Mighty No. 9 Delayed?

From the Red Ash Kickstarter thread:

In another interesting turn of events, several retailers are listing Mighty No 9 with a 2016 placeholder date now. What a mess.

Yep Amazon and Gamestop least has a 2016 placeholder now indeed. The hell is going on.

Wait what?
What date did these guys displayed before? Was it an exact real date or was it like December 31, 2015?

September 15th for NA, 18th WW, but now it looks like Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart has just changed the date to the Dec 2016 placeholder.

Could be nothing but weird that multiple retailers would suddenly change the date, no?

Inafune pls.

Edit: Seems to only apply to physical copies so far.

Shit, something might have gone horribly wrong within the gameplay Q/A or some kind of game-breaking glitch that caused the delay.

probably delayed to coincide with the animated series, the live action movie, the cg movie, the manga, the daily comic, the toyline, the cereal, the backpack, the flamethrower and the sequel

probably nothing

This entire thing has been a huge mess. I sure hope it's not delayed past September. The game is basically finished!

Most likely just retail.

Wishful thinking. Why would it be just retail?
Its quite worrying considering the funds required to get to this point; do they have enough backing for another year?

Some drvs would be able to get a second group funding but after the Red shit am not so sure.

Best Buy too. Amazon, GS, and Walmart seems to be the only ones so far.

That's odd - Canadian Best Buy is changed to 12/31/16, same with EB Games

There's no indications at all yet that the digital has been delayed. Steam still has the pre-order counter down to the hours up.

They're struggling to get this game to retail and they want people to give them money for another game - worse, a game that has barely nothing to say for what it will be like and how it will look? I mean shit, I don't mean to be so negative, but it's hard not to think that Inafune is losing a lot of favour for this.

That sucks. Just retail? What would be the reason for this other than screwing up the process, or wanting to sell digital first then double dip physical on some people?

When will people who play video games stop making huge generalisations about publishing, developing and funding resources of video games ie quit being an armchair analyst.

Like ok I get it, we gotta stand up for our rights and shit but posts like yours are just alarm bells for no reason. Let's wait till we get some actual information yeah?

do you guys think theres any chance this could be do to Red Ash's imminent failure, and inability for Inafune to funnel those funds into Mighty No. 9 causing the game to take longer to complete?

EDIT: Not really but I'm really impressed at this tinfoil hat theory...

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
The game's Steam Store page still says September 15. Probably a manufacturing-related delay.

I do think going from "let's set up two Kickstarters with stretch goals in the millions" to "we aren't getting a dime" could have possibly affected the health of the studio.

That tweet doesn't even make sense for this thread.

What does this have to do with a delay? If anything, a delay is a good thing if the game needs polish.

I feel like this has become an extremely shallow jab at Inafune given how often people share this tweet, even though Kamiya has said many nice about him otherwise.

I don't really see what you're saying by sharing this.

Yeah no. You don't need to post the Image just because Mighty No. 9 is in the Title...

Man, I love it when people go for the tangentially-related drive-by meme post hoping to score "GAF Karma" or something and it completely blows up in their faces.
