What is Your Favourite Conspiracy Theory?

I've been fascinated with conspiracy theories for a long time. Don't get me wrong - I don't believe in a single one - but they're just so creative and make for such entertaining reading. Earlier today I was browsing Above Top Secret and peeked into their Fukushima thread and stumbled on this gem:

I truly believe that this is the single most momentous event that has happened, or will happen, in my lifetime, short of WWIII. In fact, I believe my own lifetime has been shortened because of it.

I think this illustrates why I'm so fascinated with them. They offer an entirely alternative reality, a whole fictional universe - except people think they actually live in it! The comment I quoted above doesn't just take as granted that Fukushima is a cover up of global proportions (that's the point of their thread after all), what grabbed me is the suggestion that WWIII either is guaranteed to happen or has already happened. Maybe the poster didn't mean it that way, but that's the thing: when you jump into the conspiracy mindset everything and anything is possible.

So which are your favourite conspiracy theories, and why? I'll post three of mine.

First up: HAARP!

Why? Because it's a cool Sci-Fi concept that's surprisingly accepted even by people who aren't completely devoted to the CT subculture. But most of all: the truth about what HAARP was is just so innocent.

HAARP-Antenna%20Field-New-2_3.jpg

On some level I can see why HAARP got as much traction as it did. Firstly, it was run by the Air Force, it just looks weird and it's located far away from civilization. Secondly, its real function was kind of abstract. Thirdly, it's just such a multifunctional theory! Among other things HAARP has been accused of being an earthquake machine that caused the 2011 tsunami, a weather control device, a mind control weapon/and or pacification device, a missile shield, a defence against/for communication with/built by aliens, a device that's causing/countering global warming and in some way shape or form connected to chemtrails (because at the end of the day, what isn't connected to chemtrails?)

So what was HAARP actually used for?

That's one example. Uh, like I said. It's a little abstract. It was basically altering the local ionosphere in order to study it. And it really was innocuous: it was even open to the public for field trips in the summer. The reason I'm referring to it in the past sense is that it was shut down earlier this year. The facility is being transferred to the University of Alaska Fairbanks now so if people are still suspicious I guess they can just give them a call. And no, I don't think this fact will prevent it from continuing to be featured in future theories.

Next up: The Black Knight

Why? It's another cool Sci-Fi concept and it looks really mysterious and surprisingly plausible at first glance! And the name is just awesome. Props to whoever coined it.

black-knight-585x306.jpg

It looks like something straight out of Mass Effect or a space horror movie. Now, technically the Black Knight isn't always presented as a conspiracy theory because at times the tale is spun more in the way of no one knowing what it is. Still, it belongs in the CT subculture and it's usually claimed that NASA is trying to keep it covered up. The general gist of the story goes like this: it's up there right now, it's black, it pre-dates human space travel and it's most likely an alien construction of some kind. An alien spy satellite, an alien space station or a derelict alien spacecraft thousands of years old - the details vary. I'm sure there are theories about it being Nazi, NSA or Soviet too but they aren't as interesting.

So what is it really? No one knows. Well, that's not strictly accurate: it's more like no one is really sure if it actually exists. The object on that photo is generally accepted to be a thermal blanket from the shuttle that took the photo, but the original myth goes back a very long time and includes everything from sightings to unknown radio signals to strange radar echoes. It has basically morphed into a catch-all theory for anything resembling a ghost satellite despite the claims not being connected at all, which makes it largely immune to debunking. But it's a fairly harmless - and cool - theory, so I don't really mind. The Black Knight will probably stay in the CT orbit for some time longer.

Finally: CERN.

Why? Remember the people freaking out about the Large Hadron Collider creating a black hole back in 2008 when it was coming online? Those people have nothing to do with this theory. This theory is much more entertaining. It's about CERN actually being a project to open a gate to hell.

Unlike the previous theories I'm not going to spoil this one by over-explaining. It's too good for that. This one needs to be experienced. So with that in mind, let me just present you a sample of pictures and videos for you to explore:

So what is CERN really? I'm pretty sure you already know the official story. Me, I'm pretty sure it's just a front for making the world's craziest dance videos.

So what's your favourite conspiracy theory?

I guess whatever the least damaging one is. I hate most conspiracy theories, it often leads to people pushing for harmful policies, or just go completely off the rails and act violently.

I made a thread about it a while back. People stopped posting in it.
Not saying its suspicious...

That's a new one for me, thanks! Unironically comparing Obama to an SG-1 character as evidence is just pure gold.

Yeah, the world would definitely be better of without them. Especially now that some government agencies like the Russian propaganda bureaus have started to capitalize on them and their methods. But they're probably not going anywhere so for now I prefer to just get as much enjoyment out of them as I can, even if I try to counter them when I meet someone in real life who believes them.

Definetly chemtrails for me too. I live in an area where there are loads of them most days (glasgow) i also like the creepy number stations one

Pentagod
Long story short back in March of 2008 I befriended a member of the British intelligence services (MI6). She was an intelligence officer working for them. We became quite close over a couple of months and she told me information that if I ever wrote about would put Wikileaks to shame. Imagine you're The Pentagon. Imagine you've existed for the better part of a century. Imagine you're an organisation consisting of twenty thousand people and you're sole purpose is to protect America.

Now if you're The Pentagon and you discover or come across a profound set of information that could potentially change the world what would you do? Would you immediately call CNN and ask them to publicise it or would you think that this information, which no other country on the planet knows, could potentially give your nation an edge in the global sphere and therefore come to the conclusion that you should keep this knowledge a secret to advance your nation's position on the world stage?

From what this woman told me, The Pentagon proved God exists on December 16, 2009 at precisely 4:00am. They had been working towards this for decades. They wanted to prove whether their theorised "spirit of the universe" actually existed and they pulled it off. They discovered that "God" or rather the spirit and essence that exists beyond the veil of this universe was an invisible photonic energy field that generated the universe and now controls the planets and the stars.

You honestly wouldn't believe some of the plans The Pentagon developed and executed over the last twenty years. All I'll say is that America's general filmography reflects the knowledge that The Pentagon generated. Here's a good example. The film Priest (2011) was a Pentagon-powered effort after they had proven God exists because they thought that if they didn't start creating films that were pro-Christian then something negative might happen to humanity. They felt that they needed to "worship" this mysterious spirit of the universe or humanity might not exist for much longer.

Although this one's actually true.

The darker the better. And if it has anything that can be connected to real stuff it makes it even more interesting.

Therefore my favourite is the Franklin Cover Up.

The cliffnote version: (What is real in this is the embesslement and the MKUltra experiments. Everything else is hearsay.)

1. CIA made experiments with LSD on people in the MKUltra-program
2. These victims were also abused and used as sex slaves by politicians and rich people
3. Bohemian Grove is the ritual center where at least one snuff film were made, directed by Hunter S. Thompson

Basically it started with an "ordinary" report that union leader Lawrence King embessled money from the Franklin Credit Union.

Then a certain Paul Bonacci (from the MKUltra program) came forward claiming King was the center of a huge child prostitution ring, in which he himself both had been a victim and later helped kidnap boys to it. Most notably Johnny Gosh, a young tween who disappeared in the 80s.

This is a unaired Discovery channel dox which details all of this, it never made it to air because days before it was going to air an anonomous person bought all the rights and stopped it:

Interview with Paul Bonnacci who claims to have several personalities because of the MKUltra experiments:

This topic showed up on reddit a few days ago and the one I liked is that we used to live in a universe where the books/show was called BerenstEin Bears (ask anyone and they'll remember it that way) but we've since shifted into a universe where it's called BerenstAin Bears and always was.

Down and down into the very nipple of the earth.
Mole people are real!

Stuff like the Lost Cosmonauts. Mixture of space and secret Soviet era secrecy is really inviting (regards of how nonsense it is)

Michael Jordan's baseball career.
I like this one too - The rumors/theory being Jordan was caught gambling on games by NBA officials but he was too popular to ban or publicly punish so he was silently suspended and played baseball in the meantime. Also read a theory that his dad might have been killed as punishment for Jordan not paying off huge gambling debts.

Have lizard people not been mentioned yet?

Lizard people. Far and away lizard people.

Dude there's a huge amount of both footage and text to go through with this :D

Where everything comes from is essentially the book The Franklin Cover-up: Child Abuse, Satanism, and Murder in Nebraska by John DeCamp.
Here is an interview with him about this book:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNjqfrKsJOw

Then we have a interview (in 4 parts) with Rusty Nelson, a photographer who claims to have been in the company of these clamed sex parties, and also been asked to film them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_4wyBGVxug

And then, about the MKUltra stuff, just look it up on wikipedia - since it's real it's all there basically :p https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKUltra

Someone actually snuck into Bohemian Grove during an assembly there and filmed it:

The Phantom Time Hypothesis: The years 614 AD to 911 AD never happened and were a conspiracy by the Holy Roman Emperor, the Pope, and the Byzantine Empire.

It is just so silly, easily disprovable, european centric while also being for such a stupid supposed motive, so they could rule during the year 1000 AD when Jesus would return.

I browse the Above Top Secret forums occasionally because I love to read what some of the nuts are coming up with. It's a shame it's turned into a horror of a site to use these past years, but I've always had a soft spot for their madness. I'm like the OP, don't believe a word of them. I really love the way the best ones sound entirely plausible whilst you're reading about them, until you stop and think for a second and then it all comes falling down.

I suppose because of that, the lizard man and NWO theories are most fun, since some of the threads about that stuff over there are huge entertainment.

Just sometimes, the fun stops though and it's clear the OP to a thread is mentally ill. There was one guy that was posting about the MiB who monitor him 24/7 and all about how they're parked across his street etc. It was a little disturbing and the poor guy was clearly unwell.
