Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Really?

I could max mine on my 770.
I could but I didn't get a steady 60 FPS, it took a few bad dips and the benchmark averaged at something like 55 IIRC.
I'd rather have a consistent performance.

Turning off PhysX obviously made that go away. I didn't fiddle more to see if I could use the extra processing to use something like GeDoSaTo instead of PhysX.

I'm gonna wait a few weeks to see how performance on my fellow 290 owners' rigs are.

Hopefully we can get the game to look good with a mixture of high/ultra settings sprinkled with a few Hairworks effects (tessellation optimized of course lol) for good measure.

This game has a lot of GPU PhysX right? Would be interesting to see difference in performance between running it on a high end CPU vs GPU.

i7 3770k @ 4.2GHz
16GB of RAM
2GB GTX 680 OC

GTX 580 to handle the PhysX stuff.

Hopefully I'll be able to run it at high settings 1080p/60fps.

Am I mistaken or did I read somwhere else that nowadays a separate card for physx effects is basically unnecessary? I'm not even sure that physx is tied with Gameworks, I think that everything is under the "Gameworks" platform now?

Yeah a separate card is overkill, but you can still choose to run it on CPU or GPU. Some games actually perform better when you run it on CPU. But that's usually limited to basic PhysX effects and not advanced GPU PhysX, as this game claims to have.

Honestly, from what I remember, it helped out a lot in Arkham Origins, but not sure if it's considered "GameWorks." I can confirm that it did nothing in Witcher 3, oddly.

Oops, forgot that this is coming tonight. Only a 33.7GB download required...

Only. LOL. How times have changed.

I'm hoping for magical things on my i5-3570k @ 4Ghz, 8Gig of ram and a GTX970 (overclocked if required).

This could be the best looking game to date.

I'm holding out for my 980 Ti Classified. I don't have confidence in my 780 Ti with all the new fancy effects.

I feel ya. Im worried about what this 780 ti can do. The 3 gigs of Vram hopefully wont kill me here. Im gonna have to upgrade soon. Just dont want to spend the 700 bucks on the 980ti to be in the same boat a year and a half later. But those are the breaks I guess.

Very bad things, Nvidia drivers have started crashing when alt tabbed and using Google chrome. Sometimes just using Google chrome is enough without even being in a game. Never had this issue pre witcher 3 drivers.

I fixed the Chrome crashes by turning of Hardware Acceleration.

I wonder if this actually works for most people. I've read multiple reports/posts today about disabling hardware acceleration fixing the issue but typically fixes like these never work for me and that fix doesn't seem to be all that popular, at least not yet. But if it works..

I almost want to try my luck and install these new drivers. The previous ones that never crash (for me) are from March so I'm quite a few driver updates behind already and at 2560x1440, my 970 could use all the help possible.

Fwiw, it worked for me as well. Crashing on Chrome stopped entirely after disabling hardware acceleration. I have a high end CPU, so it made no difference. I can see that being a noticeable trade off for slower CPUs.

I got this early cuz I got it for a cheaper price, no idea it would have issues on AMD. That will learn me! I'll be reporting about my 280X. When does it unlock exactly?

AMD users be on watch

We also want to note that there are some known issues with the performance of Batman: Arkham Knight for PC owners using AMD graphics cards. We are working closely with AMD to rectify these issues as quickly as possible and will provide updates here as they become available. We thank you for your patience in this matter.

I know this didn't work for everybody but all of my driver crashes went away when I did a clean install of the driver.

Stupid question, that probable can't be answered yet, so for give me in advance.

Does this new arkham knight game driver retain the Kepler performance boosts from the last update.?

I'm rocking an OG TITAN. that's why i ask.

The latest nVidia drivers now installed and I'm 25% pre-loaded.

I think realistically I'll be playing this tomorrow after work :(
