This is the course maker update isn't it? This time I'm certain, all the stars are alligned. It is also properly timed with the Pikes Peak Hillclimb Brought to you by Gran Turismo. Though Kaz said we're not getting the track itself, he said nothing about the location it's in which will probably be one of the course maker themes.

SRT Tomahawk + Goodwood update + Course Maker with Pikes Peak theme + Peugeot 208 T16

Only a few more hours left.

Whoever made the decision to use the Nurburgring for the Tomahawk X Seasonal Event is evil. The X1 really can't even prepare you for that thing.

Edit: Does 7th gear in the GTS-R sound weird to anyone else? It has a really deep tone to it and the initial downshift from it sounds like thunder. I kinda like it, but i'm not sure if it's supposed to sound like that or if it's just glitched audio.

It's geared really low, I would say its like an overdrive.

And yeah, gonna have to drag the wheel out to the family room for the X challenge. Can't do this on a DS3.

Some crazy individual has pulled a 4:05 on the Ring with the DS3. People on GTplanet are scratching their head as to how they pulled that off.

I just learned on GTplanet that if you press the NOS button you'll reduce the drag on the X model.

Yeah it was saying press R1 for a low drag mode but R1 is my shift up so it wasn't working. I don't have NOS enabled so I guess now I have to assign it.

I wish the X model would be available with the powertrain of the street version. It just looks incredible when all the aero panels are working to keep it on the track.

Seems like the de-tuned street version is by far the fastest 650pp car in the game now. Just lapped Deep Forest in 0:56:00!

3 1/2 hour maintenance incoming for the 1st of July

FIA Online Championship incoming..?

I actually wonder if it's possible that they're going to bump that to GT7. We haven't heard about it since it was announced and Kaz kinda gave the impression with his recent Peugeot interview that the only things left for GT6 are the course maker and some additional cars. It'd actually be pretty cool if they did something similar to GT6 where they announced it and a version of GT Academy based off it at the same time. TGS announcement for GT7 and then a November release for the FIAOC would be awesome.

I managed to run a dirty lap in 6.xx minutes (6:00 is for Bronze) and I have NO DAMN IDEA about type of self-control I should invest in order to produce a clean lap. I will not even imagine about running for the Gold time (5:00 and below).

It is however one of the most cruel challenges I can remember regarding need for constant throttle management. I will be trying it again and I will settle for the clean Bronze lap. But this is the type of challenge that should be final S-Licence exam (as was Sauber C9 on Nordschleife on Japanese version of GT4 for example).

Hmm after an invalid 3:50 lap I got a 4:10 with mostly coasting around the track and without touching the DRS. Sub 3:30 seems doable if you have the patience to get used to the awkward and unnatural steering behaviour of the car (unresponsive at low speeds and super twitchy at high speeds).

I'm having a hard time believing the Tomahawk is physically possible.

Engine wise? No problem, I have no doubt it is possible to engineer a car with that speed and acceleration.

Where does it get its grip from? Straight line, fine it's a lightweight AWD car, it can take off like a bullet, but what about cornering? Where does it get all that downforce? What kind of alien rubber does it have? I'm not buying it.

I have a T500RS wheel and it's been a while since the last time I played with a controller, but I just wanted to try the Tomahawk for a few minutes and couldn't be bothered to set-up my PS3 with wheelstand for it...

The Tomahawk X on the Nordschleife with a controller is probably the worst driving-sim experience I had... maybe ever. I even tried different steering sensitivity, TCS, STM...

just. completely. terrible.
(Daytona too and willow springs is mostly manageable, but not fun)

I tried the Tomahawk X earlier with the DS3 and it's all about the softest throttling until the 3rd gear. And just like the X2014, readjusting to the stick angle necessary for a hard curve, which is like a >10 degrees tap to either side.
Biggest problem with it is that Nurburgring is a butthole with its tall curbs.

I'll try with the wheel later.

Yeah ok fuck the Tomahawk X. It is so damn janky with the T500 and decides to snap to one side of the track with the simplest of motion. Maybe if I have a machine that slows down time x100 I'll be able to keep this thing on the road.

edit: Although I do like the whole "370+ mph on the Dottinger Hohe.

as i don't know how to unpack the install folder ( q-k, please!?) here is a crude view of its contents, maybe there's something hidden in there?

a wall of text too big to post here: http://www.sharebeast.com/h8c7pwy3lp2q

So... the Pitstop blog posted about this exhibit that's going on in Japan and where GT is part of, showing how they capture data for cars and tracks...

And in this picture here:

you can see that they collected data for this thing:

We also know that they're doing the Bandimere Speedway from that leaked computer image. It all makes sense now.

Makes sense as they always want to add more forms of motor racing to each GT. Bikes seem like they're highly likely as well for GT7.

Kaz is attending the FoS this year. He's going to be driving this today

The Concours d'Elegance is coming up in August, so we'll find out a new GT car there. Which means that Kaz could really start a frenzy if he picks a Porsche.

I buy other day GT6 and made a huge mistake of buying the 12gb ps3 and not the 500gb

I just forgot about the size of gt6

I will buy eventually a hardrive but not right now , i can still play the game, just dont have the complete install and any patch..... my questions is, i am missing a lot?? Is the game a good sim racer without any patch??

Or is better to wait until i buy a hardrive?

Doing a quick look at the weather/TOD for GT6, it seems like most courses already have it. The city courses are the main exception, but I think we know that's because having all those effects on those courses would bring the PS3 to a grinding halt. They should be in a good position to make it a standard feature in GT7. I'm most interested in seeing what the city courses will look like with PD's day/night lighting system instead of it always being sunny (or night in the case of SSR courses).

That'll help make the game more consistent, which is something fans have been asking for. Of course their decision on what to do with the cars will be a big factor in that consistency as well. We know Kaz said early last year that standards would be back, but that was also before they started hiring people that are clearly there to address issues that fans have had (sound and UI). So they may have started to change their minds on that. I still don't think that standards need to be removed entirely. A simple option that disables or enables them is really all that's needed. Those that have no issue with them can still choose to use and see them while those that don't like them can have a game where it looks like they don't exist.

I just hope the next GT Academy is on PS4. Hopefully that will serve as the "Prologue" for GT7 and then we get GT7 in Q4 2016 - Q1 2017.

Was able to get 5:35:797 on the Tomahawk X event. The Nurburgring is fucking brutal with such a fast car, and it doesn't help that the road is so bumpy.

I'm happy though. I was banging my head against the wall on that one for quite some time, so to finally get bronze felt like a big achievement.

I don't think I'm going to shoot for silver on that one, though...

It would certainly make sense for it to be on the PS4 assuming GT7 has been unveiled by then. We know it's going to be released next year, so it should be in a state by the time the next GTA comes around for them to release it as a demo.

VGT cars, course marker and FIA Championship (assuming that's going to happen in GT6) are all they have left. So it could be any of them or it could just be maintenance for fixes. They don't have any VGT's announced right now, although I think they have stealth released one in the past.

Course Maker time tomorrow?

peter-kay.gif

Obviously, there's nothing else left.

I can't wait to see all the locations that they'll have. 10 new ones is the minimum I'll accept. I hope they also bring back the ones from GT5.

I wonder if we'll get any new photomode locations as well, seeing how the two things appear to be connected. It seems that they pick a course maker theme and then choose various locations within that area to use in photomode.

Toscana was one theme and they had 3 photomode locations there. (San Gimignano, San Galgano and Piazza del Campo) Same with Eifel (Nurburgring), but only Ahrweiler made it to the final game. Nurburg Castle and Bonn only appeared in prologue.

Now in GT6 we also got 3 Andalucia themes. And considering how Syracusa is in the game and Piazza Nove Aprile is another location found in the code I would bet on Sicily being one of the other themes.

Tomorrow can't come soon enough.

So, the 2015 Pikes Peak Hill climb, sponsored by "GRAN TURISMO" finished without anything Gran Turismo related at the event.

All they have to do at this point is fulfill their obligations and release the features already announced - ie Course Maker & the remaining VGT cars. Anything else should wait for GT7.
