Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

OGS has a very good reputation as a reseller in Australia. They source their games from the United Kingdom for resale in Australia. I'm not aware of shady activities like reselling promotional keys. Would be quite a surprise.

Well:

OGS is a legitimate business, but at the end of the day these are still resold physical keys, a practice which no publisher condones/endorses, and thus they carry the same risks as keys bought from sites that deal exclusively in resold keys. Simply CD Keys is an off-shoot of UK retailer Simply Games and a GAFer had his Dark Souls 2 key revoked, for example.

Who? Are they insiders? Are they speculating?

People need to stop repeating information without explicitly sourcing it. No more "I heard", "someone said" etc. It's important that the information we have is accurate since so many people are just repeating speculation / guesses about reasons why performance is happening, who did what in the development, etc.
i really hope is true tho

Woke up this morning to try out the games after reading how terrible it was last night. To my surprise, I keep a pretty steady 60 FPS. Granted, I've only played about 30-45 minutes this morning before work. Only think I changed was the ini file to allow 60 FPS. I have two 980's in SLI but I disabled SLI and set my second card to handle PhysX.

...I also have a G Sync monitor, so I wonder if that's helping matters.

And stuttering. The stuttering mentioned is the constant drop to single digit frames.

Unlocking the frame limit doesn't solve frame pacing issue.
And I was getting stuttering when I was locked in too. Unlocked to 144fps, smooth sailing from 80-90 after that.

Pretty sure framerate works that way, in that it can't simply drop from 30 to 29 or something like that. When it drops, it drops in some sort of multiple. Too tired to look it up.

Just saw the end credits on youtube and it does indeed show Iron Galaxy Studios as "Additional Engineering and PC Support"

With everything off or low including Vsync it holds 30fps mostly with dips to 20 when driving, Arkham Origins runs at 60fps. I should have got the console version for once.

I have no idea what I'm reading :)

Yeah, that's a post-release sub. It's literally not even a day old. You'll have to hit up the store for a Harley Quinn key.

Batman: Arkham Knight Retail

That's not a pre-order package, either. It seems that physical copies in particular are essentially bundles (post-release game key + pre-order DLC key).

It seems that after Shadow of Mordor, WB Game's PC versions have continued to slide down shit mountain. Glad I stayed away on this one. =(

10fps? Dude your game runs at ONE THIRD of the intended speed. The Input Delay is 3x higher than intended. I'm not someone who is hung up on framerate, far from it, but most people would consider 10fps literally unplayable.
I should of worded it better (which down in the post you see i drop 10-12 fps, down to 48-55FPS) but no i don't drop from 60 to 10fps, if i did i would of uninstalled it and got a refund.

The lowest i have gotten in the game is 48fps and it doesn't stutter.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
This is honestly so disgusting to watch unfold. Arkham Knight was my most anticipated game of the year and in return for buying it day 1, I'm rewarded with an incomplete, broken game. Can't get even a refund because I bought it through GMG.

Leaving a negative review on the store page, and gonna play DMC4 SE and Ori & The Blind Forest instead till this shit gets fixed, if ever.

HAH! Thats my review at the bottom.

I quite enjoyed the "Batmad" pun. You're E-Famous now.

People in this very thread have unlocked the game yet experience the single digit drops and freezes though. No one is saying your copy isn't running amazing, just that their experience is poop. PC games can be weird like that :p. It's the same with me and Witcher 3 where people got the XP bug, crazy pop in after patches and degrading performance. I got none of that.

Not everyone is having problems so that's kind of a bullshit reply. The only problem i have run into is i drop 10 maybe 12 fps when in the Batmobile but being someone who isn't hung up on the fps thing it doesn't really bother me but other then the batmobile it's literally the only problem i have and it's The Witcher 3 all over again. Half of GAF was losing their shit at "how bad" it was while the other half had no problems.

I acknowledge the game has problems since clearly so many people are having trouble but don't like anyone who isn't having problems is a fucking nutcase or some undercover spy.

With cap unlocked running on a GTX 980, i5-4690k and 8GB of ram maxed out in the limited settings menu (minus the nvidia stuff) @ 1080p i get a solid 60fps outside of the batmobile, like 90% in the batmobile i get 48-55fps.

So you have problems but they don't bother you. That is a huge difference from not having problems.

I know how that feels , I was so excited in the morning , then I played the game and It killed my hype.

Sigh.

Starforce still holds the record for conventional DRM, to my knowledge. I doubt Denuvo will beat it.

Starforce's record was 422 days with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Lords of the Fallen is coming near day 200 or so. Who knows, could go past that.

I'm just glad the issues are getting some widespread exposure not only from PC centric sites but from mainstream outlets like Game Informer. Hopefully a patch is on the way because the game can be downright unplayable at times.

Yeah as I mentioned above my brain added in a "to" before the 10fps which is why I was a bit suprised that anyone could be okay with that XD

The thing I don't get about the frame rate lock, is how can this still be done in 2015? It might be the game fundamentally can't handle more than 30fps? Perhaps we shouldn't be unlocking it and just put up with 30fps. Maybe that's better.

The problem is there's been no communication about the PC port and it seems it was purposefully kept out of circulation prior to release.

Has anyone successfully disabled motion blur? My game still crashes before the main menu when I disable it.

Probably if your cpu is overclocked to 4.5 or so?

DON'T unlock the fps, just boot into the game, turn all the settings to max including Gameworks and you should be right. The game is already capped(lol) so no need to do anything else.

I get stuttering all over the place like that. Even if it's pre locked.

One of my friends from college here in Chicago is a programmer at Iron Galaxy Studios. Afraid to ask him what's going on though w/ the game. lol

Yeah, people claiming that this is a match for The Witcher 3 visually are f*cking nuts. Also, it makes me wonder about all those previews that said that the PS4 version looked incredible. It's like, did anyone not play the previous Batman games maxed out on PC? They really, really look pretty close to this (minus the vastly improved character models for the main guys, not so much the NPCs).

Yea, I played all the Batman games on PC. I just finished Origins 2 days ago.

Arkham Knight is a huge step up. I don't really know what to tell you. It's not a couple of added effects, the game is vastly improved graphically over it's predecessors. What holds it back is how jaggy it is and the awful AA implementation.

And yes, the few moments the game's managed to run at 60 FPS for me, it impressed me more then Witcher 3.

The fact that they gave a 30FPS lock as the default is hilarious , the opening screen should just say , go buy a PS4.

The Jaggies in this game drive me nuts , I mean how can you have jaggies when AA is on and the game is at 4k is beyond me.

PC has become more mainstream these days, with Steam expanding like crazy over the years.

I don't doubt that they are a good physical reseller. But they don't seem to be authorised digital reseller in the least. Hence why they sell Battle.net keys and can sell Batman for 30$. They are not getting from the publisher do we dont know the source. Could be from physical copies, could be from NVIDIA promotion.

This game has inspired me, I just had to write a review for it.

I remember the look in his eyes. Those raving, inhuman eyes. And that laugh, that felt like disease writhing under my skin.

And those words.

"The... punchline, Bats. Oh, wait till it hits you..."

Until now, I'd hoped it was a ruse, the desperate dying words of a madman grasping to retain any kind of hold. I'd hoped the words had been hollow, that the joke was over.

How could I have let myself hope?

The rain is falling, it looks the way I dreamed rain would look. Falling gracefully, dancing playfully as it glances off my cape. And as it pours, so do the shafts of light, breaking through from the heavens and cascading with promise of illumination, but what's the use if it doesn't help you see?

The rain, the light, all it does is muddy the sky, impair my vision.

There's no clarity here, just a dying city and the echoes of a madman's laughter.

"You won't be able to see it coming, Bats."

He was right. I can't see. Everything is doused in a blur that smothers all detail. I wonder if I've occidentally ingested some of the Scarcrow's toxin. I run a blood analysis and it comes back clean.

But this isn't clean. This isn't clear. This city is fractured, everything moves in slow motion, and that laugh wraps itself around my bones.

"You shouldn't have hoped, Bats. You should know better than that."

I knew, damn his eyes I knew.

He always did have the last laugh.

Now some in the community seem to think that verifying the game install (and thus downloading it all again) may fix the problem.

I don't think i'm going to try that.

Really? I don't see it. I'm looking at shots of both from the PC screen shot thread and not seeing it.

MAterials shader son some objecs look better, for sure, metal, Batman's cape, but if I didn't know better, I'd have a hard time picking out AO or eve AC vs this game ona screenshot.

dropping a few frames isn't a problem, it's just the closest thing to a problem i could come up with in this argument.

Never been one to care unless it drops below 25-30.

But like i said clearly there is a huge fucking problem when the majority of people here and everywhere are complaining. I guess i lucked out like i did with Witcher 3 when it came out and just haven't ran into the major issues (yet). Hopefully it's fixed soon so people can enjoy the game because it's fucking awesome and it's fucking tragic people can't play it because they shit the bed with the port.

Still completely baffled as to how goddamn limited the graphic options though. Even origins had a more robust option menu.

My PC performance is exactly like in that RPS video. At this point my mood toward the game has turned from "most anticipated of the year" to "well fuck this" in a short span of time.

Even if they fix it soon I don't think I'll be able to fully enjoy it at the moment because of all of this. RS done fucked up.

Dragon Age: Inquisition uses Denuvo as its DRM, DAI has been cracked quite long time ago.

They commented on it today; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=169500419&postcount=2846

Don't do that shit. Probably better to wait for an official patch, because clearly game has some serious issues.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone or provide any guidance, but I played for an hour last night when it released and had none of these awful issues I'm seeing. That Rock Paper Shotgun video looked sad :(

Here are my specs in case anyone finds it useful:

Core i7 3770-K @ 4.5 GHz
16 GB RAM
Titan X (On just released 353.30 WHQL drivers)
Running at 1080p
Max settings (though I saw that textures can only be set to "Normal" as highest)

PC Performance benchmark gave me somewhere of an average of upper 90s fps.
The framerate does seem capped outside the benchmark tool, but there were no drastic framedrops when I played.

I have a strange issue on steam with this game, I am not getting trading cards and can't actually load the achievement page even though I see them pop up ingame. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm guessing they know full well the game runs terribly and figured for the average person, it'd be safer to just cap it at 30fps so it provides a 'playable' experience.
