Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

I know this game is buggy as shit but for someone looking to pick up the street fighter series for the first time is the game worth it

Honestly, if you're looking to get into something for the first time, then why would you pick the worst way to do it?

I play MKX competitively really good and high level game but I like playing footsies winning by outsmarting my opponent not by out guessing .MKX does have a neutral game but it feels that 50/50 has too much emphasis at this stage of the game OS"s and shit

so is this port good enough to pick up I'm not planning on winning Evo with this game or anything just want to fix that urge of out spacing my opponent and getting ready for SFV?

If you don't have a PC or 360, wait until feedback from the patch starts hitting forums. The patch should be coming this week but who knows, it could be pure ass.

I'd want better filtering applied, no lag and no random character behaviour before I jump in...

I don't think I'm going to get it.

Waiting for the first company to put the "Images indicate work in progress" logo on a final release. Perhaps for the NeoGaf awards.

Also, was the PS4 version used in the gameplay trailers? Would the shadowing issues not have been evident?

Hey, remember how owners of vanilla got the ink and crosshatch colors when they bought Super? I know how Sony can atone for this.

If you bought USFIV PS4, all (inevitable) costume DLC for SFV free, forever.

I feel like people have been really exaggerating the issues with this game. I've been playing it since day one, ranked and with friends and almost always have good smooth matches and landing 1 frame links on yellow bar. There are some obvious issues like the menu taking a extra second and the names not showing up online but that is the only issue.

Even if you can salvage fun out of it, it's a terrible port, and blatantly misadvertised. There should be no excuses for the sloppy state in which it was released. It deserves all the criticism it gets.

I've only seen something like that ever happen once- and that was when Stardock gave out free sequels as a makeup for Elemental War of Magic being terrible. It cost them several millions, Capcom doesn't have that kind of money to throw away.

There definitely are some glitches (name wise and stuff)but the game has been solid for me.

This is based on past time on original ps4 with stock hdd and glacier ps4 with stock hdd.

I've tried all the modes and all are playable.

But meh, to each their own.

If your standard for what's considered solid is just that it be "playable", then sure, I guess it's not that bad. Most garbage games would be considered solid in this case, because hey, they're technically playable. I haven't played PS4 USF4 myself (almost bought it day one though...) but everything that we know about the game and its release makes it pretty obvious that there's a lot wrong here, and we probably shouldn't be supporting it.

EDIT:

Basically, what 2n2 said:

But maybe Sony does.

I know broken and many are portraying it as broken.

Bad port... sure. I'll concede.

But broken, nah.

Still, with all that said I'm not trying to impose my viewpoint on others.

After all. It IS a bad port.

For your purpose it's totally fine. I've have encountered zero bugs. For $25 pick it up. A lot of hyperbole in this thread in regards to the casual fighter fan.

If a product is said to do something and then it fails to actually do that thing, then I think there's a good argument to be made that it's kinda broken.

Honestly, it's more than just the game itself that's getting people worked up, but everything surrounding it. It's enough to get someone like me, who is a complete beginner when it comes to fighting games, to be genuinely upset.

For competitive purposes it is broken. There is a reason why tournaments are not touching this port with a 10 foot pole.

I haven't noticed a terrible amount of problems. In fact it's been quite fun. I've played this since 2008 and ever so often I have large breaks. I was thinking I was going to have to wait till SFV because I rarely play my copy of USFIV on ps3, but I'm actually learning new characters thanks to this version.

It's a solid game even with the current unpatched shortcomings. You know what, USFIV PS4 > MKX PS4. The current bugs just can't erase how good SFIV is.

People who arent competitive or barely play say it's fine and cant tell whats wrong.

I guess people who play characters with ps4 specific glitches are just big babies.

"Ken and Ryu are fine, this is playable"

I know it probably sounds like I'm on a crusade to bad-mouth this game, but I bought it and hope it's fixed and people play it once it is. However, it sounds like you know enough about fighters that you would be in the target audience for it, so I would not recommend buying this until it's fixed.

Again, fun, and competitive are two different things.

As it stands, you're not playing SFIV with the PS4 port, you're playing a pale imitation.

Guys, I think this was Sony's plan all along. Release a busted version so that it would be pulled from Evo and then from the Capcom Pro Tour. That way, they won't have to pony up that $500k because the game won't be played on PS4.
