Phil Spencer comments on Silent Hills rumor: 'not true'

No shit.

Edit: It's sad that there were major publications (*cough* IGN, Shacknews *cough*) completely gullible enough to think that there was even a hint of legitimacy in the rumor, thus reporting on it.

That was a stupid ass rumor. Konami it self is worth a couple billion at best. No way the Silent Hills IP is worth a fraction of that.

I can't believe so many people fell for it honestly.

It was established beforehand that Silent Hills never made it past the prototype phase. Konami called it "embryonic." The rumor said it was 80% done. How did people believe a rumor that was factually inaccurate?

Smart of him to do this. It's dumb that he was forced to do this. iGN and other sites should be ashamed for picking up that story. It put MS in a weird spot where folks would incorrectly start expecting this to be true and let down if it wasn't shown at E3.

My jaw has hit the floor.

I passed out because of how underwhelming this information is.

Seriously, the most blatantly false rumor I've ever heard.

I'm surprised anyone even considered it to be true.

Konami is too focused on their weird campaign of trying to get back at Kojima to even consider selling any of their Ips or Games to other companies. Only way we'd get it is when it's picked from Konami's rotting corpse after their self-destruction.

You mean the completely unbelievable, absolute bullshit "rumor" that was completely made up for clicks wasn't true?

how can that be?

I could easily see Microsoft saying "Hey, if you make a Silent Hill game, we'll pay for some of it/marketing/publish it." Or have an outside studio use the name or something.

The details as reported were moronic.
