Man, GT7 on PS4 is gonna look insane, given that ps4 doesn't support 4k output PD can't go crazy again and cripple performance by running at resolution the system is not meant for. Going from GT6's 1440*1080 to FullHD will be a breeze for their engine and the remaining juice can be applied to dem graphics.

Don't worry, I'm sure Kaz will come up with some new method of crippling GT7's performance that we haven't even thought of yet.

If you're talking about the resolution, then don't blame PD for that. Yoshida even admitted that they have PD pushing tech for them. GT2000 was shown during the PS2's announcement, Vision GT was shown during the PS3's unveiling and a emo was released a month after the PS3 launched. So they've been expected to be the company that shows what PS consoles can do. One of the things Sony was pushing with the PS3 early on was 1080p. Guess who had to demonstrate that? No other internal developer has been asked to do anything like that. The good news is that it seems like Sony may have stopped pushing that pressure on them.

I wouldn't be so sure..
Sony may very well push Morpheus support on PD.

That's true, but it may be safe based on this

"We had a demo for a driving game with the tech, and that was really great when I drove slowly," Yoshida said. "I could view the scenery. It's no longer racing. It's driving, driving through scenery. But when I put on the gas and started driving [fast], it was too much." He said that "many people" who tried it felt ill.

Some Course Maker bits were added a few updates ago, the guy who made one of the GT save editors says menu graphics / logos are already present.

from the limited stuff that I can see, I spied an option to select source type and a shit load of stuff for some terrain mode/l

I'm not disagreeing but it seems like PD always has old or unused code in their games. IIRC aren't Tahiti Maze and a couple other tracks in the GT6 code? [edit, I missed the "few updates ago" part. Good news if they are recently adding things]

I hope course maker makes it, I want a course maker, I just have little faith one will actually show up.

Course Maker was added to this two or three updates ago? Just like Senna and Sierra were added to it. Anybody remember how many updates were released between the discovery and release of Sierra?

Course Maker must be a June or July release...

Have we seen these in any trailers?

I think Morpheus is something Kaz wants to do anyway in helping his vision of bridging the gap between real and virtual driving. I assume he was hinting at Morpheus in his Reddit QA.

If you could describe Gran Turismo 10, how would you imagine it?

Kaz: So regarding the next generation PS4 and beyond, there's always ongoing research going forward at Polyphony Digital and Sony. There might be some technologies that may change the world and until recently I was thinking that video games might reach a saturation point but I found out that there's much more to come and much more to look forward to in terms of technology of the future -- not that I can discuss any details right now.

I hope they'll give us proper options now. Defining the layout of the track, setting how bumpy the road is, choosing the surface type, editing the terrain and trackside, etc

After all this time I'm expecting at least 10 locations with 100x100km. Including Andalucia, Toscana and Sicily (so we can make our own Targa Florio).

Certainly they've modelled all the small cities within these areas like they did with Ronda, so we can make tracks that go through multiple cities.

Course Maker will be amazing, this time I feel that PD will deliver. It's the only thing that's missing now. Only 7 days left for the update.

I have a couple of questions. My friend just gave me his Logitech Driving Force Pro and I bought GT6 to test it out.

If you let go of the wheel while driving straight, is it supposed to shake very violently? I know the force feedback is supposed to simulate a real wheel, but real steering wheels don't shake rapidly on a flat straightaway if you let go of them. EDIT: After playing for a few hours, I've become used to it.

Also, I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but my wheel is stuck in 180 degree mode. If I do the Select+R3+Right paddle trick, it quickly jerks to the center, signaling that it should be in 900 degree mode, but it still locks at 180 degrees. Any ideas on what's wrong with it? I'm going to buy the G27 successor anyway when GT7 comes out so it's not a big deal I guess.

Thanks!

A bit OT but last night before I went to sleep I took a trip down memory lane and looked back over the Super GT League/NRL races we had back in the heyday of GT5. Seeing some of the old guard again (Dibbz, Angst, UFRA, toxa, seattle, Metalmurphy [R.I.P.], ashk, Niks etc etc) in action brought a smile to my face.

I hope one day we can get the gang back together for some fun when the next installment of GT arrives.

Looking forward to some great NRL races with GT7. Some of theme were truly epic. I'll never forget my last lap, last corner overtake after an hour of racing at Trial Mountain in the M3 race.

Yeah for sure. So many good races!
One-make races were the best. VW GTI RM, miata RM comes to mind.

Speaking of replays, I've still not got over deleting all my GT5 data in haste; completely forgetting all my hundreds of replays from online races were stored there.

Really hoping for a better save replay/export function next time...

Replay exporting is now solved with the PS4's Share functionality, although it will fall short of races longer than 15 minutes. Also, it would be wonderful if Sony would allow for uncompressed video and screenshots as an option.

It makes me wonder if PD will embrace it like Evo did with DriveClub, or if they will imement their own capture system.

I'm hoping still for GT6's Spec II or something of substance this year, as a prelude to GT7. I would be flabbergasted if 7 releases within a year.

Nope. Is the GTRender the thing used in replays/photomode? Can you turn those effects on?
without the GPU failing
Interesting stuff anyway

Replay.

I've read you can play about with all the visual / time effects, but you have to convert the PS3 to a debug machine as it's supposed to be much easier.

I can't remember seeing these released by Polyphony or if I've posted them before, but a bunch of aerial shots from the GT5.vol

GT3 was at E3 2001, I was there personally, it was amazing.

GT4: Prologue was announced and played at PS Experience London in 2004 IIRC

GT4 was announced at E3 as well IIRC

GT Vision was premiered at E3 (or was it TGS??)

GT:HD (2006 micro transaction version that included bikes, scrapped later in 2006) was mentioned and made playable on E3 2006 IIRC

GT5 was officially announced on E3 2010 for November release by SCEA, to be pushed for December, in one of the greatest IP meltdowns considering delay IIRC

Some dreams will become reality though.

This thread will continue to live.

[

I was at E3 for both GT3 and GT4-- both really strong presences at the show. I think it was GT3 in 2001 that had a row of 4-5 sit down sim cabinets with wheels that were system linked for one race competitions.

I was also at E3 in 1999 when Sony premiered the PS2--- technically at least. They did not reveal the full hardware but showed a playable demo on the show floor to put a knife in the Dreamcast (which had an amazing first show that year, btw). The playable demo? A one car/ one track demo for what would eventually become GT3. If memory serves me, I think it was perhaps the NSX that they demo'd?

here is a link to a video from 1999. I think the NSX in the video was the one car playable demo on the show floor that year--- on just one special stand, btw.

Any screenshot available? Where do you find this stuff? It's super interesting lol

The heat effect was in 5 Prologue, it would be cool if they found a way to bring it back.

Wax? Hang in there buddy.

One more June update to go, I've seen the future...

The LM Nismo is the best sounding car in the game.

gtr_lm_nismo_15.In the spring of 2014, The Nissan Motor Company announced that they would be participating in the LPM1 Hybrid class of the Le Mans 24 hour race in the following year, with a car carrying the GT-R badge. They revealed their car in February of 2015 and it had a revolutionary structure that no one had imagined! The car named the GT-R LM NISMO, a prototype racer that came after a 16 year hiatus from prototypes since the R391 in 1999, went against the norm by mounting its engine in the front; not only that, it was front-wheel drive. By mounting the engine in the front they had more freedom with the design of the car as a whole, enabling them to achieve an aerodynamic advantage. And it's no surprise that the unique ideas came from Ben Bowlby, who designed the chassis and body. This is the same man responsible for cars like the DeltaWing and the ZEOD RC. The body consists of a monocoque chassis and outer panels made of carbon, with a minimal weight of <880kg>. Under the long front nose is a 3 litre direct injection V6 with twin turbos, combined with an energy regeneration system. The drivers of the car are Nissan's home-grown Michael Krumm and Tsugio Matsuda, GT Academy graduates Lucas Ordóñez and Jann Mardenborough with their mentor Alex Buncombe, former F1 drivers Marc Gené and Max Chilton, along with Harry Tincknell and Olivier Pla who have a great history in sports car racing.....Nissan will be running two cars starting from the first round of the FIA World Endurance Championships and will be entering three cars in Le Mans 24 Hours, aiming for an overall victory.

Didn't release that they've still got 14 VGT's left to release. Anyone else remember when they said they'd all be released by the end of 2014?

Last round of GT Academy is ridiculous. This car rattles my T500 to death on the straights.

edit: Tomahawk is already gonna be my favorite VGT car. Can't wait to drive it. Hope they add that racing suit into the game.
