That was kinda sad, that video just confirmed that I will never own a Wii-U, the first Nintendo console I will ever skip. Starfox just looked so unambitious and basic.

They don't even seem to care anymore.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
The thing about this year is, this is the year where after last year, they would have 3rd parties releasing games for them while other WiiU games are currently in development. But they didnt have 3rd parties to rely on :(

Starfox is good.

Zelda is a throwaway spin off that I won't bother with.

Waifu Emblem is pure shit and FExSMT even more so.

Mario Maker is good but they spent way too much time on it.

Wooly World releases really soon and there was nothing new about it for how long they spent on it.

Mario RPG, eh, I can take it or leave it.

Again Xenoblade is something we've heard about a shitton of times.

...You clearly haven't seen any conference. This was an average direct. A 6/10. It did fall behind because Sony sucked the dicks of ever Neogaf member and was never gonna top it. But because Nintendo came after...it's now the worst. Of course.

okay then

Starfox is *perfect*

Animal crossing home designer actually caught my interest!

I still want super Mario maker

Paper Mario x Mario and Luigi looks so goddamn great!

Animal crossing Mario party isn't what I wanted, but it looks really fun!

Is that FE game smtxFE? I want that real bad now

I still want yoshi

MARIO TENNIS

all in all, a solid direct when I had no expectations but "I hope star fox doesn't suck"

That was pretty 'meh' if I'm being honest. The only standout to me was the mario rpg.

The seeming abandonment of the Wii U is disastrous. If they release the NX as a Wii U successor next year, then it will be technologically 2+ years behind the next Xbox and PS6 (assuming a 5-year cycle).

Then what? Release another successor prematurely?

Reminds me of Sega with the 32X then Saturn, too much too soon yet too little too late.

They need to bite the bullet, support the Wii U until next gen is actually ready to start. Anything else is just digging their grave.

Just for perspective:

Digital Event 2014:
Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
Introduction of Amiibo
Yoshi's Woolly World*
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
Zelda Wii U
Pokemon OR/AS
Bayonetta 1/2
Hyrule Warriors Wii U*
Kirby's Canvas Curse
Xenoblade Chronicles X*
Super Mario Maker*
Splatoon

Digital Event 2015:
Star Fox U
Skylanders/Amiibo crossover
Zelda Triforce 3DS
Hyrule Warriors 3DS*
Metroid Federation Force 3DS
Animal Crossing Festival
Animal Crossing Room Building Thingy
Yoshi's Woolly World*
Xenoblade Chronicles X*
Super Mario Maker*
Mario Tennis
Mario Paper Jam
Yokai Watch

*mentioned at both Digital Events

I'm sure I missed a few things.

This really sums up the disappointment.

Last years E3 got me to go out and buy a Wii U and 3DS

This years E3 made me annoyed.

This was worse than their goddamn random directs. What a fucking shitshow. Sit in a middle school gynmasium and talk about Skylanders for 10 minutes... really?

"Like when we showed Bayonetta 2 here last year"

Oh you're talking about that game that got people excited? Why wasn't there any of those this year?

Most of it is stuff we already knew about. There were only a few new games, and they were not what people wanted.

People wanted a really Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime Wii U title. Instead, they gets lame spin offs for the 3DS.

I can understand wanting new stuff and being frustrated by animal crossing

However, Nintendo made it abundantly clear that they were only showing the next ~8 months of releases. Not sure how realistic everyone's expectations were.

I'm doing this largely to process what we've just seen, but let me get this straight...
Metroid spin-off, Zelda: Three Swords Adventures, Mario and Luigi: there's paper in it, amiibo Crossing, Star Fox, Mario Tennis, Yokai, trailers for games we know like the backs of our hands, and puppets.

I've probably missed something, but I really hope the NX is coming out next year. The spin-off, Zelda, and Mario&Luigi might pique my interest, but those aren't what I wanted at all...
Where's all the "Nintendo is crapping on us" coming from, though? I think this is more the face of a company moving out than a company that's actively trying to make us hate them. I don't hate Nintendo, but I can agree that it's been disappointing.

Oh, and PlatinumGames working on Star Fox. It was true all along. lol

I made a thread, but I should've read the E3 rules first. Sorry bout that, mods. I'm learning!

So after their Digital Event, it seems pretty clear that Nintendo is moving all of its central resources to the NX and/or another platform for a late-2016 launch. The Even was focused on Wii U and 3DS games: we're getting Star Fox, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, a tennis game, and that's abouuuut it. Reggie made it super clear at the beginning of the Event that there were more things being made, but they would be revealed along with the NX next E3.

The NX could either be a console, portable system, both, or something else entirely. With Zelda Wii U not even being mentioned or hinted, it's exceedingly clear it's being ported to the NX (which will probably-- most likely have some kind of touchscreen features). Maybe there will be a Wii U version, but if they wanted to release it for the Wii U, I'm sure we would have at least seen it in some form. The fact that we didn't is nearly confirmation to me of its NX upgrade.

We got Hyrule Warriors and an HD upgrade of Wind Waker, but it looks like the Wii U will never have a main Zelda adventure you'll need to buy a Wii U to play. The successor to the Wii has some incredible games-- and is very much a console worth owning. But if you buy Nintendo consoles based on the release of "core" Zelda games, like myself, the Wii U will be the first Nintendo console since 2001 that you'll be skipping. It seems like that is now a finality, more than three years after getting hyped for "Project Café."

Do you guys think Nintendo's next console will benefit from a core Zelda at launch, at the expense of robbing the Wii U of its final killer app?

NES: The Legend of Zelda

SNES: A Link to the Past

N64: Ocarina of Time

Gamecube: The Wind Waker

Wii: Skyward Sword

Wii U: ...

I mean, I know a lot of people like to platform champion and exaggerate to make their platform of choice look appealing to the eyes of the internet.

But my Vita is getting more releases than my Wii U.

Back to Splatoon and Ryu.

Very underwhelming...
Totally clear that everything is NX now. Was clear with all that talk about transformation.

Still looking forward to Star Fox. Just in tree house they confirmed it is co developed with PLATINUM ! With director of Bayo 2!

Yoshi wooly world next week here in Europe and Xenoblade and SMTxFE. That's enough for me, still have a huge backlog.

I wonder if Zelda goes fully to NX. Would be an even harder punch into face of Wii U purchasers.

Holy console wars, dude. You seriously pissed at Sony's conference because they announced games that gamers actually want?

Same here. I had every console from the NES up to the Wii. This makes me sad. Gonna get a ps4 instead. Maybe I will buy a wii U when it's dirt cheap.

Some thoughts:
-Star Fox (more info) : Looks great, probably the best game of the event. I'm not that excited about it though, I've never played or liked SF that much... The fact that PG works on this is pure hype too.
-Skylanders Reveal : Good news I guess, I don't plan to buy Skylanders anytime soon though.
-Zelda 3DS Multiplayer Reveal : Looked okay, it will be good. At least it has online, this really sealed the deal.
-Hyrule Warriors 3DS Port Reveal : Known, my opinion is still the same. It's okay and it may be worth it but not exciting at all
-Metroid Prime Fed Force Reveal : I want to see more but I'd prefer a proper 2D Metroid...
-Fire Emblem If More Footage : Great moment at the event but already known stuff...
-Fire Emblem x SMT More Footage : I liked it, even though it's way too animu even for me.
-Xenoblade X More Footage (Already released in Japan) : Not excited at all. The game will be godlike but this is th Nth time we see this.
-Animal Crossing Rooms 3DS Reveal : Not interested. I'd prefer a proper AC.
-Animal Crossing Amiibo Party Reveal : A shame this isn't a proper AC...
-Yoshi’s Wooly World More Footage : The game will be good but ffs no more Wooly World!!!
-Yokai Watch: Known and not that interesting.
-Paper Mario and Luigi Reveal : Seems great. I liked it a lot and the idea is really neat.
-Mario Tennis Reveal : Not interested in such games. I'd prefer Strikers a lot more.
-Mario Maker More Footage : Looked really good but we've already seen it plenty of times.

Generally? It's one of the worst E3 shows of the last few years. Not something really big. The Smash Direct was better even with everything leaked. I don't understand why they used so much time for known stuff or developer stories. And the muppets were not that great...

You think exclusive or some sort of cross gen deal? I wonder if Nintendo could even afford to simply cancel the wii u version, considering they've probably put a decent chunk of money into that version?

I don't know how long they've had this move in mind, if they are moving it to NX at all. Maybe it's cross gen.

Quick comments before I go back over my scorecard on the first page of the thread:

- Definitely the least essential Nintendo showing in a long time. I don't see myself ordering anything I didn't already intend to order, although one thing I will say is that I am now securely sold on Star Fox.

- Still no sign Fire Emblem Fates (If) will be separated into Black/White releases in the west, which is good, because as much as it might fly in Japan, that release strategy is dumb. (Although, as I write this, it seems some new information has come to light saying they are doing the dual release? Damn.)

- Super Mario Maker, Yoshi (NA), Star Fox, and Xenoblade X will keep me busy through 2015. I'm not worried about my Wii U not getting enough use.

- I'm somewhat surprised they said right to our faces they'll show NX in 2016, but that's the timetable we all expected. Chances of a Twilight Princess scenario for a new Zelda: high.

- Tri Force Heroes (Three Swords 3DS) and the co-op Metroid Hunters will depend heavily on whether people I know will play them with me. I like them well enough conceptually (Zelda in particular)

- No interest in the Animal Crossing Amiibo game, and I say this as an Animal Crossing nut.

- No interest in M&L riding the coattails of Paper Mario—it looks very much like AlphaDream's work, which I haven't taken to since Superstar Saga, and capitalizing on the more prestigious Paper Mario brand is not fooling me in the slightest.

- Will wait for word of mouth on Mario Tennis. I probably won't need it to fill my library unless it turns out to be stupendous.

- If you don't follow Nintendo closely, the SMTxFE music video must have left you completely lost. If you do follow Nintendo closely, it told you nothing. I think this succinctly captures the problem with this entire presentation.

I think the main disappointment is that we heard so little that was new, but the Wii U still looks good for late 2015—just in all the ways we've already known about for the past year. Zero change in my purchasing decisions, positive or negative.

I'm guessing no more traditional 3D mario games or even a remaster of one for the Wii U.

Anyway, let me get hyped for Super Mario Universe on NX.
