  • Halo: Master Chief Collection to be released on August 13th in China
64e7655fgw1euk3e2pe7jj20k00b940v.jpg

Microsoft Xbox general manager Xie announced Halo: Master Chief Collection would be released on August 14th in China during Halo Night, along with Phil Spencer from Microsoft Xbox and Frank O'Connor from 343 Industries.
Halo: Master Chief Collection in China will be released with English voice and Chinese subtitle. Pre-order will start from 30th of July, and the price is 249RMB.
Players can only play with those who are also in China in the multiplay mode of Halo: Master Chief Collection. Moreover, maps from Halo: ODST are included in multiplay mode. But the release plan for Halo: ODST is still unknown.
Frank O'Connor said at the start of the event that Halo series had sold over 59 million copies by now, with some other mile stones mentioned.
Phil Spencer then gifted a signed Xbox One to a Chinese player whose Xbox achievement had reached 140 thousand. While, according to some Xbox players in China, that winner was a cheater. Later, the evidences confirmed that he cheated on Xbox 360 by cracking. Though, so far Microsoft still haven't realized yet.

Not really. But it depends on the game.

This is crazy popular in China.
And by crazy popular, Crossfire is only a bit less popular than League of Legends. The bigger problem with Halo is that China doesn't have much history with the franchise, and Chinese FPS gamers are used to keyboard & mouse controls. Microsoft is going to have a lot of momentum to overcome.

Does this include the possibility of localizations to other countries? Because that would be awesome.

I don't know what people were expecting out of this conference, but I for one am impressed with their effort. Seems to be going well for PlayStation in China.

Thanks for the post OP and for the other information from Zhuge.

500,000 beta registrations in just China alone for SFV.

Wow.

Also it definitely looks like Sony is putting more effort in China than MS.

Street Fighter is super pop in China

Lots of localization announcements along with the SFV announcement. That's about what I expected from this event. Hopefully the stream of games into China continues. Really impressed by the SFV beta numbers too.

...and that's not all from the Xbox side, is it? The MCC announcement?

Sony has it easy, and on cruise control.
They are just using their Japan playbook since most of Asia has the same taste.
