Halo 5 - Game Informer details

So... what happens when one of your squad members dies? Or are they invincible a la Arbiter? I always hated that.

My guess is that they will need to be revived and if you don't get to them in time, they will die and then spawn at the next checkpoint or when the area is safe.

Holy fucking shit
Nathan fillion?

Eeeeyup.

Spartan 4 suits look like they were made by fucking Tony Stark.

You say that like it's a bad thing, lol.

Real talk: the new designs make a lot more sense than the old ones. The "undersuit" is pretty armored in and of itself, and since the plating only really exists at this point to back up the shields, emphasizing flexibility makes good design sense.

I want to know why 343i and Halo still stick with the method of giving full reveals to magazines, instead of releasing it on their own website for everyone.

Aura of exclusivity?

I dunno.

It's terrible for me. I played all of the campaigns on co-op with my girlfriend. This may be a deal-breaker.
Get her a second console.

You won't need Live for coop, and split-screen sucks anyway. xD

He's not married so it might be more preferable to just get rid of the girlfriend?

I joke, but you know something to think about... :p

I have this disconnect with the premise of Master Chief being hunted by Locke and his group of Spartan IV, where I see them having a lot of trouble just to kill him.
And then it's just not Master Chief, but Blue team too.

They're gonna have to set up Locke's team really good (besides Buck) because right now it's not believable for me that they can be a threat.

The beta was amazing, they have already confirmed a titanfall like on line set up, free map packs, blue team finally plus everything they have announced..... Fucking money shot this game all over my face!

October is so so far away!

1. The Spartan IV's have augmentations. They're detailed in Initiation and in New Blood.
2. It was never said it would take 10 Spartan IV's to beat one Spartan II

That's about it.

1. Already clarified my point twice, but you still quoted the poorly worded one.
2. I'm 100% sure it was. It was in the same context, when they said how cheecky Spartan 4's are. Wether it was in a ViDoc, in a Spartan 4 description text or somewhere else I can't remember. Not sure what the exact wording was, but there was definitely a comparison and I'm still searching for the exact source.

The display Locke put on in that trailer already did that for me. The skill he displayed there was pretty damn ridiculous. At first I was kind of iffy with this as well, but after seeing that trailer I was pretty sold on them being a legit threat. Not that it even matters I suppose considering they're going to be a legit threat regardless due to the mere fact that they're playable characters.

There may have been a comparison, but I'm damn sure it was never said it would take 10 Spartan IV's to take down one Spartan II. The only comparison made between the two thus far is that a IV in GEN 2 is equal to a II in GEN 1. If both are out of armor and fight then the II wins. That's the only comparison that's been made.

Where did they say that?

Sorry, fleshed out my thoughts on this more thoroughly with an edit above.

In co-op it's fine. In single-player I'd rather when you die, you die, and go back to a checkpoint. It forces you to approach the sandbox encounters more tactfully on higher difficulties. AI shouldn't be able to revive you in single player. It cheapens the experience IMO.
I think they can solve this by turning revive off on legendary

Why does it seem like I'm the only that cares about returning to a Halo? Nothing screams Halo to more than fighting through a snowy battlefield.

I'm pretty sure we're going to be seeing some cool places.

There's that piece of concept art showing a massive war in what looks like a Forerunner planet. In the GI video they also talk about a "galactic scale story" where you can "go to different locations around the galaxy" and see locations that have never been seen before.

And I'm damn sure that I read those words.

Then provide a source. Until you do that I'm not in anyway taking those words at face value because I've been keeping up with Halo for years and not once have I seen that said nor would it in anyway make sense. 10 Spartan IV's would utterly annihilate any lone Spartan II. A single Spartan II may be better than a single Spartan IV, but they're certainly not so much better where they can take on 10 IV's at once and win.

Yea, not in anyway buying that claim as legit.

I do love a snowy level, turn the wind and enviromental sounds up 343. Adds a lot.

Don't care about Forerunner planets - I want to return a Halo! :D

Snowy levels are the best, in my opinion.

Here's some tidbits from this month's GI issue. A lot more in the magazine: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...y-cover-revealed-halo-5-guardians-923520.aspx

  • Whether playing as Chief or Locke, you're accompanied by a fireteam of 3 A.I. which you can command/issue orders to in the campaign
  • Confirmed: Linda, Kelly, and Fred join the Chief
  • Game Informer played the second mission, taking command of Chief and Blue Team to take back an ONI research vessel abandoned for 2 years

lol, my post from 2013:

i think Reach has the best campaign in the series...

since this seems like a good place like another, you know what i'd like for Halo 5? a 4 players coop campaign with a story truly built around blue team (John, Kelly, Linda and Fred).

make it happen 343i!

Odds are pretty good, if we visit a glassed planet for example. Hope we do, because snow levels are indeed pretty good.

Then provide a source.

Yea, not in anyway buying that claim as legit.

Really don't care if you buy it, because I know that I read it somewhere. I'll try to find it, but I'm not wasting hours for it.

Also, you keep going on about them fighting in suits. Who even mentioned that 10 vs 1 thing being in suits? I certainly didn't, because I was (and still am) unsure about the exact wording.

Damn, you were spot on lol. How did you even remember about your post.

Speaking of which, it would be great for Halo 5 to be an intergalactic journey where we visit a bunch of unique locations and planets.

If you don't provide a source for a claim then it's not valid. Could care less if you know you read it somewhere. I can say I know I saw an alien last night. Doesn't mean a thing without proof. Don't make the claim if you can't back it up.

10 vs 1 is lopsided regardless of whether they're in or out of armor. This isn't a Spartan vs 10 normal unaugmented Humans. It's 10 augmented Spartans vs 1 augmented Spartan.

You and me both. The look of Halo 3 levels were perfect. Valhalla, Snowbound, Sandtrap, Guardian, Heretic, Standoff, Avalanche, and on and on.

But as we've seem with Halo 4, H2A and now Halo 5, 343 prefers a grittier look with more tint and lighting filters. You'll rarely see rainbows of color and bright open levels. Even their Regret remix was far too yellow and washed out for my taste.

It seems like 343 can't decide whether Fred and Locke should have a scope on their DMR/BR or not lol. They've appeared with a scope and without one.

I though that was already confirmed in the Game Informer thing?

I didn't see it listed in the OP and haven't read the magazine yet.

because i really wanted (and still want) that to happen after reading the books :D

Me too! It made me really excited for the game.

Yes, give me colors and bright open levels! Halo 4 was a bit too dreary for me.

Some good news here. It is about time the maps were all free. The 20+ maps though, that is alright if it isn't a ton of forge maps. But I'm afraid it will be a lot of forge maps, unfortunately.

Oh, and I hope one of those 20+ maps is a new Containment or Waterworks!

Fred helmet looks like garbage. I wish Blue Team was a mix of original Mark V/Mark VI designs. The classic Halo look as opposed to what they've become. I don't get 343 though. In Hunt the Truth, they show the original Mark VI look of Chief, do the same for H2A, but then no one else wears it, and they don't explain why Chief has his armor changed etc. And half the time they show Chief as always having had this Mark VI gen2 design etc.

Why is master chief the only army green spartan in the world of halo? why does everyone else have fruity bright colours?

Why does everyone apart from chief and buck have shitty helmet designs?

I also dislike the bare exposed waist design of the suit, all that tank armor yet their organs are exposed.

I dunno...locke's helmet looks awesome

Chief looks that way for the single reason that he always looked that way...since we never see the man that is his appearance and they can't change it too much. Same reason that buck is getting the recon helmet...callback to him as an odst

I have been looking for this answer as well. Outside the games i know little of the cannon, but seeing the excitement here it has me wanting to catch up. The blue team leader thing is what has me confused with his green color. Was he always green?

Edit: Well i guess my ignorance of thinking red team is all red and blue team is all blue is wrong as i just realized from the pics above lol

Not a fan of the color they gave Fred's armor. In the GI digital issue it looked almost baby blue in a few of the pics. The color was far better in Escalation, H2A terminals, and the Halo 5 cover art.

Love the sleek designs of the armor for Fireteam Osiris, especially Locke, Tanaka, and Buck.

So I wasn't going crazy. Thanks Stinkles.

Do you know where this was described? Had to do something with Spartan 4's attitude/behaviour, iirc.

Because we can explain complex nuanced things in print that would be lost, distorted or deliberately misrepresented from e3 chaos. And GI doesn't have any of the E3 materials so you will get to double dip on fresh info.
