"Guitar Hero Live" Announced

That fmv stuff isn't too my liking. Too distracting (Mega CD HD!)

I am not sold on the guitar. I can understand how difficult it could be and its trying to be different but I think I'm too stuck in my ways won't the old layout.

Will try before I buy it if possible

This looks incredible.
But, from the looks of it, it won't be possible to use 1 guitar to play both Guitar Hero and Rock Band... Will have to see which one has the best soundtrack!

if harmonix puts in the effort you could use the guitar although it would be incredibly awkward to hit blue and orange lol

Hm, very interesting model.

So you can play unlimited new songs for free, with the catch that it's like radio, and you have no choice in which songs play.

But if you have a song you want over and over again, you pay money and its yours*

Im going to have to think about this.

*Until the servers close down.

I like the GHTV idea, but I have no idea why they can't have that AND let people keep songs they buy for offline play. It does not compute.

Really interesting ideas there. I'll give them this, GHTV is a pretty novel way of updating the music game formula.

I thought that was the case. EDIT: No, youre right. Somehow skimmed over this part:

Of course, the drawback is that you must be online to access these songs. So even if you've spent, say, $50 on 25 post-launch tracks, you won't be able to play them if your console isn't connected to the internet. Only the songs that ship with the game can be played offline.

Sorry to ask but are there any videos of Bring Me The Horizon's Shadow Moses, Pierce The Veil's King For A Day or Of Mice & Men's Bones Exposed? I took part in the filming of those songs in November, would be cool to see the results. Watched the trailer and we all doubted on the day, that'd it would look as convincing as it does.

Thanks for letting us know those songs are on GH Live. There's a lot of footage of King For A Day in videos. It's on the demo at E3

I would buy this if the guitar controller were compatiable with Rock Band 4. I'm not really digging new 6 button layout but at the same time I kind of apprecaite them completely overhauling Guitar Hero gameplay.

Harmonix has said they're going to work on getting GHLive's guitar compatible.

Also, the song system is neat, but they need to make it so you actually can use the song offline. Don't like the idea of paying for songs and then losing them all down the road when they pull the GHLive servers

So of the 93 announced songs, only seven are on-disc and available off-line? Wow.

And I find it really odd that they haven't shown any FMV footage aside from those three songs that were used as preview in the announcement (Gold on the Ceiling, My Songs Know... and When You Were Young).

I don't think that list is correct. There has GOT to be more GH Live songs than 7. LOL if it's accurate....

If true my interest in this game would take a nose dive.

Of course there are, those are the only ones we know of as of today.

They have been showing Pierce The Veil a lot since it was at E3. Same with Royal Blood

The rumour is 45 on disc songs

Half the previous games would be very disappointing.

I also don't understand dropping Mic support.

It takes zero effort to show lyrics and let someone sing along. It's great for couples

New gameplay vid looked good. Still can't get over the live crowd and performers, but maybe that's just a generation gap thing or something. Not fulfilling any kind of fantasy for me and actually pulls me out a bit haha

Yeah I don't understand why they cut out Mic support either, seems strange

Not tracking Bass either is also weird

Is the game even using stems?

Looks like outside of the core disc songs with the live audience recording, the design of the game makes it cheaper to license and make songs. No venue authoring (just slap the music video behind it), only guitar and rhythm guitar and 3 frets.

I think they're technically charting less data than even Guitar Hero 1.

I see. So unlike other Guitar Hero or Rock Band games, when you screw up in GHTV you probably won't hear anything different from the way the song always sounds. That's disappointing.

Probably only interesting to A7X fans

M. Shadows, lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold acknowledges the band's history with the series and says the band wanted to do something different for Guitar Hero Live. "We are offering fans exclusive content if they get the game pre-release," he tells us. "The whole idea of the game being from the artist's perspective and looking at a crowd... what we're going to do with our exclusive content is you get to see an Avenged Sevenfold crowd at Download Festival or Mexico City – we're still working out the details – and kind of see what it's like on stage as one of us and playing three live tracks that you can't get anywhere else. So, instead of putting out a track that everybody's already heard, these are going to be exclusive tracks just for Guitar Hero."

Avenged Sevenfold has provided music for the Black Ops series in the past, establishing a strong relationship with Activision. While they haven't determined the live songs that will appear in Guitar Hero Live, the band is currently picking from a list of seven songs. "We're going to need to figure out which ones are going to be the most technical for the fans – we want to put up some cool technical stuff – and which ones are going to translate best to that setting," M. Shadows says. "The people at Activision are like a part of our family for so long now, so we wanted to do something special for Guitar Hero just because Activision has been so good to us and try to stay really loyal to their games."

I feel at this point, either Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4 will both bomb, or will be successful while the other bombs. I just don't think the market will sustain two of these games again. It's a hard tell, both have their advantages: Rock Band with their use of previous instruments (I believe that's been confirmed anywho) and previous songs, where this has the advantage of being on way more platforms (crossgen-haters won't agree, but Rock Band going next-gen only was a risky move). Be interested to see what happens at the end of the day between the two.

Not bad, actually. Will definately pick it up day 1, just waiting to see how much it'll cost in Brazil...

And I'm sad Milky Chance - Down by the River isn't part of the playlist, but there's always GHL2

Not a fan of that list so far. I would want the rise against song and the of monsters and men song, that's about it. That's cool about the avenged sevenfold news, but I can't stand their last album, which I would assume is what the main focus will be

I am having a really hard time finding gameplay where the audio is actually in sync with the gameplay for this game. Wherever I look it's out of sync, being official stuff, B-roll footage or random youtube videos of people who have had some hand-on with it.

It annoys the fuck out of me to no end. :p

I do think the new gameplay that the guitar adds seems interesting, but that's the only thing I really can get behind. I don't care for most of the songs, don't like the UI at all, don't care at all about the music video stuff but I wouldn't look at it anyway.

I will most likely just stick with RB4 whenever I buy a X1 in a couple of years (because I don't want to lose all my DLC by getting the PS4 version if I buy that console first).

I feel at this point, either Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4 will both bomb, or will be successful while the other bombs.

Both games will do exactly as well as people will expect a music game with plastic instruments to do in 2015. Hence the corners being cut by both games.

Rock Band

- no online play at launch

Guitar Hero

- No CGI
- No Stems being used for DLC~ (GHTV)
- Guitar Only (one chart with a turnaround of a day of authoring)

the ROI will be "satisfactory"

Remark

Banned
No 3D Animation/CGI (I'm not fucking with this FMV no more :l)
No stems
Future DLC being avaliable only online (?)

I'm not fucking with this game at all right now, also the song list doesn't look that hot either. I'll probably just get Rock Band 4 whenever they add online play to it.

Yup DLC~ is only available online but then again how many songs are you actually going to buy when you can just play them for free
