Game must be very far from done. I do hope fans keep their expectations in check. I worry that regardless of how good this remake is, expectations have been building for so long that they will be impossible to match for some.

I'm also curious. I know some worried that if this ever came to fruition that it would be a sign of weakness for SE. Like they could never top "this" so they could only use it as a last resort. I wonder if that sentiment still holds. It was neither right or wrong but certainly an interesting perspective.

How many third party games are exclusive? There is always an asterisk next to the text when announced or some PR buzz word like "first on" or "debuts on".

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by making uninspired remakes. If you screw with the fans in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase the FFVII remake for any system, nor will they purchase any of Square-Enix's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel the FFVII remake or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I think with it being a remake they will be changing a lot of stuff to bring it up to date and I can see the turn based battle system being one of the first things to be changed but we'll see what happens

my random based on nothing predictions:

game is a complete overhaul, mechanics/materia remain similar but redone. 3d world with fixed camera similar to lost odyssey. winter 2017 announced but delayed to 2018, then possibly delayed again to 2019. may become vaporware and the new e3 joke every year until 2020 when it shows up again.

2030 people start talking about how great the game was and start demanding a new HD remake.

I'm not even a big FF7 fan, I prefer Crisis Core to the original game. But even I am so incredible hyped for this.

They would have said console exclusive if this wasn't coming out on the One. 15 isn't even announced for PC, and 13 pc ports seemed like such an after thought. I'm not sure this will come out on PC, and if it does it'll be long after even the Xboxone release. A shame too since FF7 came out on PC around the same time as it did on PSX. In any case I'll be grabbing it day 1 on PS4.

Some have other versions but it's looking like PS4 is the one system that gets them all. (15, 7, Chibi FF, Type-0, 14, X-HD, KH3)
