I would honestly pay to unlock the difficulties if they were cheap as fuck and not expensive.

But this is only because I have already beaten DMD on DMC4 and gotten all S ranks. I would never do it for DMC5 for example.

It's so that new players can just post their single best combo. 30 seconds is more than enough to post a good combo.. the gifs posted in the OP are combos that are less than 30 seconds.

The issue isn’t that you can’t get a combo in during 30 seconds, it’s that you can only get one or two in during that timeframe. Devil May Cry’s combat has always had enough to showcase to the point where 30 seconds would only be hitting less than a percentile of its possiblities, whether the player is casual or isn’t. Even if you were the best player in the world making an amazing combo within that allotted time, there’s simply too much in 4SE to showcase any significant portion of your ability in a mere 30 seconds. Capcom’s official format for their DmC competition for these reasons can also be viewed as unfair. The original True Style Tournament held more sufficient times and nobody ended up making their combo videos too long or too fancy. If the user count is too high (though I doubt at this rate of reception it’s going to get more than /v/style or even TST2) then simply adjust every entry to be 2 minutes. That significant change in time can at least ensure you do a variable lot more.
You can keep your current frame if you’d like since you’re in charge and I doubt anyone’s minds will change at the snap of a finger. No matter how you see it though, 30 seconds is simply not a good amount. The only convenience it brings is being short to judge, but that in itself only defeats the nature of this competition.

Unlocking difficulties and abilities again is annoying, but I'm just gonna start with Vergil on Devil Hunter, then do Lady/Trish on Son of Sparda, then finish with Nero/Dante on DMD, I think. I want to get a sense of good upgrade paths for the new characters and stuff, not just start with them already maxed - the learning period is genuinely more useful than just starting out with everything unlocked.

Yeah, DMC4 vanilla was my life back in 2008, and I unlocked everything legit. I might bite on the "cheat mode" DLC. I mean, what pride is there to lose if you've already done it the legit way before? I did the same on Tales of Hearts R US as I got the Platinum trophy on the Japanese version legit.

To the person who was asking if the game will run on a 460, it probably will. The system requirements have gone up from the vanilla PC port, but SE is based on one of the best ports on Steam. I had a terrible AMD Radeon HD 7450 in this pre-built computer before I switched it out, and even that shitty card was able to hit 45 FPS during the benchmarks. If anything you might have to run it on Medium and 720p.

Getting only one combo in is the point.

And to showcase a good fraction of the combo possibilities in a DMC game you would need hours and hours of videos to get there.

This isn't a super serious competition either, it's just friendly stuff among scrubs. If there are enough high quality submissions then we can have multiple rounds later on with longer submission times. Honestly I don't really think there should be a monetary prize for winning this either but then a lot of people wouldn't bother entering so we had to put something up.

The point isn't to showcase a character's entire arsenal in 30 seconds. It's to come up with something creative given your time constraints in a single combo. It's not only about convenience, it's also an additional hurdle.

Almost every combo video in the OP is comprised of a string of combos, each one less than 30 total seconds. I get what you're saying, but this is the first time a contest has been opened up for GAF to participate in, and it's intended for even more casual players to participate in.

Awesome!

Awesome OT! I have too many other games from the Steam sale to play right now so I'll wait for one on this, but I'm always down for more DMC in general.

Same as Burnout Paradise and EA's "Time-savers" pack, means someone that DOESN'T want to go through the hassle to 100% can 100% and then enjoy the game the way they want/sandbox.

I guess. =/

Getting back on topic, I really didn't expect them to put the original DMC4 balancing in this version too.

Depending on how the port is, I'll probably get it day one.

Ok then. I understand, just not comfortable with the idea of a short time limit.

Oh yeah, speaking of the tourney, got a question. Combo videos can or cannot be recorded in Bloody Palace? I know the lowest required difficulty for this is Son of Sparda, but does that influence using BP in any way?

More information on the tournament will come soon. I am not the main guy doing it so it's mostly up to him.

Motherfucker!

I am not going to have what could possibly be the last Devil May Cry game ever released in fucking digital format. I just realized this. I bought the OG DMC1 day 1 and if DMC4:SE is the last dmc game I need to have a boxed copy.

Do you guys suggest paying a premium and go through official or through a proxy?

I see that it's charging up her meter in the top left. Is there a way to quick charge or "buffer" the charge doing other stuff in the demonstrations so far? I wonder if she has something like Nero's EX/MAX-Act.

There doesn't appear to be an insta-charge, but her guns charge very very quickly. Each gun has different timing. She can buffer the charge while doing other things.

Alright I'll get on that.

It's a little weird to work around the site, but you basically just have to make an account and Submit a Ticket while linking the e-Capcom edition that you want:
http://www.e-capcom.com/ec/srDispPr...ctLink/1/1/A10005365/10/10/srDispProductList/

Er... it looks like it might be out of stock on the e-Capcom site now. It wasn't a few days ago. Nin-nin also only has 19(?) left in stock it seems and they hiked up the price.

There's no instant charge like Nero but her lvl1 charge on her pistols and shotgun are almost instantaneous.

Even though the implementation would've felt extremely similar, I still kinda wish there was a sort of ex-act or max-act equivalent for Lady, like an active reload. Elphelt from Xrd with her reload style mechanic is something I would have loved to see inspiration take from.

But oh well, the different charge levels and the rate at which they go up looks pretty good as is.

Is the asian version in english?

From the OP
If I import the Japanese or Asian versions, will they have English options?

Asian versions will feature full English voices, menus, and subtitles. The Japanese version will have full English voices and menus, though some of the decription text might be in Japanese only. It could also have English description text available, but we don't know yet.

Play-Asia is bundling copies of Gran Turismo 6 with the Asian version of DMC4SE. How random. Just dumping off excess stock, I guess.

I hope some of the guys in /CuhrayzeeGeneral/ at /vg/ are in GAF so that they can submit their combo videos too :>
This guy has some crazy stuff.

Donguri is awesome.
