There's Now an E3 Press Conference For The PC, Hosted By Day9 [Up: More Devs]

Well, now that I don't have a PS4 and I'm getting a GTX 970 for my birthday...

Star Citizen
The Division
Total War Warhammer
XCom 2
Project Cars
NBA 2k16 (yeah, I know they won't talk about this at a PC show...it's still a PC title)

Super excited for this first time show.

While you're here, let me share a two new details about the event: Blizzard will be revealing new stuff from Heroes of the Storm and StarCraft II during their time on stage, and Square Enix will be bringing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to talk about.

The venue doors open to press and attendees at 5 PM PDT next Tuesday, June 16. At that point we'll be switching on the PC Gamer livestream and launching a 1-hour countdown clock paired with music from Disasterpeace and some fun PC gaming trivia. The stage show itself is scheduled to start at exactly 6 PM PDT.

Imagine a Conan O'Brien-style late-nite talk show all about PC gaming hosted by the ever-amiable Sean 'Day9' Plott, with a sprinkling of new game reveals, trailers, and unscripted conversations.

What are the top five trends you’re most excited about in the gaming industry?

Richard Huddy (AMD): Microsoft DirectX 12. For PC gaming, DirectX 12 marks the next generation of great games. This next iteration of Microsoft’s gaming API will finally unleash capabilities and performance that gamers deserve. There’s a wide range of hardware that will support DirectX 12 games at launch.

We’ll see a lot of those next-generation PC games announced at E3, and I can't wait.

Have to admit I'm not super thrilled by this idea:

I'd be happier with a shorter, more focused event than something potentially ponderous and mostly uninteresting.

We need less of them, not more

Maybe you explain this later, but as someone that has been hyped for almost 20 of these (E3) I disagree completely.

Star Citizen incoming.

AMD is sponsoring it. We (PC Gamer) are organizing it. We talked for years about how E3 should have a PC-focused event, and it never happened. So we decided to do it ourselves!

I just hope you guys do a good job making the event feel like a unified production instead of a disjointed affair. I know that will be hard with so many independents involved. Fingers crossed that that the PC presentation will feel just as professionally made as the Sony, Nintento and Microsoft presentations.

The problem isn't that there are too many conferences, it's that the existing conferences are too long and filled with too much unnecessary BS. Conferences should be 60 minutes long max, with content delivered in a hard-hitting "straight to the point" fashion to minimize the risk of boredom, and a little non-cringe-worthy natural humor sprinkled in to keep the mood light. It's not that hard.

Isn't the PC conference the absolute least likely to be that?
