, but I'll push threw. Season ends with me in first from racking up lots of prior wins. Onto... The caterham!?

God damn, its like starting over. On glass. With tires that take 3 laps to warm. Fuck this shit, this car isn't fun. Can I pick and chose or do I have to progress, class by class, as dictated?

Oh, also, why have I raced the use 5 or so tracks (plus variations) over and over again?

I many be done with career.

Forza horizon 2 is fine with an open world, weather, and day/night cycle.

You can skip any event you want, at least the invitational side stuff. It is hard for me doing formula cars and then getting into heavier road car events so I skip a bunch.

You'll get on better tracks as you progress into higher classes.

So, I updated my controller and magically the game became playable. It still feels twitchy, but at this point I'm thinking its the car. I still need more practice as about 2/3 of my laps are not counting as I'm going off track. I've still yet to try any other car or track as I literally started playing this game yesterday.

Only played about 30 min, really fun so far.

But what's the deal with having to restart if I change the graphics settings (or at least some of them)? Really annoying.

Thanks for taking the time to post this - very useful. And yes I'm on a gamepad. Maybe if I show this to my wife and tell her how much faster I'd be with a T300RS she'd be open to me buying one!

Also, side note for PC people - what's a good free piece of software for trimming videos captured by shadowplay? Windows Movie Maker compresses the shit out of them.

you are the guy that goes OUT of the track, just to post the image where the dynamic shadows of the car misaligned on that spot with the slope to prove that forza sucks, right?

yes you are, I checked just to be sure.
hey, if you dont like forza so much, here is a tip: dont buy it. even better, do me a favor and dont talk about it.

being in this thread and talking about forza 5 having ...performance problems, thats a new kind of a joke I guess..

Question - is there significant adverse impact to a cars performance from increasing TCS on cars that have it? Played through most of Season 1 in Karts with TCS essentially off, but handling was just too "squirrely". Even worse in the Caterham (although that car has more issues I'm not going to touch here), but I've found increasing TCS just a bit makes handling much easier, and less likely to spin out.

I think TCS in PCars is much less intrusive than other sims, therefore you don't have as much an impact on times as other sims.

Cool. I have a feeling I won't need it as much with GT and open wheel cars, but trying to get any grip in Karts is painful without it. Didn't even feel I was pushing them that hard, but they were losing control even when getting up to speed.

One little thing that bugs me a lot more than it should is the low-res fuzzy thumbnails in the main car selection screen. I wonder why the IQ is so poor here?

It doesn't bug me... it pisses me off. Just makes the presentation. Look horrendous. I feel like they need more work on menus. My garage selected car always changes every time I boot the game up.

Has there been talk about the next update? Even with its minor flaws I'm ready to plop down some cash on more tracks and cars.

Really hope they flesh thing out a bit more. They need an option for people to upload liveries on the game to be given out or bought. They could really expand the life of this game if they approached this right. Especially on Steam.
