unlock special missions to fight and recruit them

Each of the 4 FE Amiibos unlocks the respective guest character in your castle as a bonus unit. Think of it as cameos like Cloud in FFT PSP.

Scanning Marth, Ike, Lucina, or Robin brings them into My Castle.
There you can battle and have have limited interactions with them.
All of them are voiced, have unique sprites/models, and new art.

thank you so much.
can't wait to see my good ol' Ike in Fates :D

Btw, wouldn't have been smart to offer an amiibo bundle (similar to the "Splatoon trio", but with the FOUR FE amiibos), for FE If?

Yah what now.... Wasn't this free, with many more characters in Awakening. Either these come with a full support dialogue/voice acting or that's a complete rip off.

Plus: wasn't just the first time-limited missions intended to be free DLC in Awakaning? I remember having downloaded just that for that reason.

They already have 3 SKUs for the same game... That already seemed too much since FE traditionally have only one (and a bundle SKU with Awakening).

No I don't think it was free in Awakening. They had free Spotpass stuff, but the majority of the DLC itself were pay, and there were pack bundles too.

I'm talking about spot pass, there's a massive host of characters you can unlock for Awakening from past F characters. I believe some even had skill combinations you couldn't have in the main game, or a least with lords. eg, you could have a pretty powerful second lord wielding falchion, even if you didn't bother levelling up lucina etc.

I'm talking about the characters themselves. The DLC basically resold those characters with new art etc. Each character had it's own equipment sets, sprite, and art.

Well, these are missions with characters, from what I remember are the equivalent of the paid DLC. Don't know if there will be also Spotpass functions in IF (I didn't know neither about the amiibo stuff :D )

And if there is, I'm also surprised about the lack of an amiibo bundle, considering how good Splatoon amiibos sold and how popular FE seems to be.

Have there been any amiibo/game bundles for 3DS yet? I think they've all been on Wii U, haven't they?

Post pointing the obvious: Oh wow at Splatoon staying strong and Wii U selling more than PS4. Regardless of how bad the hardware sales still are it is nice to see Wii U above the 10k mark. If only we had software being released to maintain or improve that...

I don't think the game really needs Spotpass functions given that that My Castle stuff supports both Streetpass and WFC.

Chibi robot will be the first 3DS amiibo bundle, I think, but I wasn't able to find a Japanese confirmation

chibirobo.png

so the first Japanese amiibo 3ds bundle could be the Animal crossing HD one with the cards (there will be also the bundle with the nfc-reader)

So I wonder if they will use Yuri Lowenthal for Marth in the english version? Also, if the Roy amiibo eventually gets supported, will he get an english voice too?

Great job Splatoon. I was worried this game would bomb and the online would unfortunately die quickly. Fortunately it seems the online should stay alive for a good amount of time, and the new game modes and maps will also help in that regard. With my work schedule I'm often playing the game in the middle of the night NA ease coast time. I usually find games super quick and am often the only non Japanese player.

Has Story of Seasons RPG game been confirmed as coming to the West?

Curious to see how the new Fire Emblem does. Shame we have to wait so long to get it in NA. :(

There's going to be a spotpass function in FE IF. Spotpass is mentioned in the communication settings, based on what has been reported in Serenes (FE fan site), although it's not known yet what it'll be exactly. There's no "bonus teams" (the 120 past game characters in Awakening created with the avatar system), but there's "Bond Units", "Facilities" and "Accessories".

Yah what now.... Wasn't this free, with many more characters in Awakening. Either these come with a full support dialogue/voice acting or that's a complete rip off.

They have battle VA, some My Castle functions and dialogue. Still, no supports and no compatibility with the support related stuff in My Castle either (also no level up quotes, oddly enough, even though they do have quotes for the parts of My Castle they can use).

All 4 Amiibo characters also have custom models and classes though (something only Marth had in Awakening, and it was just an edited Lucina), including exclusive battle animations, 4 exclusive skills and they come with their own unique weapons (well, at least Marth, Lucina and Ike do). There's also a chapter attached to each one, like Awakening's paid DLC.

poor b2nd :(

It was expected, though; and afaik they haven't sold even the first shipment at all. That's the negative part of it. It's really a shame.

Also glad to read this. Thanks everyone who helped. It's really appreciated.

Scanning Marth, Ike, Lucina, or Robin brings them into My Castle.
There you can battle and have have limited interactions with them.
All of them are voiced, have unique sprites/models, and new art.

That's pretty decent amiibo implementation, are they otherwise unusable outside of the My Castle feature?

It's down to 31 currently. Not a disaster, but if it keeps dropping 10 positions a week, it will be in a few more weeks relative to its stature.

This is what I was curious about since last time you posted the graph of its movements. We had seen it bounce back up but I had been wondering if that hadn't been driven by something temporary (such as an event or just still lingering interest from outside people).

From anecdotal word-of-mouth, it has some strengths in the wow-factor but the underlying package flounders fast. A lot of spectacle and a lot of grind/monotony, would be the general MO I've heard. I'm interested to see if it keeps slipping, and I'd have to wonder how much of an affect word of mouth has on such a title.

It's normal for games to go up with events that encourage you to spend more money, but the average position over time is also relevant unless you spike very, very well when an event happens like Quiz RPG going from ~200 to #2.

Here's the actual chart:

Given that it is still relatively high and goes up instead of just generally down, I think it would respond well to new content (I hear it launched with only one chapter), but I have no idea if they have the actual production capability set up to release content in a reasonable timeframe.

Oh no argument there, I simply meant that it seems to have an overall downward trajectory with resuscitating bumps along the way. But this will become clearer in a few more weeks, I'd wager.

Monster Gear has been around for a pretty long time now, so I decided to do another check:

It looks like this will be a longer term hit for Sega.

Guess copying Mon Hun have been a great move by Sega here.^_^

And Hortensia current event sadly is sooo bad.T_T What are they thinking with this stupid casino event.T_T

Animal Crossing HHD went from 71 to 123 points.

Wow, that's a pretty big jump! Release date for HHD? Has anyone data of FD points and LD points for New Leaf?

Dead or Alive 5 (Free 2 Play edition) has been downloaded more than 3.5 million times.

I think imo this and other possible milestones could become a huge reason for Koei, to develop much more games for smartphones. Have some data of other Koei's mobile titles?

Nobunaga's Ambition 201X launched last month on Android and iOS, the game has aready sold 400,000+ units.

Nobunyaga Guru Guru dungeon is another smartphone game from Koei which has sold 585,000.

Dead or Alive 5 has seen strong sales at retail but ultimately the free 2 play version is the winner here with Digital revenue now playing a vital part for Koei.

Kind of a separate question, but any idea why Koei-Tecmo is bringing those 2 old DS games to 3DS? It didn't seem like they were adding all that much either from what I could tell.

The hardware/software ratio is kinda disproportionate for PS4. People are buying it, they're just not really buying any games for it. Both Wii U and Vita software is outselling PS4 games, despite lower hardware sales for both. PS3 stealing a lot of sales away from PS4 with cross gen games, I guess?

Retailers still hurting from P&D: Mario Bomba edition

Guru Guru Dungeon had kept pretty strong sales, and NobuAmbi had a huge release.

That's good. Their business is not only good in dedicated console market but also in smartphone market.

That's a huge first day sell through for FE:if. Nice. Is there an estimated shipment number for the title?

Yes, it is. Don't know if there is estimated shipment numbers, but I would suggest something in the 360k - 400k range, a little bit more maybe.
