Ratchet and Clank (PS4) - First Trailer [Up: 8 minutes of gameplay, $40]

Is the enemy dancing weapon new? Ive only played 2 R&C games and i dont remember it in them.

Yep

-reimagining of an older game, releasing in tandem with a film
-meaty SP campaign but lacking the MP component from other games in the series/many modern games
-more of a family friendly IP

None of the above are bad things - just good reasons for SCEA to want to release it at a lower price. I think releasing Tools of Destruction at $60 was a big mistake and they seem to have agreed.

wait, did Tools of Destruction sold bad or something? I thought the sales for that is good. there's nothing wrong with the $60 price tag for Tools of Destruction, action platformer on PS2 days cost the same as any other game.

I really don't understand the complaints about the price. I though Into The Nexus was a good value. Ratchet and Clank is one of my favorite series and I think this looks amazing. I'm in.

Mr. Stevenson, please give us a dynamic PS4 theme as a digital pre-order bonus. The Drake Collection one looks sick, and I love me some themes.

Thanks.

What excuse. I bought TLOU twice (PS3 ver, vs. Remastered) and have played plenty of games at 60 fps vs. 30 fps. I am not foreign to PC gaming either. When we say smooth we refer to jankiness perceived by our eyes.

That argument was made by a previous poster, much slimmer and to the point.

As it pertains to this game, it's a hypothetical improvement that more than likely no one here will ever see. And chances of this game getting a remastered treatment are slim to none. That's the bottomline, and people are wasting their time foaming at 60 fps instead of looking at the game for what it's, 30 fps. It's just that simple.

The more is better argument is almost never wrong (except in the case of less is more). It's also a hypothetical.

And a I showed you a "hypothetical" trailer that shouldn't exist in it's current form. And yet, the difference is still proven substantial. I've never seen a human run 100mph but I can guarantee running at 100mph is a lot faster than any human seen I've seen despite the "hypothetical" has yet to be proven in real life.

The game looks pretty close to a Pixar movie. Fantastic, and I'm buying this day 1. I took a break from R&C for the last few games, but this is day one. It's time to get back into it.

No mp- collect-a-thon gameplay usually means one playtrough- maybe?

collect a thon usually mean that you'll go back to previous stage/planet to find those collectables after you beat it once because I doubt most people find all the hidden items at first play through the levels. those items are hidden for a reason, and sometimes, you'll need tool or gadget acquired from later planet too.

Damn, this looks amazing! I never played the original, only the two PSP games, so this will be definite day 1 for me :)

this legit seems like the best looking next(current) gen game. fuck the framerate haters. Surprising about that $40 price point, considering how this is basically a new game.

The sales were as good as any PS3 exclusive at the time, just felt it was the perfect game that PS3 needed to get more families and kids into it and a lower price tag could have helped.

I'm no sales expert and I'm not insomniac so as far as I'm aware they and Sony were perfectly satisfied with it. $40 is the right move for this game for sure though.

Jesus Christ this looks stunning. Fkk so hyped. Why Insomniac did you leave this franchise? Please make a new 60$ game and I will buy it. This is a day 1 buy!

I do hope the Morph-O-Ray (AKA, the "Cluck-Cluck Gun") will be in this game, as that was my favourite weapon in the original Ratchet and Clank.

Yep, gotta get a PS4 before this drops. The Pixelizer shotgun looks even better than the Temporal Repulsor, and I loved the Temporal Repulsor!

stable 30fps is good enough

Hope this means it only costs $50 Canadian. Sony, at least hasn't risen their prices to 79.99 like EA and UniSoft have and kept to the more accurate $74.99.

It's pretty rare for a game to not launch at the suggest retail price, so when people see the trailer and looks amazing the natural assumption is that the game must be lacking content or is a shorter experience to warrant the lower price. Glad that's not the case and will buy this for sure due to it being that low.

Bottomline, as it pertains to Ratchet and Clank, it's a more is better argument and it's a hypothetical. There are plenty of examples of improvement - A LOT of games - in the grand scheme of things is called tech advancement, progress etc. Point is, from where you're all sitting, it's a hypothetical and no one here can measure it, nor give an objective measurement of improvement. Whereas in the case of TLOU for example, you could (obviously taking into account better hardware too). Is it a hypothetical or not as it pertains to this case? The answer is yes. You'll can battle the semantics of it. It's of no consequence. The game is 30 fps, looks great and is not janky.

$40?

On one hand, nice price. But on the other hand, I hope this doesn't mean it'll be another short R&C game like Into the Nexus was. Itching for a game that's at least as long as A Crack in Time.

Another 30 fps Ratchet game? Guess I'll just stick with the original PS2 trilogy. Meeting the same standards that the series set 13 years ago really shouldn't be too much to ask.
