Pokémon Shuffle Mobile is coming to iTunes App Store and Google Play in 2015! In Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, your goal is to clear various stages by lining up the same Pokémon and clearing these matches from the puzzle area. Within each puzzle stage, you can deal damage to the wild Pokémon you face by lining up three of the same Pokémon to clear them. Battle and try to catch the Pokémon before you run out of moves!

Initial gut-sinking feeling...........followed by thoughts of "I am going to play the fuck out of this" (like I do on 3ds already)

Is this another weird Pokémon app like the other ones or is this really one of those Nintendo/DENA games? Game looks dope though

Makes sense. The game is virtually a mobile game anyway.

I'm totally fine with mobile games like this, especially if they also still come to the 3DS/future handhelds.

The 3DS game was likely also a dry run to see how the monetization model would go over.

I'm guessing it went quite well.

Really? My interpretation of it is that it hasn't gone as well, so they shifted it to mobile in order to try and make money.

Not surprised in the least. I think a lot of people expected this to hit mobile as soon as it was announced for 3DS. Does this count as 'nintendo's first mobile game' or is this more of a pokemon company thing? They've done mobile stuff in the past.

Is it weird that I had no interest in playing it on my 3DS, but now that it's on phones I might try it out? I wonder why my mind works that way. Maybe it's because I can only play one thing on 3DS and have to quit out before playing something else? Maybe it's because It's a traditional 'mobile' game and i see my 3ds as a... game console? I dunno why the distinction is there in my mind, but it is.

This game already copies the mobile formula 1:1, so that´s no surprised.

I would have been more baffled if this WASN´T the first game to make the jump.

Most mobile games do a limited release in a country like Canada, Australia, or The Netherlands to update the game and adjust the pricing model based on feedback before doing a wide release.

My suspicion is that they had the same idea here, but instead of going out in just one country, they went on 3DS first to be supportive of Nintendo's f2p efforts and their general collaboration with them.

I imagine people will enjoy it for the first 180 levels or so, then hate with a great passion and turn it off, like I did. At that point, they really want you to spend money.

After it makes a billion dollars they'll try to split from Nintendo so they can release the new major Pokemon game on mobile and make a trillion dollars.

and so it begins

Nothing begins. This is Pokémon Company doing its usual thing.

Nintendo/DeNA collabo games happen under Hideki Konno (Mario Kart overlord). This has nothing to do with that. They're porting a 3DS game that was already styled after mobile games to mobile platforms.

Completely inconsequential (except for the part where it's gonna make bank for everyone involved^^).

I really don't like the Pokemon company. The game was pretty gross on 3DS, can't imagine it's better on mobile. Seems like this is their own thing and not the DeNA thing.

Japan is running a special Beta Version on Android platforms from June 30th to July 14th 2015 with a full release of the game coming later in the year

Nintendo isnt involved in any way? I never understood the relationship between The Pokemon Company and nintendo...

They're involved in the way that they co-own Pokémon (and thus make bank off of this, too).

Now let JoeM86 explain the TPC/Nintendo relationship ... :)

The "this will make so much money on mobile" thing will depend on whether TPC treats this as a service (with events and stuff) or just throwing a game and just waiting for the money to come in. IIRC there was no such thing on the 3DS version.

The game is already set to exploit its nature as a F2P game by forcing game mechanics to fit quite annoying monetization techniques, so this is a logical step.

Pokémon Shuffle was published and paid for by Nintendo as well as The Pokémon Company. This could well be the first.

Wasn't this already doing pretty well on 3DS? Assuming they market this properly, Shuffle has the potential to be pretty big on mobile.
