I love how the world looks a little more colourful than the previous instalment. It looked very dull before, with all the browns and greys.

Looking good. Just need to see some gameplay.

Late to the party. But, I honestly don't have high expectations for Bethesda when it comes to their engine and graphics For me, what makes Bethesda games amazing is story and world/atmosphere. This is why I didn't love Skyrim as I felt the story and writing (the side quests), weren't as good as Morrowind, Oblivion or the Fallout series. This doesn't mean that people can't have expectations and want better improvement in graphics. I think those are valid things to discuss. Just on a personal level, I've come to have low expectations. I'll probably wait and get this on PC once all the mods roll out. The game will look incredible once fans crank out texture mods.

But I can understand people's disappointment. I'm excited as hell regardless.

I do agree with the concerns people have with voice acting cutting down on dialogue choices. That was one of the best aspects of Fallout. It made side quest amazing.

But a mutant house cat probably tops the list.

Again, what's with the posts saying "good gameplay"? This is a Bethesda game.

So according to this thread the graphics, story and gameplay are shit in these games. What exactly is drawing people to be outraged about games they seemingly don't like any part of other than maybe the setting.

because it's fun? iunno, if it isn't the gameplay or graphics, then why do people enjoy Bethesda games so much?
Bethesda games are horrid gameplay wise, they never feel right tbh

I played Skyrim and Fallout 3 for more than 50 hours both (100 in Skyrim) for the atmosphere, lore and the world building in general and the gameplay was a chore that I endured to experience the world that they presented.

I hope they do better this time tho but they have proved me wrong time after time since I started playing their games. I'm not going to ask things like Souls-series combat or Destiny level gunplay but something a little more serviceable could be nice.

Different people have different opinions and different priorities. I can endure horrid gameplay if I find the story or setting good but I'm sure that there are people who enjoy the combat on this games.

Bethesda games generally have a one of a kind feel in terms of their open world variety. No other games let you do so much in the world. The gameplay and graphics are usually something you gotta put up with.

Who knows they may have brought some of the people from Wolfenstein to spice up the gameplay.
Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Totally possible, but... Yeah.

Definitely several tiers up in terms of side quests from ubisoft games.

Beats me. It seems odd to me since this pretty much seems like a Fallout 3 sequel.
I mostly have fun with the gameplay of Bethesda games.

Do you even know what gameplay is ?, are you actually talking about real time combat ?. These games are fun to play, So its got Fun gameplay. And if fun is good (which it is), than its got good gameplay too!
I guess combat only = gameplay for some people. I am hit and miss with their game's combat. Mostly the world exploration is the best to me.

Getting a big itch to play FO3, honestly the biggest thing I wish FO3 had that New Vegas had was the jurry rigger perk. Come on Bethesda that perk or something similar better be in the game.

Edit- Bring back bobble heads too

I had an incredible amount of fun playing Skyrim, for example, but I hated the horse controls, the combat in general, the inventory system and I still don't like how you leveled up in it.

I also had an incredible amount of fun playing it and fighting dragons at the top of a mountain that had this massive statue of an ancient goddess =P

I was under the impression that "gameplay" was more than simply mechanics or combat (which at least to my eyes, very serviceable). I think people are more concerned over the systems surrounding it (dialogue/character interaction, exploration, perks, flexibility in terms of play-style...). I think that's what people are referring to as gameplay, as opposed to gameplay = combat/mechanics.

Also, VATS is awesome man.

I used to buy Amazon exclusively, but then Best Buy's gamer club unlocked became $30. Now it is the best place to buy new games and limited or collector editions at the cheapest price.

Putting graphics and gameplay aside, can I look forward to half of my carefully placed decorations not flying across the room whenever I enter my home?

I traveled back to my 'room' in NV just yesterday to find my garden gnome was upside down, shit was all over the place. Looked like a tornado struck.

Who says it flew at all though?

And I don't agree with colours ruining the identity of the franchise, it's ridiculous to think humanity wouldn't crawl out and reclaim the world hundreds of years after the apocalypse.
It's a wooden 18th century mast with rockets sitting on some rocks. It probably flew ... Maybe Bethesda wanted to make a JRPG joke?

It's not ridiculous to think humanity wouldn't crawl out and restart civilisation, but this is in contrast with the established fallout univers where humankind only went downhill, reintroduced slavery and still uses 200 year old bottlecaps as money.

Regarding the DLC:

Operation Anchorage: Kinda lame, but very good loot
The Pitt: Ok
Broken Steel: Necessary for raising the level limit and being able to play after the end of the game
Point Lookout: excellent
Mothership Zeta: Bad

They better not do that broken steel shit again

Hmm, I agree with most of your points, except I though Mothership Zeta was ok and never played Point Lookout (though I intend to remedy that the next time I play Fallout 3).

What's the best way to play the first and second one? Is it already ported to Android these days? Dosbox?

Are you talking about Fallout 1 + 2? If so, I think you can only get them on Steam (currently 50% off). At least, I'm not familiar enough to know if they are on mobile...

Grab Fallout FIXT for Fallout 1. It's in Alpha, but it's pretty stable (I've used it several times. It's still being updated and I believe the next update is going to port Fallout 1 into the Fallout 2 engine which imo is really necessary.

Grab either the Unofficial Patch (recommended for the first time) or the Restoration Project from the bottom of the first post here.

They need to die and stay dead. We killed em good in FO2, killed an offshoot East Coast branch in FO3, it would be very unfortunate and stupid if they try and utilize them again in FO4. The FO world is ripe for creating interesting and weird factions. No need to recycle the same shit over and over again. NV showed this with Caesar's Legion and House. Create something new, wild and inventive. The world was about as literally wiped clean as you can get. Do something with it.

It was pretty clear in Fallout 3 that Bethesda felt it was more important to pluck elements from Fallout to give it superficial IP recognition than respect the original games. Enclave and Super Mutants on the east coast, Pre-war and east coast Jet, and a very different Brotherhood of Steel are some of the examples that are brought up often. I hope now that they've gotten Fallout 3 out out of the way they can try to be inventive instead of sticking to a Fallout checklist of what they believe should be there.

I have to agree with these posts. I think I would have enjoyed Fallout 3 more if I wasn't such a fan of the first two games. The BOS, Enclave and Super Mutants felt so odd to me. The Super Mutants in FO3 felt nothing like the end game foes they were in Fallout 1.

because it's fun? iunno, if it isn't the gameplay or graphics, then why do people enjoy Bethesda games so much?

Atmosphere, customization, world building and exploring? I have a coworker who loves Skyrim, but he's never come close to beating the game despite owning it since launch because he loves to constantly create new characters and go off into the world.

It's probably why I don't care for the games made by Bethesda Games Studios. I'm more interested in a good story, writing, quests, and dialogue than exploring a world. I just don't care about exploring unless I have a reason to (quests) and even then I only do enough to complete the quest.

Despite doing every quest in Fallout 3 + NV, I wouldn't be surprised if I've explored half the terrain in each game.

I assume you've only played Fallout 3.

Fallout isn't about life in the post-apocalypse. It's about how humanity has risen again in the post-post-apocalypse. It isn't Metro.

That is what Bethesda failed to realize in Fallout 3. The franchise is supposed to be lively, zany, full of life.

Humanity hasn't only gone downhill. The NCR has pretty great standards of living with no slavery and real printed money. I imagine the Commonwealth with the Institute's technology is similarly well off.

Come on Bethesda I want an official energy weapons T-Shirt for my birthday in August, make it happen!

It's too good :)
*wink wink* *nudge nudge* I think I speak for everyone in this thread when I say we are all incredibly excited to see what's in store at E3 best of luck to everyone ;)!

No bald cap? Lies!
I hope we get to pet the dog. >_>

I hope the dog is really robust. Like a next-gen evolution of the Fable dog. Dogmeat was cool, Rex was OK, but both were pretty meh in terms of feeling like your dog. They were just companions that were animals for the most part. It would be really nice to see some sophisticated AI for it and expanded utility for them as well. Probably won't be the case, especially with a lot of horrible human beings not wanting a dog, but I hope they come up with some interesting stuff.

Just making it be more reactive and expressive would be a huge improvement. And what there is of it in the trailer seems pretty good, nice animations and expressiveness with it's ears and posture at times.

itd have been better if they tweeted a statement about the cross gen confusion

Oh, goddamn it man. Let it rest for like, 2 seconds. Can you give them 2 seconds to be happy that some fans are excited for the goddamn game they've spent 4 years making? Can you just do that, please?

No, of course not.

Seriously, this has been one of the most miserable reveals ever. We've been waiting for this for 4 years, and then when it finally gets revealed it takes 100+ pages to start getting some good discussion beyond bitching and moaning and pessemistic speculation. I thought this was going to be a super exciting time, but it's actually just been a complete buzz kill.

this is still up in the air

i dont see what the trouble would be to clear this issue up with one statement, once and for all

itd be a big relief for a lot of us

Up in the air? Pete Hines was pretty specific when he said it's coming out for the platforms they announced. PC, PS4 and Xbone.

You can spin it and say it's marketing talk, but honestly, if it was coming, they'd have said so when they announced the current-gen versions.

No, of course not.

It's simple, man, don't come into this thread anymore. The vibe in the speculation thread is a lot more positive. I only stop by here occasionally.
