UPDATE - 16th September

KOTOR 2 Getting 20 New Crowd-Sourced Achievements

Soon after the game’s update and new platform launch in July, Aspyr rep Michael Blair made a call out to the Steam community for pitches on what they thought would make for fun new achievements. The thread garnered over 200 comments with lots of unique and creative ideas. After much deliberation and careful vetting (to make sure a suggested achievement was technically valid), Aspyr has now selected 20 of their favorites that will be turned into actual Steam achievements!

Spoilers of the Achievments are in the above link!

As well as the game now also being available for Mac, SteamOS / Linux, there is a substantial update for all platforms for the first time in years.

This includes

  • Support for up to 5K resolution
  • Widescreen Support
  • Controller Support
  • Steam Achievements
  • Steam Cloud
  • Steam Workshop Support - including Sith Lords Restored Content Mod -- a mode that completes KOTOR 2, which had missing chunks at launch and Story elements

Edit - Update and Workshop content is now available

Cool, widescreen was a pain in the ass for that game IIRC, or it might have been Kotor 1.

Also, do this for Kotor 1 pls Bioware I beg you.

Was just thinking I should replay this game for like the 3rd time.

Great to see they added direct support for the expansion mod, never played the game with it on but have heard great things.

Woah, this is great! Who is responsible for this? Would be nice if they fixed up the original KOTOR to the same standard.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Will play. Always wanted to see the missing content and never progressed far on Xbox due to the savage cuts.

never played KOTOR1 or 2 but i've been meaning to. wonder if it'll support 21:9. that controller support is really nice as well.

seems kinda weird 2 is getting update but not 1. different developers? why update it at all?

Will this work with the Restored Content mod? Yes it does work I need to work on my reading it seems, all but required IMO that last 1/5 is sheer nonsense otherwise.

Amazing game

If you used the superpower of reading you would have found this out:

Edit: nvm you did use it :D

Dammit my foolishness was caught! :D

Excellent, I got this in a humble bundle a while back.
Will much prefer paying it with proper controller support.

Wow. How timely. I just started a new playthrough a few days ago and I was complaining about how I couldn't get the game to be widescreen like I wanted.

Steam Workshop support! We've proudly teamed up with the Restored Content Mod team and TSLRCM will be available on day 1!

Maybe obsidian finally got to make that patch they've wanted to for a decade.

Hope there will be an updated GOG version as well :)

This is a massive update for a game ten years old.

Too bad I've already dealt with the pain and struggle (not really) of getting the game running at 1080p with the Restored Content mod.

Still time to boot it back up for the seventeenth time, YOLO

Controller support? Damn, I just did a replay 2 months ago :'(

Xpadder mostly did a great job, but native would have been way better.

Those getting for the first time, I'd skip the Droid Planet companion to the restoration mod. I just.... would.

What about unlocking the ending of the game?
It's kinda stupid that an unofficial patch did it years ago,but not the official one.

It's part of the content mod that is in the Steam Workshop. The game never shipped with that content completed or unlocked on any platform until the modders got to it, as far as I know. Regardless, seems the developers (either Obsidian or Aspyr) teamed up with them to make it available for the launch

Very, very cool. The native widescreen support is actually the most important thing to come out of this, as the content restoration mod was fairly easy to track down and install. Widescreen and custom resolution (1080p) support was a huge pain in the ass to get working, though, and my game would still crash from time to time on transitioning from gameplay to FMVs.
