Can anyone read the ui text in The Witcher 3?

This has been the only issue for me with this game. The last half of my day playing I just skipped reading item descriptions all together. It's worse than Dead Rising.

Yeah, even sitting closer to my TV, I still have trouble reading the glossary, loot items, stats etc. (PC version here).

It's perfect on my PC Monitor. No ugly ass size 28 fonts with hours of scrolling.
It sucks on my TV^^ Have to really concentrate to read long text. Switched to PC Monitor and KB+M. Best option here. But I do hope they add different font sizes.

The store UI is the biggest offender since they use tiny text in the bottom left while there's a huge gaping area available on the right side doing absolutely nothing.

Great screenshots everyone. Here's another that shows how impossible it is to read the UI.

Playing the PS4 version on a 60 inch TV in my living room sitting about 8 feet away and it's annoying as hell. Readable but just barely...

Man you have to love devs like this.

Yet if it was a Ubi game these boards would be asking why a game shipped without the testers noticing all these 600 things and more.

These devs are pretty good but their past deeds get them such a free pass with this game.

nope, the last patch, with supposed increased perfomance (i don't get them)
That "we're looking into it" tweet was a few hours before 1.03 released so it wasn't very likely for 1.03 to include this. Considering 1.03 on consoles was sent to cert on Wednesday, I wouldn't hold my breath for console 1.03 to integrate this either.

Wait, is there a patch 1.03 out??
Yeah, it's out on PC and sometime later on consoles, once it goes through cert.

On PC.

Its in cert. for consoles, it'll be up sometime next week.

Both, witcher 1 and 2 needed a ton of patches. People just know that CDPR is good about patching.

I'm playing on PS4 on my couch and it's totally fine. I like how small it is. Maybe you need glasses?

Yep. Big games tend to require tons of fixes, since it's impossible to make sure everything works correctly. CDPR is reactive and listens to user feedback which is great.

It's small all around, way too small in some parts and above all hard to read. I am at exactly 2 meters from my 42" plasma tv, playing the pc version at 1080p, and I really have a hard time playing this game for more than 1 hour straight (especially parts with many cutscenes, I have subs on since english is not my native language) because squinting all the time gives me a headache.

Glad they're working on it, just put a slider in the hud options and let me gradually increase its size until I don't have to squint please <3

The UI text is plenty big for me.

I must've gotten a different version of the game.. I don't see what everyone is complaining about. The font size is fine.

I sit 10 feet away from my 50"

The text size is quite small to me, even with a 27" monitor about 18-20 inches from my face. I'm fine with it, but for people playing in a living room, I have no idea how some people can read it on anything but the largest TV's or from very close distances. I totally get the complaints.

I just decided against buying Witcher 3 because of the font size on consoles.

I'll have to reconsider if they fix it, but something tells me that it won't be much better.

Lol, and what is it that tells you they won't? They've confirmed that it's being fixed in the next patch, which should be out in one or two days.

I'm playing the PC version on my 50" plasma and I haven't had any problems reading the text. I sit about 2,5 m from the TV and play at 1080p.

Had the same problem with GTA V. My room is tiny with a double bed and desk at the end with a 40inch TV.

Never needed glasses, but went for an eye test (as work was paying for it) and it turns out that I do. May sound dumb, but maybe go and get ya eyes checked. Only need it for driving/mid-distance stuff (rather than sitting at a desk) but it's a mile better with them sexy nerd glasses on.

Witcher 3 on PS4 is the only game that I've had this problem with in recent memory. I am 8 ft away from my 42" Bravia, and I know that's not recommended, but I play all my other games the same way and they manage it just fine.

The fact that they thought the original version was acceptable suggests that the devs had little regard for anyone that wasn't playing with a monitor on a desk, or a large TV in a dorm room.

Similar experience.

The text size is fine for me with my set up, but I think it's clear that it would be a valid problem for others. Not sure why anyone would dismiss that.

Or it could just be an oversight. Game developers have to juggle a lot, it's not unrealistic to think this was just lost in the shuffle.

To the people saying it's fine, I have 20/10 vision and I have to squint.

Why? Because some people have their TVs further from their couches, it's not an issue of blind people, and it's a pain to have to sit on the floor/move up your couch just to read it.

When I play in my living room I have problems reading because the TV is a bit far, whereas in my bedroom I have no such issue as the TV in there is closer.

So the issue isn't "the text is too small for almost-blind people to read", it's "the text is too small for people with distant TVs to read"

I actually had to bring in a chair and sit in front of my coffee table to be able to easily read/see/play this game. I game on a 40" Bravia from about 8-10 feet away. Now I'm 3 feet away (I think I like this better anyhow).

No, the issue is that the text is too small to read for people who sit too far from their TV. The solution is to either sit closer to the TV or get a TV that is appropriate for the viewing distance.
