Sony really delivered.
Nintendo really needed something big and fantastic to get back in the game. Microsoft also needed some great announcement to be able to beat Sony this generation. Instead it is Sony who delivered without mercy.
As much as I love what Sony is doing I really want Nintendo and Microsoft to gain some ground and make it a more even market. Competition is good.

Yeah, I had the same thing watching the Giantbomb E3 day one recap show.
They say it's indeed absolutely stunning visually and even the audio is all done with voice. It's unreal how amazing the presentation of this game is.

But Alex thought it really wasn't much fun to play, it was apparently also balls-to-the-wall hard so that might influence things as well.

I still hope the game is successful, because it looks amazing, but its just not my cup of tea. Replaced it with Wattam.

It was super hard to make a top 10 list this year so much to choose from AAA wise and indie(digital games) wise.

These are pretty much my feelings as well.
I do believe however that Microsoft did deliver with BC and some games as well.
Sony was the clear winner but Microsoft isn't super far away.
Nintendo, well, we all know how that turned out.

Horizon definitely was a showstopper. Checking the concept art before the reveal, I was mildly excited with the prospect but watching the full-on gameplay reveal and such a refreshing protagonist has me engaging my hype thrusters to the max.

Also the Uncharted demo gave me that tingly feeling again. Can't wait for another crazy ride and countless hours sinked into that multiplayer.

Top 5 is what I expected especially number 1 after the first showing. Well deserved for Horizon.Really hope GG keep up that momentum and show more exciting content. As excited I am about NMS, I didn't feel that the game didn't have a very good showing this E3. It was all over the place. I think something like SF5 should have been in top 10( not even interested in fighting genre either).

I'm a little surprised about Doom placing given how I found the presentation pretty boring despite it's good visuals. Shadow Warrior 2 looked so much cooler of a similar genre.

For Honor to me looked the second best new I.P game.

I find it quite interesting how Nintendo had 4 places in the top 10 last year but failed to get any this year while Sony gained a lot. MS haven't got a single placing in top 10 for 2 years now.

I think Cuphead will lose a lot of it's appeal once people realize it's just a boss rush game.

It looks better than any game i've ever seen, but if that really is all there is then i'm not really looking forward to play it. I think a lot of people still think it's a full sidescrolling platformer.

What? Really? I thought it was a platformer. Damn I have been avoiding a lot of footage because I saw one fight and I thought I had seen enough and was convinced.

Great list. Sony is going to dominate next year. Microsoft and Nintendo really need to highlight their games this year to gain some traction.

Halo 4 was #2 in 2012 on NeoGAF after The Last of Us. A pretty big franchise drop (to #29).

Naughty Dog also dropped (from #1 to #2 :p ).

Yeah, they should have been more forthcoming with that fact. In snippets it looks like a Rayman-origins-esque platformer with amazing bossfights.

But it is indeed unrealistic to expect dozens of lengthy platforming levels made with that incredible hand-crafted artstyle. It would take them forever.

Yeah I suppose. Still I dont mind that it is only boss fights if it is well designed boss fights. Seems challenging and fun from what I saw so still excited for it.

Horizon is the only retail new IP announced this year in the top 25 and it absolutely cleaned up. It's not even close

I hope that serves as a bit of a message to developers. People want new ideas and new properties

So, I am one of 5 people on neogaf that put Dreams as my most hyped game? Huh. It's a Mm game, I thought there would be more of us. :(

Edit: Good god! People are more excited for a Destiny expansion and Cuphead than Dreams? This is madness and you shall all regret it. This is absolute madness.

They need to show us how it really operates. I'm hyped about it's non-polygonal technology, terrific visuals, hinted-at-VR and cool puppetry but I have no real idea how that 'game' is operated.

Poor Metroid. Even the votes for it were miscounted. :)

Sony really delivered this year. Well deserved. Great E3.

The presentation of it wasn't really clear of how it works. From what I gather it's user friendly Zbrush ? And that jump from sculpting to animation was really weird. I mean no rigging at all? How does it work?
More info and probably people will get excited.

The problem is that unlike Horizon we still do not know much about Dreams. I think there will be some more hype for it when they show it again at PGW.

How is Shenmue 3 up there? It's not a game yet. It's like saying the dinner someone is making smells delicious and they haven't even taken the ingredients out of the grocery bag.

Big E3 showing by Sony with some brilliant games on show and well deserved number 1 spot for Guerrilla with Horizon, which was a very nice surprise.

The whole trailer was in game. Knowing how Mm works, every character in the trailer was playable (including the piano player). You can travel as a polar bear with your cub in the Arctic, you can ride a sidewinder through a sci fi city as a master chief looking dude, you can play as a little girl with a hammer and massacre zombies and you can play a piano. I heard someone who plays the piano mention that the character was playing all of the correct keys. Also, Mm mentioned that we can make music in the game. Sounds like the game of forever to me but maybe I'm just a dreamer. 8)

Too be fair, they've always been clear about that, right?

I remember the lovely Game Informer piece cited in this article, in which they talk about their goals.

I have a few reasons it didn't make my top 10:

1) We didn't actually get to really see it in action or see how the systems function. The trailer have a decent idea, but I need to know more.
2) It's a creative game. If I buy it, I expect that I'll almost exclusively play other people's dreams. No patience or skill to make my own.

Okay time to admit it guys. How many of you thought any GG game was ever going to top any voting list on NeoGAF?

Hell, I didn't think I'd ever be excited for a GG game. I really really dislike Killzone and this looks so good it's smashed through it.

Happy that Horizon is getting love. Best new game of the show imo, and something for me to look forward to besides No Man's Sky.

This. I think people are jumping the gun here. I wouldnt be surprised when shenmue turns out to be a huge disappointment because of lack of funding.

1. Fair enough. I understand this and Mm doesn't really deserve to be in my #1 spot because they were being such teases about it. "All will be revealed at Paris" they say. But I can't help myself, that shit looks hype to me.
2. I have a few concepts in my mind but I am not a very creative person and am pretty bad with the tools in Little Big Planet. I also expect to mostly be playing other people's dreams. There's nothing wrong with that.

I have no interest in Shenmue, but I can absolutely see why people are excited about it. It's the final part of a beloved RPG series, that nobody thought could ever happen, especially 13 years after the last one. It's a poll of how excited we are for the games of E3, it's current status isn't really important right now.

It's just about excitement voted on mainly by people that haven't attended he show.

It isn't an indicator of game quality. It can be more seen as an indicator of game announcement quality.
The freshness of the game concept and the history of the team behind it.

Another example that got 26 people mega stoked (#1 votes) is Project NieR which basically was an announcement that Taro Yoko gets to make another one but this time with Platinum Games.
We don't even know the budget for that one but the various variables that are known sound great to fans.

Wait WHAT?!? Is this true? Where'd you hear that. Would be super disappointing if true. Half the fun I imagined having with the game was gallivanting and platforming through gorgeous levels whilst listening to old school toon music. Ugh I really hope this isn't true.

How are any of the games on the list up there? They could all be cancelled at any moment.

Do people not read up on games they're interested in or something? Their website is pretty clear about it.

http://www.cupheadgame.com/

The gorgeous levels and toon music are still there by the way.But now you get some badass action mechanics to go with that as well, instead of indie platformer #250. :p
(though you still need to platform during certain boss fights)

But as I said before, it if takes them this long to draw dozens of boss stages, can you imagine how long it would take them to draw entire levels? The game would never release.

It's true,

I saw it on Gametrailers YouTube channel, I am on a phone so I can't link it. It's hand drawn so it's to be expected.

It's meant to be difficult, dark souls difficult.

I was imagining a retro cartoon version of shovel knight. I have 0 interest in a boss rush game. Hype completely deflated.

When you see the game IRS very easy to see why people would think it was a platformer. It fits right along with other gorgeous platformer a albeit with a cool new theme that's jaw droppingly gorgeous. In fact is eager most everyone thought it was one.

As far as their website goes, while I was excited for the game I also knew it was a long way off so I was trying not to spoil myself in anything during the wait. I HATE going into new games knowing exactly what to expect. So yea I didn't know not because I wasn't excited enough about it but because I was so excited about it I didn't want spoil it for myself. Doesn't matter now anyway I have 0 interest in boss rush games. Just not my cup of tea.

Horizon Zero Dawn is SO deserving of that #1 spot. If these games live up to the hype and have no delays 2016 will be one for the record books for PlayStation.

Also really cool that GG thought a Neogaf award was worth tweeting.

Probably the only enthusiast award worth tweeting about. The hardest of the hardcore gamers that aren't press. If you make it through the Gaf Gauntlet on top, you probably have something amazing in the works. I bet you Sony and MS have a keen eye on NeoGaf, as they should.

To be honest, going into E3 I didn't anticipate Uncharted 4 to rank very highly for me personally but that demo just blew me away. I've always loved Uncharted, but was slightly disappointed they weren't making another new IP. The demo changed my mind into being glad they are making one more Uncharted game. I ended up ranking it as 2nd on my list (behind Horizon)

I felt the same way about uncharted. But ND outdid themselves again and wowed me. Horizon deserves the top spot. Pretty game with all the right ingredients to be a good game and franchise.
