Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

So... what. Should I hold off playing it for now? or are these optimization issues ATI only, or can I just be happy with medium settings at 1080p60 and be off with it?

Just did the unthinkable, I've asked for my refund on Steam. Considering how much I was anticipating this game, it's quite sad that I won't be playing it now. If I wasn't so against giving them more money I'd probably buy the PS4 version as a quick fix. :(

So the FPS cap edit is working fine but when I try to remove the motion blur or edit anything else the game crashes before it makes it to the main menu. Is anyone actually able to disable motion blur or is this just me?
I wouldn't mess around with it. Reading on reddit that this can cause the game to delete and start to reinstall itself.

No big deal. I'm hopeful that they'll patch it soon enough and all these issues and complaining will be a thing of the past. So yeah, refund if you really want and just buy it again after they patch it.

It's not only the performance issues that are bugging me, but the graphics themselves.

Maxed out at 1440P on my Titan X, it doesn't look as good as the E3 demos they've been showing off the past few years.

Maybe I am remembering wrong, but those demos blew me away, whereas playing it myself, it doesn't actually seem like that much of an improvement from Arkham City.

Anyone feel this way or am I crazy?

It's definitely an ugly game, the DX11 effects look nice but they're slapped on a base of low-res textures and blurry filters. It looks like a mess, no definition.

Disabling all the Gameworks crap delayed the crashing, but it still happened eventually. This time, it just locked up my entire PC. It doesn't play nicely with the Steam interface or the MSI Afterburner interface (unless I disable Gameworks stuff).

Sucking up roughly 4700 MBs of VRAM on my 980 Ti and I'm getting a lot of FPS drops despite low GPU and individual CPU core usage.

Man, this is probably the last time I pre-order a game, especially on PC.

Performance isn't horrible, but it's definitely not great. As soon as you get into the Batmobile, it drops to 30FPS or less. I'm not raging, as I imagine it's performing on par with the console versions, but I got it on PC under the assumption it'd be the best way to play it. With the exception of Shadow of Mordor, WB PC games have been a mess lately.

Is anyone getting a audible buzzing noise in the background while playing?

The post with screens just a few up seems more like texturing streaming issues than anything else.

Honestly, I probably will. At least this way I get to send some sort of message, however redundant it may turn out to be.

The actual gameplay mechanics were killer, though. I'm hesitant to blame Rocksteady because I love their previous work so much, but Iron Galaxy are definitely on my shitlist after this.

I haven't noticed a buzzing, but my experience with the Batmobile is the same. The game is just unplayable once I get in that damn car.

And now I'm getting a fatal error, awesome. This is a fucking joke.

They're clearly not meant to be the real textures. They are pre-pop in textures, something is causing random shit to not pop in. I had it on commission gordon for a scene once.

:/ considering that's a main part of the game this sucks... Guess I'll wait for the patches to come 1st.

Do people having these issues have Gameworks effects turned on at all?

Douchebag. Yes, me.

Yeah, I noticed that buzzing as well. Also the audio levels were all over the map for me. It also seemed to be dropping sounds during combat.

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but I can't even play the game because the game file is utterly corrupted every time I download it. Upon starting it up, the intro scenes flicker and play at an abysmally low frame rate, giving me no choice but to force quit (which takes a while given the lag). When I verify game cache, it literally revalidates the ENTIRE GAME and has to install it all over again. Rinse and repeat.

Anyone else getting this?

Haha, this sounds like a total trainwreck. Can't refund due to Nvidia code.

Waiting for DF to confirm that the PS4 version is superior. :p

I don't know why I expected there would be no WB fuckery when it came to this port. I've done ok with my i5 3570k/ GTX 970 combo (if by ok you mean no crashes to the desktop), but the game does look kinda muddy. The 30 FPS and grain filter kills it.

Shit, what the hell is going on? This isn't the only game that's pulled this malarkey. There's no way the PS4 versions of these games should be better. But they are.

Fuck it, I'm buying Star Wars: Battlefront on the PS4. Same shit is probably going to happen with that one too.

I just played Arkham Origins a week ago and I swear that game was sharper.

There's a problem with Steam's verify integrity on Arkham Knight right now, which causes it to download the entire game again. I'd wait before trying it again - hopefully by tomorrow they'll have ironed it out.

I forgot to increase my page file to 8GB but it went to 3.3GB out of the 4GB available (have it set to minimum of 200) when I tabbed out and checked.

Also, how's this look?

Can a 970 even run this game at 30fps locked at 1080p with all settings maxed?

With just the smoke/fog disabled, the shitty AA off and shadows set to normal the game is barely utilizing 40% of my EVGA SSC 970 and usually in the low 30s from what I could see.

What's your system RAM usage?

I just looked in my e-mail and saw an offer to restart GameFly for like $7 for a month so I just did that to play Batman on PS4.

What a mess this is. I'm seriously bummed out. Like I said before, I canceled all of my other pre-orders for the year.

I'm running a GTX 780 and i7 3770k in 1080p.

Haven't dabbled with the FPS cap but have everything on max (including the Nvidia stuff) and everything seems completely fine. Stable framerate at all times bar once when I powerslid in the Batmobile.

Battlefront is DICE. DICE ain't fuckin' up no PC version.

Same reason why Mordor is the only non-fucked game that shipped at launch from WB. PC devs doin' PC dev shit.

Now you guys discover what it truly means to be "in the Lang zone"

langzone.gif

Apparently it means bad optimization, texture streaming issues, crashes, a useless benchmark, a lack of options and terrible DRM :(
